Henrietta's Leven Oaks was excellent. My mom stayed there and I would recommend them. They went over and beyond the call of duty. It was an old hotel that was converted to a senior living. It's just lovely and it's got beautiful grounds. What my husband and I liked about it was that the residents would all be taken to the dining room for their breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So, they weren't isolated in their rooms, unless they were ill. It was just a very comfortable place, very clean, and the workers were amazing. They also have a board that shows whatever activity was planned for the day, which included painting fingernails, and some speakers or music that comes in. They plan things for Thanksgiving or Halloween. They put up decorations for Christmas with a big, beautiful Christmas tree. So, they did an excellent job with their activities. Although a lot of people were not able to participate in these activities, you would still see people doing puzzles and playing dominoes or whatever they could as their ability permitted.

I toured The Leven Oaks. It was closer to me. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to tour the actual place. It was very pleasant and welcoming, and even the residents there were very friendly. I was able to speak to the marketing individuals there to show me around. I toured one room, the dining area, the kitchen, the administration area, the lounge, and the backyard. I just had a very detailed orientation of the place. I was able to see a bigger picture if my in-laws were there, and how it would be. It was very private tailoring to their needs, and everything was just explanatory over the phone, so a lot of things were clarified. So, I enjoyed the tour that I had. The staff showed me a private room with a private bath. They had some furniture there to make it look very comfy and cozy. When I went in there, it was very snug, especially for individuals. For a couple, it might work too, you just have to pan it out. If my in-laws were to be there, then that would be the kind of room that they would like, like to have their own private baths, and it has the scenery of the backyard.

I liked The Leven Oaks because it felt small. It was a historic building, and you could tell that it was an older facility, but it was clean. They had a variety of different kinds of rooms. The one that we hoped to move my dad in to was a studio apartment. The dining room looked very nice. They post their menus. They had lots of activities for their seniors, and the staff that I had met so far seemed very pleasant and caring. One time I was there, they were being entertained by a singer. Then, another time I was there, a family went out to serve the dining room for a birthday party for their relative. They had balloons and a cake and that was nice.

My client is in The Leven Oaks. I visited her there several times. The people are very nice. The facility is clean. The caregivers seem friendly, and the residents are neat and well taken care of. It offers all the normal things that these assisted living facilities provide. She has just moved in, and it has been very good. She has been there for three weeks now.
