My mom is in Alamitos West Health & Rehabilitation. She has been there for three weeks now. It was a nice place. She did very well. She gained weight. She enjoyed it. We were very remarkedly surprised at how well she has come back because before she was almost comatose in her bed. She wouldn't eat and she couldn't walk, and now she's doing things on her own. So whatever programs they've got her going through in the day, it's just been a miraculous comeback for her. I'm thinking the interaction that she was getting there was just really good for her. It's not a big community. As you walk in, it has a simple lobby but it is very clean. Going into the doors, you have a very large dining room where they also do exercising in and have different programs and crafts in. Every day they have a couple of different things that the residents can partake in. They have a schedule every day for different activities. The staff would encourage the residents to partake in those activities. It was good for my mom. They get her up a couple of times a day in the wheelchair and have her go in there, or they get her in a walker and have her walk down the halls with the walker. So that was good to build up her strength. They didn't just let her sit in a chair or let her lay in bed. With Medicare, value for money was great. They were paying for it all. But now we've come to the point where they're going to charge us per diem, which is $400 a day, so not a good value. The rooms were much like a hospital room with two hospital beds and a screen in between the two beds. There's a little side table for each bed, and then a small bathroom for each room. Depending on the side of the building, they have a large sliding glass door, so you could either go into the courtyard or you could go out onto a patio on the street side. So that was nice. There's a good view, too.

Alamitos West Health Care Center is a great nursing home. The staff members are good. My mother doesn't complain about the food. It's hospital food, so you don't really expect much out of it. Her room is clean. Right now, they don't do anything because of COVID, but before that, she was doing activities. They are pretty prompt with communications. They have a courtyard area, too. Her room is good, roomy, and clean. It is a safe place.

I've seen the Alamitos West Health & Rehabilitation. I had a relative there, they were in rehab for their kidney, they were treated for dialysis, and a little bit of a heart condition. It was very well kept, very clean, very organized. The rooms are very accessible to the outdoors, they have a sliding door for most of the rooms -- not all of them -- where the patient can step out and get some sunshine without having to go all the way around. They have little chairs outside that they can sit out in for a couple of minutes. It's very family and people oriented. It's very positive. The staff was fantastic. The first time, they walked me to the room, showed me around. "The physical therapy room is over here, this is where we have our lunches, this is the cafeteria, the dining room, this is the recreation center." It was very, very professional. My cousin liked the food.

My 90 year old Mom receives great care at Alamitos West. While I visit my Mom almost daily, staff calls me if there ever are any issues that occur. I highly recommend this place.

My friend was at Alamitos West Health Center for two months. The food wasn't any good. She wouldn't eat it. It was terrible. They also lost her clothes. I'm still asking them for her clothes, but nobody returns my messages. I wouldn't go back there again. The rooms seem to be okay. I think they need to improve on their food quality. Also there's no phone there, so that’s another issue. But the place seemed to be clean.

My mother was at Alamitos West Health Care Center two or three times before she became a permanent resident. She needs 24/7 care, so now we have her there long term. We live close by, and I am very happy with it. The people are very friendly. They serve good meals. I can't say anything negative; everything is positive the way I feel about it. She is happy with the food, and if you don't feel like eating it, they'll bring you something else. They are very accommodating. The room is beautiful, and it is big enough and clean. They have a lot of activities going on daily like bingo and games. They always have some kind of entertainment, they have people come in to teach hula, and someone comes in to play the piano for music. The dining room is beautiful, and it is seasonal; like for Halloween, they had a Halloween party and they had it all decorated and then Thanksgiving and now Christmas. The staff are very nice. They want to make you happy, and they care about their people. I highly recommend this facility.

What I like best about Alamitos West is that it's neat and clean, and it doesn't smell. They have good food, and they take care of my mom real well. They have very good food with very good selections. If it's not what you like, you can have any kind of sandwich or hotdog, and they come on with different dessert, so food is very good.

This facility provides ample care for those who have recently been discharged from a local hospital or are residing here on a long term or permanent basis. You must pay a visit to this facility during the day and during the night to obtain a clearer picture of your family member or friend's upcoming stay. The day time shift is packed full of staff members who are very attentive to the needs of all of their residents in a timely manner. I understand that the night is supposed to be more calm due to residents wanting to rest, but if you peer down the hallway and will see rows of call lights that have been illuminated for various reasons. You want to have patients tended to in about a minute from the nearest station, but my family and I have seen neighboring residents go unattended to for periods of 7 minutes or greater. A lot can happen during that period, especially with the elderly. The staff itself is fine. They are just lacking the proper numbers to handle their patients in a timely manner.

Well, I visited my girlfriend at Alamitos West Health Care Center, so she gave me tour of the whole facility. I found out a number of administrative problems in the facility as the Facility was not administered in a manner that promotes resident. The facility did not have a quality assurance committee(s) and do not keep complete medical records for each resident. The environment of the Facility was also not admirable it must have adequate furnishings and space in the dining room, and it must provide for comfortable sound levels. The facility must report abuse and must keep confidential all information in residents' medical record which I found was not soo in practice the facility was not resolving the resident grievance which must promptly resolve resident grievances. The service provided by the facility was not provided by qualified persons the facility must utilize the resident's assessment to develop of a plan of care for the welfare of the staff. This is what I saw there and found wrong, but they are improving the facility that's it.
