I visited this facility

The Terraces at Park Marino is very complete. On the tour, they showed me all the areas. We toured both a one-bedroom and a studio. The outside space was just concreted over. They had some trees and what have you, but it was mostly concrete, so it was just very off-putting for me.

The Terraces at Park Marino was an excellent community. They're really engaged. The apartments were great. The facility was nice and clean. The staff members that gave the tour did a good job. Their dining area looked very engaging.

I visited this facility

I toured The Terraces at Park Marino and we're just waiting on if our application will get accepted. I made it very clear of what my father's needs are, and they were very open and honest with what they could provide. First of all, I like Sam. I think he's the gentleman who heads the whole thing. He's the one who walked me through everywhere. I liked that the whole facility was clean, and I liked the fact that the residents seemed happy there. The staff clearly had a high morale, and they were happy to be working there. A lot of them had been working there for ten to 15 years. I saw a studio apartment and it was very clean, brand-new carpets, and a nice view from the room. They have a theater and a pool table on each floor. What I was most impressed with was the spacious grounds out in the back with a real park-like setting. I saw their menu and the dining room and it was expansive. I was very impressed with what I saw.

Provider Response

Russ, I'm glad you had such a positive experience on your visit to the Terraces. We take great pride in the appearance of our building and of our dedicated and long-serving staff! Thank you for your kind words!

We went to The Terraces at Park Marino. The community relations director was very open and welcoming. The entire community felt like a family. They've got very nice, modern facilities, and very nice activities. Overall, it's a very nice place. The amenities were numerous to mention. They have a beauty care facility, outside gardens, library, exercise, and performances twice a week where musicians come. It's very clean.

We chose The Terraces at Park Marino due to the services, the level of care, and the longevity of their employees. We took my mom for a tour of the place, then we began moving her furniture this weekend so she will be there by Tuesday. The tenure of their employees tells you that they pay their employees well so they're compensated and provide good care. That was critical, for us. We toured their assisted living and also saw their memory care. They didn't let us give them an assessment of our mother's health. They asked for a doctor's confirmation of how well or not well she is, and what kind of assistance she may need. They also reviewed her health and compare the two so that when she enters, there isn't a kind of a bait and switch thing where you say, "Oh, my mom only needs her meds, brought to her in the morning", and then all of a sudden, you're hit with a bill because they're having to provide a lot more care. They can truly give you the cost of what services she'll require. In most of these places, the services are on a kind of a menu where the less you use, the less you pay, and as you require more services, you add that to your monthly total. You are not blindsided at The Terraces; you know exactly what you're going to pay. They offered social, emotional, and functional well-being. They have a theater and they play interactive games. They have groups that meet and talk about social issues. They have people and groups that meet and they can talk about their religious viewpoints. They have an area to work out, a salon that takes care of people's grooming, and a happy hour. There are continuing things going on like gardening and my mother loves to garden. She's in a wheelchair so it's hard so they have platforms where she can garden. They have multiple places to enjoy outside as well as inside. What my mom will get as she transitions is she will keep a social infrastructure with people that have commonality with her, and that will allow her to flourish and not feel like she's come here to end her life. It's more of "I've come here to go to the next step in my life and it will be rich and fulfilling". They have baking and mixology. They have a plethora of services and social, interactive things like art classes, that they offer to give my mother the same rich environment she's had in her home. She's a teacher with a double master's, so she's an intelligent individual and I want her to have a rich environment. They have a section where if somebody starts to have a cognitive impairment, that section is a little different so that they provide a higher level of care for people. If somebody's got dementia or they have cognitive issues, you want to be sure that they don't have access to walking out and getting hurt so they provide that same beautiful environment, but with a level of protection that the individuals of that experience need. I was very, very pleased with this place, they've made it very nice. They also completely cleaned and painted their rooms. The cleanliness of the place is amazing. They have a private dining room so if she wants to have her family over, we can sit in the private dining room, so she feels like she's at home having her family for dinner. It's just very, very well thought out, and a very good transition for her.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was in the memory care unit at the Terraces for a little over 2 years. In that time whenever I visited the staff always were attentive and treated Mom with dignity and respect. Her Alzheimer's had rid her of her ability to care for her personal needs, but she was always clean. The food was good and the dining room reminded me of a restaurant rather than an institution. Memory care had a nice little patio for residents which my mom appreciated. Activities were limited while mom was there but that was due to the pandemic. I have to say I was impressed by the administration's serious guidelines and how they kept everyone safe during that time. They kept everyone informed with weekly updates . This gave me a great peace of mind knowing that she was in a safe environment. I am so grateful for the care they gave her in her last 2 years of her life.

Provider Response

Audrey, your mom was such a joy and we miss her terribly. Thank you so much for your kind words.

I visited this facility

The Terraces at Park Marino was very nice to tour. The facility was a little small for the memory care unit. We were disappointed because we did take an hour and a half for the tour, and at the end of it all, we were told they didn't even have available space, so it was a waste of our time. We felt that the salesperson or the leasing agent was more so trying to just make us familiar if we were to need assisted living or anything like that on our own down the line. And he knew we were coming for the care unit. So the facility is very nice, the gentleman that toured us was very nice, but it felt a little bit pushy and more sales-like than if he cared for why we were there. It's fresh, new, updated, modern, comfortable, bright, and it was very nice. Their price is on the high end, and it's a climbing scale of cost.

I visited The Terraces at Park Marino. They were very good, and their assisted living was very nice. I saw a one-bedroom and it was quite excellent. It had a little kitchen, and it overlooks the little wildlife habitat for animals out there. They had a nice courtyard. Their dining room was huge; it was beautiful. They had an arts-and-crafts room, a game room, and a music room. That place was really nice. The staff were very efficient. I considered it a lot, but my mom needed a different kind of care at that point. The food was a little bit better than restaurant food; they even have a taco night. It's extremely well maintained, very clean, and a very homey type of situation.

The facilities are lovely in all respects. But what really stood out for me and my family was the wonderful, caring and attentive staff, without exception. The gentle, understanding care they provided our mother was more than you could hope for. You can rest easy knowing that your loved one is in very good hands.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your kind words. We are very proud of our staff and for them to be recognized for all their hard work and dedication means so much. I'll be sure to pass along your well deserved compliments. It will make their day!

We chose The Terraces at Park Marino for my father. The staff seemed really friendly, happy, and very helpful. The atmosphere was nice. The residents seemed to enjoy being there as well. We saw a studio apartment and that would be perfect. It had a nice view of the mountains. This was in a nice location and it was very clean. They were all very helpful and very friendly, especially the marketing manager. They had a lot of different activities, so I liked that. Everything was very well put together. It was very cozy. I was hoping to do it sooner, but my father seems to be having trouble with the G-tube. They won't take him until the G-tube is out.

Provider Response

Julie, thank you so much for your kind words about The Terraces at Park Marino! We are honored that you have entrusted your dad's care to us. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you, your dad and the rest of your family to our family! :)

My dad is moving into The Terraces at Park Marino. The rooms are bigger. The staff is wonderful. Everything is bright and cheerful. They have all kinds of activities socially distanced with masks. I spoke to some residents and they said the food is really good. The chef has been there for 20 years.

Provider Response

Cathy, thank you so much for your kind words. We can't wait to have your dad as a new member of the Terraces family and look forward to serving him!

Our overall experience having mom at The Terraces at Park Marino has been good. The staff is really nice; we're still trying to get to know them, but so far everybody has been nice. Her apartment there is really nice, and it has a really good homey feeling. It feels more like a home, not too elegant, but it's really nice, clean, and safe/secure-looking. I haven't tried their food but my mom seems very satisfied with it.

Provider Response

We're so glad that your mom is having a positive experience at The Terraces! We strive to create an environment that is homey and the culture of the community is very family-like. We look forward to serving your mom for the entirety of her stay with us. Thank you again for such a nice review.

So glad I finally moved in

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was hesitant to give up my home and what I believed was my independence, but now I have people to help, socialize with, and I don't worry about housework and yardwork any longer. My only regret is that I did not choose this two years ago since I have met my new best friends at The Terrace. The parking is not optimal but they will park your car if you ask them to at the front desk. The food is far superior than other places I tried when looking for a retirement home. The staff, from the housekeepers to the management staff, are truly concerned with my well being and make it feel more like a family home than an institution. I love my apartment and my view and especially, as mentioned, all my new friends young and old.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at The Terraces at Park Marino for three months. All they had available for me was a small studio apartment. The appearance wasn't very good. It's a long, slender building and they just didn't have enough parking for people. It didn't have very nice grounds to stroll in, and they were very small. The staff was very nice, but they didn't have very good medical attention or respondents. The food was good. They had a very nice dining room with a fireplace, exercise, knitting, and bridge classes. The facility itself was not in a very good location and entrance wasn't very nice.

Provider Response

We would welcome you to return and have a tour of the Terraces at Park Marino to refresh your memory of our quite spacious outdoor courtyards, our beautiful views and walking paths all around the property. While you were here with us we did not have any available one bedrooms, and you were first on our waiting list! We now have one bedroom apartments available that would offer you the amount of space that you require. If you are in need of assistance at this time, we have more than adequate caregivers available to provide that to those residents who do need care. Thank you again for your positive review on Caring.com!

I visited this facility

The Terraces at Park Marino are very homey feeling. The rooms were quite nice sized with sensible bathrooms and a kitchenette. They were well appointed and you could bring your own furniture. They had a nice dining room, very nice green areas, and plenty of activities. It was the first place we looked at. The person who took us around was very helpful and very informative. There was nice artwork around. The furnishings were very comfortable. There were several different gathering places. It didn't feel like I was in a hotel, it felt more like a living room. Even though it was open in the hallways, it was something my mother would be very comfortable with. However, she wouldn't be able to go there because she has certain health issues. She would need someone to give her insulin, and they don't have full-time on-staff nurses that do that. They don't have that licensing.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for the lovely comments on our community! The Terraces at Park Marino does have a nurse, but you are correct that because our nurse is not here 24/7 we can't do injections for insulin dependent diabetics. We have had some residents that used an outside source for injections, but that is of course, a personal decision. We thank you so much for touring and your positive responses to our beautiful Community!
