My mother is a resident of El Dorado Hills Senior Care Village assisted living. The facility is clean. The major reason for choosing it is that they're individual homes that make up a village. Each individual place is on the smaller side, which is good because my mom gets kind of lost in big facilities. The staff does their job well. The home where my mom is doesn't have activities because most of the residents in that particular home are not active. If she wants to go play bingo, they would take her to one of the other homes in the village. The dining area is nice, it looks like a regular dining room like you would have in a home. They make an attempt to provide the things that the residents request.

My father was in El Dorado Hills Senior Care Village. There are six homes, and there are six beds each. They're in a neighborhood, and they're next door to each other, so it's like a cul de sac of homes. It looked older. It's not very clean. There's a lot of turnovers and the staff is overworked. They don't provide care at night. So they sleep, and no one's checking on anybody. There are rarely any activities. They only have a bingo once a week, and no one's encouraged to go. There's no activities director. The meals are mediocre. They don't have a generator. My dad was on oxygen, so that was not good. And so every time the power went out, we had to have backup oxygen tanks or take him out of his facility because he was on oxygen. I would say there are no amenities. They increased our rent one year by $700, and the year before by $200, and they provide nothing. They need a new administration. No one gets along. None of the staff and administration get along and they bully them and don't pay them well. They need to hire more employees.

Both my parents became residents at the Oakridge location of El Dorado Hills senior care village in summer of 2021. Initially, my parents received a "special rate" because they both were becoming new residents. My father was a dementia patient, and about 2-3 months at their new home, he somehow managed to walk away from the facility, and was found a few blocks away by the local fire dept. and he was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, he was not hit by a car or ?? The county ombudsman became involved and investigated the matter and learned that there were no security measures in place. Afterwards, cheap window and door alarms were placed on doors & windows, and I was admonished by the administrator that on-duty staff sleeps at night time, and thus no one is awake at all times there. In addition my parents "special rate" increased an extra $400 after staying there only 5 months. My father passed away there at the beginning of 2022, and I had to remind the facility to reimburse me for his unused rent payment. A month after my father passed, I was given less than a week's notice that my mom's rent would increase almost an additional $1,000. I informed the administrator that by law I was entitled to more of a notice, so I was told the increase would begin the following month. I declined the increase and informed them i would be moving my mother soon. However, unfortunately, my mom passed away at the facility two weeks later!

I'm currently living in El Dorado Hills Senior Care Village. It was chosen for me. The room is nice, but I have no shower in here. The shower is down the hall. Food is OK, nothing special. The staff is OK. We only have one person on duty all the time. The person that cooks is the only one that is here, and there's nobody to do any maintenance or anything. I haven't done any activities. They have bingo up on the board outside of the rooms, but I've never heard bingo being called for. I don't think that anybody in this place is able to play bingo. We have a beautician that comes out once a month and somebody else comes in and does nails. I'm not really pleased with this place. There's only one person at a time here. I have a button to push to call them. One night I called three times, and nobody ever came because it was time to go to bed.
