My brother has moved into Corona Care Retirement. Its very nice for the price, which is decent. The people take care of the problems and the whole place has been remodeled. My brother's private room is kept clean. It has a shared bath in between the other person's room. He has a little patio which he can go out. It's really quite nice. My brother is paying $1,850 a month which is just unreal for that price for what we've looked around at. There's plenty of activities, and they decorate the place for the holidays. They have someone to take them shopping. It's an older building and not really fancy, but it's clean and doesn't smell when you go inside. We're very satisfied with it. Adriana, the facility director, is very sweet and helpful.

The facility is called Corona Care in Corona California. I wanted to get the best facility I could for what my mother's insurance would cover. She's about 20 to 30 minutes from where she lived before. Part of the reason I liked this facility is that it's clean. Formerly it was a church, so when you walked in, it has very high ceilings. There was none of the feeling of claustrophobia. They have 60 rooms; some of it is jointly share with a roommate such as my mother's while some are single occupancy. They share a Jack and Jill bathroom facility. The Medtechs oversee their medication to make sure they receive it at the proper time and the proper dosage. They have been doing such a good job that mom thinks she is well enough to live alone. The staff has been terrific. That is one of the reasons I visited first to talk to people and quietly observe without them kind of knowing I was there. I walked in their dining area, recreation area, the hallways, and everyone was always very friendly. They have a calendar for activities, like bingo, movies, and their own version of Jeopardy. They were asked questions, and the audience could raise their hands and answer to keep their mind sharp. I sat with my mother through one of the meals. The food by standards of someone in their own homes is very bland, but I understand the challenges of different diets

My grandmother lived at Corona Care Convalescent, but she died last September. She was well taken care of. They watched out after her and made sure that she had what she needed. The food seemed fine. The facility needs some updating as it is an older facility, but other than that, they kept it nice.

Corona Care Retirement Convalescent is almost like a hospital. It is overcrowded, and they weren't always able to keep up with everything. Some of my requests were ignored for my dad. I went there one time, and it wasn’t the cleanest place. I had asked them to change his sheets. The bathroom had feces on it. They tried taking care of their patients, but there's just so many patients in there. The staff did not let me know anything. If I need to find out anything, I needed to ask when I visited my father. Dad was there for rehab, and the doctors send him in there. They have a karaoke machine and live music in the day room, and that was good. The physical therapy department is nice too.
