This is a most unique small B&C Home in a nice family neighborhood in north Orange County. The owner is a most unique individual who is devoted to quality of life issues for her residents. One of my private practice clients has been in her facility 5+ years. She has severe mental health issues intermingled with dementia, a severe hearing deficit and has exhibited major disruptive behavior issues during the entire length of stay. The owner and staff see past the behavior and offer residents love and understanding while still providing boundaries and rules. The staff prepares healthy meals: organic vegetables, farm-fresh eggs, etc. along with herbal supplements. My client's behavior and health issues have improved since her placement at Brea Retreat. With these serious behavior issues, it would been unlikely to find any other facility that provides such wonderful care. This facility has both shared (2 person) and private rooms, several of which face patios. In short, the owner will accept "difficult to place" clients and provide the best of care. Not only are residents treated well at the facility itself, but the owner visits them during hospitalizations and works closely with families to utilize community resources often assisting with completion of applications for MediCal and VA benefits
