I would recommend Centinela Valley Care Retirement. I had my mother there and it's fabulous. The meals they served were gorgeous and delicious. I've got samples of that. The staff members were courteous. They called me with any medical changes they wanted to make with her. Then COVID hit and they were there Johnny on the spot, notified the families and staff about the care they got. It was wonderful. I recommend that place to anyone who needs any kind of service. She died peacefully in her sleep and she was groomed, smelled good, and was bathed regularly. The doctors came in and checked her regularly and the nurses were there taking her blood pressure. They found out she was a slight diabetic. They treated that and they were just up on her health all the way. What was so beautiful about it was the Centinela Hospital was directly across the street. So, if she had any kind of allergic reaction, they took her right across the street and checked her in straight away. It was worth every penny. They called me a day before she passed and told me that if I wanted to come and visit, it was time to come see her, and I'm so thankful for that because I got to hold her, kiss her, and love her. The following morning she passed so it was a beautiful homegoing for her.

My mother is in Centinela Valley Care Retirement. The atmosphere is pretty good. The food is sometimes off, sometimes good. They have toast and eggs in the morning a lot of times. They've been given protein lately, but most of the time there's no meat at all. Her room is nice and they try to clean up because it's a little messy sometimes. They have chess, checkers, and different games. You can have a roommate or a private room. Her room is one of the cheapest around.

Centinela Valley Care seemed to be pretty well kept, had a variety of different activities, and was reasonably priced. The facility was nice but could have been nicer. They didn't have carpets. They had linoleum, so they could mop it in case it got dirty.

My father used to stay at Centinela Valley Retirement Center. The staff there was very caring and observant. They had one nurse and one nurse assistant for ten rooms. I think they needed more staff assistance and help. The rooms were not that spacious, but they were adequate. I have not tried the food there, however, my father loved the food. They had the common activities most nursing homes had. In the end, what mattered was my father liked it there a lot more than the other place he was in.

The staff and the admitting person at Centinela were wonderful, and they were very professional, but I think they need to be more hands on with where the patients were placed, what they are doing, and if they are OK as the residents looked like they were lost and wandering, and I didn’t like that.

I was in Centinela Valley Care Retirement for rehabilitation, and I wouldn't mind going back there. One big bonus was they have internet there. They had almost a cafeteria-style dining room, which was fairly decent. They also had physical therapy, and they had a fairly large staff: physical therapists, nurses, and RNAs. There are two persons for every room, but the rooms were fairly large. They've got dominoes and cards. They can improve their screening process a little better; there were some people who didn't belong there.

This place was a real lifesaver for my family and I. As my grandmother's condition began to deteriorate and it became clear that she needed more assistance than our family could give her we began researching assisted living facilities. One of the reasons we chose this facility was because she was able to have her own apartment with a small kitchen so on the days she felt up to it should could could her own meals, clean her own apartment and live pretty independently. On days when she was particularly ill or tired she had the option of eating the prepared meals. We always knew that she would be checked on throughout the day and if something was off we would be contacted. My grandmother was able to live there right up until her last days. This place gave her the dignity of being as independent as she could while also being cared for around the clock. Not to mention, they were able to work with her insurance and set up a payment plan that left us with a very small portion of the expenses.
