PLEASE READ! My Mother was transferred to Excell Care Center from Highland Hospital. She was transferred to Excell to start her recovery with a brand new antibiotic. None of my family had been trained on how or what to watch for as far as side effects and this antibiotic had a lot of side effects. I was under the impression that my Mother was in this facility because there were trained people who would keep an eye out on her. Come to find out, all of her nurses are just as familiar as I am with her sickness and her new meds. Long story, terrifying story brief. 7days later, my Mom video calls me. She can barely hold the phone up and she's slurring her speech. She's able to squeeze out "help, come get me please" I tell my mom I'm on my way. As I'm on the road, I'm trying to call the recovery home to speak with anyone to give them a heads up about my Mom. **THIS REALLY HAPPENED** A staff answers at the front desk, I tell her about my call with my Mom and asked her if they can please go check on her. The women I'm on the phone with does not put the phone down. She takes a glance at my Mom and says "I'm looking at her now, she's just fine" I knew she wasn't. I said "Ok, well I'm on my way. Almost there. Please have her signed out. She'll be checking out today. The nurse sounds upset with me on the phone. I hang up, pull in at 2 - 3mins after talking on the phone. As soon as my sister and I pull into their parking lot, we can see my mom with her hand tapping her widows near her bed in hopes that she would get my sister and i's attention. She did! So, my sister and I fought with nurses to get the release, rushed our Mom to highland hospital to arrive and be told that she was having a stroke. Idk what everyone looks for in elderly homes but what I do know is this ain't it. Please, don't bring anyone you know or love here. It was harmful. My Mom almost died.

I like Excell Health Care Center a lot. It seemed like every time there was somebody in the hallway in a wheelchair, a staff member would come and get them. They wouldn’t just go bobbing into the hallway. Whether it’s a medication question or my mom has been pushing the button, they come right away. They are very clean; they kept offering to give her a bath. Her roommate had passed away when she was there, and they handled that really well, too, to prevent trauma in my mom. The food was good, and they gave her a second. When she wanted a little bit more meat, they would give her more.
