Gardens at Escondido felt like the right place for my husband. There were so many things that he liked. They had outdoor garden areas where they had equipment for sweeping (he loves to sweep) and then they had a movie theater. They also had Christian programming. They had Bible studies and Sunday services. Those were things that were very attractive to us. They also have a visiting podiatrist, which is pretty helpful. Then my husband has a private room and private baths at half the cost of similar facilities in the San Diego County area. He loves it and one of the highlights of this place is the cleanliness. They keep everything very clean and he loves that as well. We like the residents. They all look out for each other. It's so sweet. They're very, very precious (this is in their memory care department). We just love them. It feels like home. I'm a very healthy cook, and some of the food, in my opinion, is not the healthiest for seniors. There's too much sodium/high salt content in a lot of them. It is not particularly good, but it's fairly well- balanced. Every lunch (because that's the time I'm usually there), they have soup, a main dish with a side, and a dessert. So, that's good and snacks can be ordered when someone is hungry, but the food could be more nutritionally chosen for senior diets. That would probably be one of my few cons. Another one is that some of the caregivers, to me, are not quite as attentive as they need to be as to what's going on with the people. Some of them are outstanding, others not so much. They have excellent activities, but not so much for the memory care people.

We toured Gardens at Escondido. It's a wonderful place. I would highly recommend it. I like it a lot. It's like a well kept cul-de-sac place. The hallway was like a hotel, the hallways, the library, and all these different places that people could go in, and the people there were just very friendly. They enjoy being there. The staff was very wonderful and all the staff that we talked to went out of their way to be friendly, asked if we needed anything if we had any questions, and showed us several different areas like a one-bedroom or even a two-bedroom unit, that kind of thing. It was just impressive. The memory care, they took us through there. It's really nice to have an outdoor place that's safe for them to go out even though it's on the third floor. They have trees and stuff like that where people could go out and enjoy being outdoors but being safe outdoors, which I liked. The freshly baked cookies were good. We enjoyed those.

Gardens at Escondido is the one that impressed me a lot. They have wide open spaces and not a lot of crowding. There's a lot of attention given to each patient. They have a lot of gardens around the whole place where they grow things. They encourage people to get out, and they have individual living facilities for like groups in a home. They have various homes spread out throughout the community that they populated exclusively themselves, and it was reasonably priced for that. The staff is very approachable and very in tune with what was going on with each of the clients. They try to encourage residents to do various activities. It seems to be a very friendly atmosphere. It isn't overly structured; it is casual. The community is not fancy, but everything is safe and well kept.

I like the size of Gardens at Escondido. The rooms were a nice size. The staff who gave the tour was friendly and helpful. The building was very updated and very clean. The community was very quiet, but it seemed to have a good vibe.

I toured Gardens at Escondido. The room was beautiful, clean, and nicely proportioned. It was a nice facility. They had a rooftop garden, a library, and a bistro for coffee and socializing. The library and the garden were maintained by the residents, and so you can tell that there are a lot of positive activities going on. There was bingo going on, and they showed us a huge calendar of all the activities that they provide the residents. The staff were lovely. A lady took time out of her day, not knowing whether we were coming or not, and she was very sweet, energetic, and positive. You can tell she enjoyed her job.

My wife has been at Gardens at Escondido since the 3rd of October. It has a homey atmosphere. We decorated her room with familiar items. She has her own bathroom. It's nothing fancy, but it's familiar stuff to my wife. The staff seemed to be caring and helpful people. When somebody wanders around, they take them by the hand and distract them. The residents watch movies and they take them out on a field trip on a bus. My wife does quilting which she likes to do, and they do exercises too. At this point, I like what I'm seeing.

I took the whole tour. The room was a little smaller than what my mom was looking for, but it was nice. The staff was very nice and informative too. They have a tiny courtyard outside and I was given a box of muffins for the tour.

It is a smaller-sized community, which is something we were looking for. It has a memory care unit and a great staff. They have a lot of activities daily and a salon, which I think is important.

It was really great. The people were really nice, and it seemed like the caregivers were really great. I've had the chance to go there a couple of times, and the people that give us the tours were really great. The facility was clean. It really had a lot of good things going for it, and I really wished we could convince my mother to go there. In fact, I made a comment when we were on the tour; I said, "Oh, my daughter would love to put me in a place like this." It was wonderful. We had lunch there, and it was nice. I liked the facility a lot. I would recommend it to other people.

I thought it was fine, including the staff, and had a good set of activities. They had a calendar which was pretty full with a lot of things to choose from which I thought that was good. The rooms were fine.

It was a very nice place. The staff was nice and friendly; I met one of the staff members before when I was looking for a retirement living for my aunt. The rooms were nice but small, and the place was clean and nice-looking.

I thought it is a wonderful facility. They seem to have plenty of activities for my mother, and the residents there seem to be very happy. It looked like they had good food. She is the one who will ultimately make the decision, but it looked good to me. I know of the place through my work because we deliver to their kitchen. Every time I've ever been there, whatever they were cooking smelled wonderful. They were clean, and they were very attentive. The apartments were very nice. We were looking at a one-bedroom, and they were wonderful. I didn't get into the kind of activities, but they do have various activities. They have everything from bingo to entertainment in house. They did have some stuff if you wanted to go out. If nothing else, they were able to provide activities that left the facility. I didn't really see anything that I thought that they really need to improve upon.

We put my father-in-law here, and we are very happy with the local facility. We are very happy with it and very comfortable. He has a single room on the ground floor. The activities include bingo and card games as well as local outings to local casino. He has been there for four months, and we haven't seen anything negative yet. The staff is fine. The food is great, and everything is fine.
