My mother-in-law is in River's Edge. I'd say it's a good value because of the price of the rent versus the size of the apartment, and the meals are included. There's a good community there, and they do a good job of managing the facility. They have an independent living building, and they have an assisted building next door. They have exercise programs, they have community-based programs, different types of classes they offer, they have movie nights, and all that kind of thing. I think the communication is good from what I've seen. Whenever there are any new policies or changes, they let us know. So the communication with family is good, and I think the company that manages River's Edge is a good company (SRG). I'm very happy with their policies. They could do a better job with the activities. The food is good.

But when it comes to choosing a senior living community, how do you measure the quality behind the scenes. We suggest starting with communities that have been accredited. The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) is an internationally recognized, third-party accreditation body for health and human services, including senior living. And although federal and state guidelines do not require senior living communities to be accredited, we think it is an important differentiator. That's why at River's Edge, we have perused and obtained CARF accreditation and received the highest level award for our community. So when shopping for senior living, be sure to ask "are you accredited?"

I will be moving into River's Edge. They were beautiful, clean, and very nice. It fits my needs perfectly. It was the right size. It was a little expensive, but that's okay. There didn't seem to be any flaws. I love the fact that they had lots of closet space and lots of counters.

I did a tour of River's Edge. The sales agent was very good and very nice, but overall, the grounds were not adequate. The apartments were very good. One of the nice things they have is underground parking. Thats a nice amenity. They had nice amenities there, but it wasnt enough. I had a meal there; the food was pretty good.

We like River's Edge because it is near where we are now and we've been in this area for quite a few years. So much of our life is centered around here. It's quite nice. It's in a very pleasant area along the American River. They're a park-like setting so it's quite pleasant. It certainly doesn't have a lot of amenities. They just have dining rooms and things like that. It doesn't have swimming pools or exercise rooms or that sort of thing, but that's not what we're looking for. We had lunch there and it was quite nice. The staff was all very friendly. Since we haven't moved in yet, we haven't interacted with them very much but they've all been saying hello.

We liked the setting of River's Edge. It's a beautiful setting within the redwood trees and has a nice little lake and fountain. Instead of being right off a major street and just being a building, this is set back in a very nice setting. The other thing we liked about it was it seemed a little bit more laid back. It was very relaxed, and we liked that it had a balcony, because the other ones we looked at did not have a balcony. The person that toured me there was excellent, very accommodating, and answered the questions. She was very good. She showed me the whole facility, the library, the theater, and all the different areas where the residents can sit outside.

River's Edge was lovely, but it was priced far beyond anything that my friend could afford. The rooms were very nice. We were looking for a one bedroom apartment. It had a bedroom, a living room, lots of storage, a kitchenette, and everything that she would need. The entrance was beautiful. It was very impressive and high end. We went to an office to talk to the person that was going to give us a tour. She was also very pleasant and gave us a little plant, which was very thoughtful.

We went to River's Edge and it was really nice. It's like a cruise ship on land. Everyone was fine. Everybody was dressed up, the staff was fine, they had a really nice dining room, and there was secure parking. They would have been my second choice, just because it's farther away from my house, and because it's a dressy place.

River's Edge had nice rooms that were a little larger because it's older. The older ones had larger rooms for the most part. The layout was very nice. The one staff member that I dealt with was wonderful. The food was wonderful. They had a fair amount of activities. The dining area was elegant. They had all services there and ample parking, but it was a long walk to the parking area.

River's Edge is really beautiful and I liked it. It was fairly new and clean. I enjoyed the apartments which were really nice. It was modern and newer. The girl who showed us around was really nice and the staff was really good. I would love to live there, but the average age is 82, and I'm only 74.

They're pretty good. The staff is very cooperative, and they have a lot of activities. They have very good rooms. I think they do very well. The food is quite good. They're very accommodating.

I visited River's Edge. They were very friendly, showed us the rooms, and gave us some information. However, it wasn't for us. It was gorgeous, had beautiful landscaping, and was very clean outside. They had some classes going on. The rooms were clean and nice. The staff was friendly and polite.

The tour person at River’s Edge was very salesmanish and seemed in a hurry -- which he might have been because he just squeezed as in -- but it was kind of we felt like he was in a hurry. He had us come in on the side door because we parked in the wrong spot, you really have to come in the front door because coming in the back door doesn’t give a good impression. The lobby was beautiful and welcoming. They had an art show, so it was really good. You could really see the people who are friendly and active. The kitchens were really bad, but the rooms were fine.

I liked River's Edge the best. It was the nicest, but it cost $3,700, plus you pay utilities, air-conditioning, and electricity, which was too expensive for us. They had lots of activities, like going to casinos. I have a friend whose father just moved there and loves it. They had a really nice dining room. The food looked really good. The people were a little bit more upscale.

River’s Edge was particularly beautiful, but also like walking into a mausoleum. There weren’t a lot of people around. They were having an ice cream social and nobody was there. It’s just a very different atmosphere. It’s beautiful, but there were certain things I didn’t like. One thing that really bugged me was they charge for electricity, which doesn’t seem like a big deal, but no other place of the six or seven I’ve visited charges for electricity. They also had set times for meals and one dining room, and that wouldn’t work for me because I have family around and I’d be in and out. They had two meals a day with early or late sittings, and I did not care for that. It just wasn’t what I was looking for.
