Camarillo Healthcare Center is really nice, and the people are helpful. My parents don't have any problems. We see most of the staff talking to patients, especially those for long-term care. I would recommend them to anybody because their care is really good.

Why does this facility not have a dining room to go to. There is a sign but the trays were brought to the room. The lady next to my Mom her tray was put in her bed. What if someone chokes or needs help cutting meat. There are 3 beds to a room which means really tight quarters and not much room for walkers, wheelchairs etc.

I had spoken to the head of the kitchen about my husband's need for a no white carbohydrate diet. It was in writing. The chef cannot read English, and he relies on his kitchen aide helper to read it to him. Despite the fact that I had gone in and told them not to give him desserts nor any carbs, they served him the following: coffee cake for breakfast and an apple crumb dessert. He had to be given insulin and this was against the hospital and his doctor's order to him. The head of the kitchen blamed it on the nutritionist who "approves' the blanket menu that is served to ALL patients. This is ridiculous to say the least . I had to threaten to take him out of their facility. They didn't like that; they did apologize, but my husband had been getting needless insulin shots regardless of my order. I had to fight with them , scream and yell to get them to follow my orders based on the hospital and the doctor of my husband, and not to follow their dietitian's "approval'. My husband had to empty his own waste basket. I didn't like the pee on the toilet seat in the rest room in the patients' room. His TV for his bed didn't have a remote. Good bingo nightly. Good physical therapy.

I was put in Camarillo Health Care for about 2 weeks. I couldn't walk and was told I had use a bed pan or get up and walk to the restroom. The place was dirty and the most of the care givers were hateful. I had to go back to the hospital and never returned there. Thank GOD.

I am amazed that this facility hasn't been cited for Health Code violations! This is an unsanitary facility staffed by uninformed nurses and apathetic staff members. It was my experience that scattered among the below average employees there existed a few assistants that were kind. I cannot recommend a facility where patients wait endlessly for assistance when they ring for help and the number one concern is their liability rather than the welfare of a patient.

The PT and OT department is terrific. Food is horrible and they do not honor requests and notes. My mom requested no eggs and soup with every meal. This never happened. The activities director was to provide her with magazines and that never happened. Not sure why you have a care plan meeting when requests are not met. The wait time on a call request for a CNA is HORRIBLE. Once while visiting my mom, we waiting 30 minutes before a CNA came and checked on her. When you arrive those in charge make it seem like they are on top of things and care by always calling people to get things done. However this does not happen on a daily basis. There is a horrible smell is this facility. Yes, I know it's a nursing home, but it doesn't always need to smell like urine and fecal matter. The bathroom has a horrible smell as if it never gets cleaned. They do not do a thorough cleaning under the beds. I had to pick up something that fell under the bed and it was dusty, had big pieces of dirt and hair. Several CNAs were new and had no idea how to handle the patient. My mom's roommate was practically hacking up a lung and they didn't seem to do anything for her. My mom ended up leaving with the same cough. Hopefully it doesn't turn into pneumonia. Those in charge certainly know how to talk the talk but they do not walk the walk. The tv was out in the facility for almost an entire day. Most of these residents spend the majority of their time watching tv. Not a good thing to have happen. Like I said, the OT and PT department is great. The rest of it was horrible. Hopefully we will never have to experience this place again.
