Redwood Terrace has very good ratings, and from what I can tell, they deserve them. They watch their assisted living folks very nicely and check on them every couple of hours. For the most part, they have it together. Their assisted living doesn't matter how much or how little assistance you need, unlike other places. Plus, they have a full-care nursing facility available. With all those things combined, they're the obvious choice.

I thought Redwood Terrace was amazing. I liked their core values, and I thought it was just great. They had something like cocktails and conversation and it was like they had some snacks, beverages, cocktails, and mocktails and whatnot. The coordinator was the one who assisted me with the tour. She was talking to so many people and she just took the time for everybody. She was pretty thorough and quick, but she took the time to show us an available unit. The apartments were like cute little bungalows, and that's what they called it. They had a courtyard and they offered haircuts and manicures once a month. Their core value was that when you buy into a bungalow or a unit, they had some kind of fund that if you outlived your money, you would not get kicked to the curb. I was amazed by that. It was reasonably priced, but then everybody would pay into that fund. They called it the Benevolent Fund. They had some hors d'oeuvres and cocktails when we were there, and my dad tried the cocktails.

I did a tour of Redwood Terrace, and I was really concerned about the price. It's $15,000 a month. It was too spread out, and the parking was a problem. All those things matter to me because I'm there a lot with my dad. The apartments were very nice, and everything seemed clean. It was just too spread out for me for my dad. I think they would probably take very good care of them. We saw people feeding some of the people that couldn't eat and stuff like that. It looks like they were very caring. The staff I met were great. They had a wonderful physical therapy room, and my dad does require that. They had a lot of staff to take care of the people. It seemed they were pretty well staffed.

We visited Redwood Terrace and thought it was very nice. They've been making some renovations which looked like they'll be very good, and they have a lot of cottages that were separate houses. Overall, we liked it. The staff seemed nice. They have all the amenities including a salon. We went over all the things that they have like the gym, we went into some of the rooms, and we went into one of their houses or cottages. The rooms were more spacious than I thought they would be. They looked well-kept and nice.

We chose Redwood Terrace, the people there are very helpful. We're going into a casa instead of an apartment, and that's the main reason. In terms of activities, they have about everything. They have trips, exercise, pool, games, lectures, a library, movies, and a chapel. The food is excellent. They have about every facility, classes, they have walking paths and lots of open space, a computer room, wood workshop, and a duty shop.

Redwood Terrace is very good. I particularly like the 2-bedroom, backyard, front yard, security, and the people were courteous. They helped me to decide how I would be set up there. They showed me what it was like for the dining, physical therapy, exercise, fitness, skilled nursing, and assisted living. Everything looked good. The food was good and the dining area was fine. They had plenty of activities. They had a pool and a separate fitness facility which is very nice. The place was not something you'd call extravagant, just basic good stuff.

Redwood Terrace had great amenities, food services, and dining room. They had outings and all kinds of get togethers. It was a beautiful place as well as the staff. I saw the memory and assisted living facilities.

Redwood Terrace seemed clean and safe but was more of a nursing home with a hospital feel over a homey feel. The rooms were more like a hospital room than a home bedroom. They seemed fine and roomy with a hospital bed. It was very clean but definitely flet less personal and more institutional. It had a TV room. They had different levels of skilled care and were friendly.

Thank you for your feedback, Keri, and for visiting us at Redwood Terrace. While we're certainly proud of our health services you mentioned, skilled nursing is just one component of our overall community. As a Continuing Care Retirement Community, we offer a spectrum of living options, including independent living, memory care and assisted living for those who need some additional care and support. Apartments, single-family homes and even private cottages are available, all which are tailored to the unique wants and requirements of each new resident. We'd love for you to come visit us again and see some of these options you may have missed. Kurt Norden, Executive Director, Redwood Terrace

Redwood Terrace is an older facility, but it's not a problem. They have expert care there. The people there who take you around are very friendly, and experienced in running a facility like that. They have a vast staff that really looks out for the people's medical requirements, and they seem to be very good. The lunch that we had there was very good, and presentable. They have a pretty extensive library, a gift shop, and an exercise room.

Redwood Terrace is an older facility with a wider variety of accommodations because of the way they operate the buy-in apartments and small homes. The two rooms that I saw were being renovated for new occupants.
Provider Response
One of the most unique features of Redwood Terrace is having a variety of homes to fit different lifestyles. We're excited to showcase our campus renovations and hope you will certainly come again to see our updates. Thank you for visiting!

The best one was Redwood Terrace. It was very comfortable, the staff was very friendly, and it had a full memory care facility, which is what we needed for my grandparents. The facility was very clean and it didn’t feel like you’re in a hospital environment, it felt just like you were at home. The staff had been wonderful. They’ve been very friendly and were just very thoughtful, kind, and very resourceful. A lot of information that they provided to us was very helpful.

We were impressed with Redwood Terrace, but it seemed rather institutional. It was spread out and looked nice, but it had a high buy-in fee. The resident amenities were comparable to others, and they had a pool.

We looked at Redwood Terrace and thought it was a very nice and pleasant place. The food was good. The apartments have full kitchens and washers and dryers. Everybody was pleasant and helpful. They have everything. I really can’t say anything bad about this community at all, but Escondido was too big of a town for me.
Provider Response
Yes, Escondido is a bustling town and you can travel to the country within minutes and the mountains and deserts within 90 minutes. Lots to enjoy in this mid-size town and environs.

I visited Redwood Terrace. I like the size of it, and I like the way the grounds are set up. The gardens are kept beautifully. What I like is that they have a nice two-bedroom, two-bath that will be almost perfect for me. I'm the first one on the list when one becomes available. The facility was spotless. Also the unit that I want has a washer and dryer unit right in the hallway.

Before my wife passed away, I took her to Redwood Terrace when she was recovering from surgery. She was there for a couple of weeks, and I was there everyday. Everything was excellent there -- the staff, the treatment -- and you can park your car inside the community; it was an excellent place. It was a big place, they have rooms and apartments, and then they have the recovering people where she was. I took a tour, they have an excellent dining room, and I heard the food was excellent. It was like a restaurant where you order off of a menu, and you don't get the same things every day.

We went to Redwood Terrace, and we were most interested in it. What we like about Redwood Terrace is they have cottages, duplexes, they have several free standing cottages, and they have fourplexes. We chose a duplex -- we actually put money down on it -- and they are very nice about 1200 square feet, two bedrooms, and they do painting on the inside. We came close, but then we decided that we were just going to stay in our own house. Everything was very positive. I thought the nursing care facility are all private rooms; the rooms open to a patio, and that is very nice. It’s also a lot less expensive than some other places, very reasonable. We had lunch there about four times. When my adult children and me visited, I would say the food at the lunch were very average, and it was a buffet although they say that you can have a table service if you requested; it’s just OK. We went through the whole facility, and the skilled nursing was very good. All individual rooms was nice; they didn’t have to share rooms. They are building a new memory care facility so it will be complete.

At Redwood Terrace, their amenities were really nice; however, they lost my parent's paperwork. Also, they don't ever call back. The facilities were nice and they had great service, but they lost my paperwork, so I had to go back and fill it out again, but they never returned my calls, so I'm not really happy with them. Nevertheless, their dining room was nice. It was very nice and appealing. Also, they have activities. They even have a van that takes you places. They have assisted living, nursing care, and long-term care.

My grandmother and great aunt spent several happy years here. The staff was very friendly and helpful, there were plenty of activities and the food was pretty good too. I would definitely recommend Redwood Terrace to prospective residents.

I didn't see very many people in Redwood Terrace the day we went there. Everybody seemed to be inside their cottages or their rooms. There weren't many people walking around or doing things, which I thought was strange. Regarding staff, a couple of people we talked to were friendly. The sales person gave us a lot of information. They did have a lot of actually small cottages and then they also have some that were more apartment-style. We saw one cottage and it looked fine. It was small but not so small that you would uncomfortable. It was nice though.

It was very homey. It wasn't really like being in a hospital. It was very comfortable. It was much more like being in a retirement community as oppose to a rehabilitative setting which made us very happy. There were like small apartments which made it like an easier transmission with my mother. The staff seemed very nice.

My mother is currently staying at this facility due to sustaining a CVA 5 years ago. She required a lot of assistance and care that my husband and I were unable to provide. We chose this place based on her care received while in their SNF care. The nurses are great and very compassionate in the care they provide for my mother. I'm always able to touch basis with them when I come and visit her. The therapy department is fantastic. Although her insurance no longer provides for physical therapy, they have a program there that enables them to work with her on a cash basis. The rates are fair and although the improvements have been small, we continue to growth. The facility is clean and there are a variety of gardens to enjoy including roses and citrus trees. There are a lot of activities that are offered throughout the day to keep my mother busy.

Redwood Town Court is a wonderful community. The staff is kind, courteous and provides great service. The community features many great amenities such as a pool, gym, salon, game rooms, transportation and activities around town. I'd recommend Redwood Town Court to anyone. Another great thing is that this community is very welcoming to visiting family members, allowing them to partake in activities and meal times. Security is on site. Entertainment is common, and movies are shown frequently. Many different classes such as tai chi and astronomy are available. Food is outstanding with a large variety. The menu here also provides many healthy options for those on a special or restrictive diet. The apartments themselves are modern and spacious with many different layouts available. Balconies and large picture windows afford great views of Escondido and the surrounding mountains. Finally the location cannot be beat in Escondido, within walking distance are attractions, museums and Grand Avenue, which features many shops, restaurants and events throughout the year.I really cannot say enough good things about Redwood Town Court!

After looking at many different facilities, my 90-year old parents chose Redwood Terrace in 2010. They are very pleased! With the nearest family 1,300 miles away, it was essential that the Redwood staff be available by phone 24/7 and function as a surrogate family. Thier professionalism and skill levels are top notch. But the most important attribute is the "caring." Every member of the staff from reception, security, maintenance, medical, social, dining, administrative, finance to management--they all care! And it shows in everything they do! Superb organization and facilities!
