My sister is in the Copper River Retirement Group. We chose it for her because they accept Medi-Cal. It's also a very small place with only 6 rooms. There are at least 1 or 2 caregivers there 24 hours a day, so it's more of personal care. It's also close to my house, only 5 miles away, so I can always see my sister. She's receiving assisted care. It's a small care home and 3 of the five doors inside open up to the living and kitchen areas so the residents are easily seen. They have no problem serving their food in their rooms if they need to because it is a small house. When it's full, there are 6 beds there but right now, they only have 4. My sister has been there a little over a month now. When she needs help, she calls for the staff and they come. I just got her a bell yesterday too so she doesn't have to holler. She needs it because she needs help out of bed and doesn't get out by herself anymore. They bring her food to her and ask her every time if she wants to try to get up and sit at the table. They're very nice and check on her all the time. Breakfast is kind of okay and they cook most of their meals, so it's good and not fast food. The facility itself is very nice too. For activities, they do color, watch TV, and go for walks. I think the value for money is good.

My husband was at the Copper River Retirement Group and although he needed more extensive care because of the problems that he was having, they took very good care of him, and the place was very, very nice. The staff was very caring, they attended to all of his needs, and they kept me informed if he was agitated or if he was having a good day, or how his blood pressure was, and any other issues. Also, I was allowed to visit every day if I wanted to be there. Their visiting hours were from 8 am to 7 pm. When he had a doctor's appointment, I had to call for medical transport. So, they always get him ready when transportation comes. So, they were just very nice people. He had a one-bedroom and it had a hospital bed in it. It was just like a bedroom at home. It was very nice and everything was clean. They had activities and residents had TVs in their rooms. Then they had a big TV room where you could sit out and talk with the other residents that were there if you chose to. They had a table for activities like motor skills and stuff.
