I visited this facility

We have moved from looking at assisted living places to more nursing care facilities because we just felt my uncle needed a higher level of care. I toured the Long Beach Healthcare Center and we won't move him to that place. It's too crammed with people and it also smelled. The occupancy was too high. They have 278 beds and people are just stacked there like sardines. It's probably an exaggeration but that's how I felt. I would say that the staff helped give me information and give me the tour. I did not see any food but the dining room was very small for that amount of people. I think that more people stay in their beds to eat. It's a different level from assisted living. In assisted living, a lot of the places feel like you're in an apartment yourself and you have the supervision if you need it. Improving the smell of the place would help them because that's the first thing that hits you when you come in. Maybe they could also spruce up the dining room and some areas. They need to just make the whole facility feel more inviting and positive for the residents. I know that it is a nursing home but I've seen several other nursing homes too and that one just made me kind of cry after I left there, for the people that were there. They have a physical therapy room. They also have a courtyard but that needs sprucing up too.
