I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad is now at Long Beach Care Center. When I went there, it was a nice place. There were a lot of people walking around, but it seemed like they were dazed. The staff members are pretty good. They keep in touch with me. However, I don't like their prices.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Worst convalescent hospital ever. They have no concern over patient dietary needs or allergies. My uncle has had bed sores, cellulitis, and a gastrointestinal infection for months. Little has been done to make him comfortable. He was only supposed to be here for a few months while he convalesced from a surgery and it has been almost three years because he keeps getting infections. He is supposed to be on a low sodium and sugar free diet, but that is not what they have been giving him. Full sugar jam, juices, peanut butter and prepackaged ham, bologna, processed cheese, hormel tamales are what the kitchen provides. His last meal consisted of three thin grilled slices of prepackaged ham and a fourth of a cup of burnt rotting broccoli. The place smells of urine, feces, and death. The nursing staff is overworked and the management doesn't give a rats behind about anything other than getting paid. If you value your loved ones find another location.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother was in the care of the Long Beach Care Center and recently passed away. I have nothing but the highest praise for the whole staff at LBCC. My mother suffered with dementia and was very difficult "most" of the time. I was able to stop by at anytime and the staff was so caring and gentle with her. Besides being professional the staff also cared about the family members. I want to say THANK YOU to all of the staff at Long Beach Care Center, I will never forget you.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My brother is in Long Beach Care Center, and he is perfectly happy there. The place is in pretty good shape. It is always clean. The nurses and the helpers are very polite. They seem to be competent in their job. My brother has no complaints. He has a nice room there. He is able to bring in his own TV, easy chair, a microwave, and a refrigerator. There is a bed there, and he is very comfortable. They do have activities, but my brother did not participate. Sometimes he likes the food, and sometimes he doesn't, so it depends on what they are serving. The surroundings are nice. All of the help and the medical personnel I talk with seem very caring and very competent. The administration and the office people are very open to discussion on what is going on. It is a good place. He likes it because the VA is paying for it completely.

I visited this facility

The VA gave us a list of where to go and one of this is Long Beach Care Center. This place disappointed me that is why I walked out. All the people were just in their wheelchairs in the hallway and the place smelled urine. I wouldn't put my dog in there. I think they need to tear it down and start new. It's a horrible thing to see.
