I'm currently in Windsor Gardens Convalescent Center of Anaheim. I've been here for a year and a half now. It's a little bit over 100 beds. They operate 24 hours a day. It's a good facility, and they have a lot of foreign languages being spoken here. They have activities departments and rehab departments. They have skilled nursing for persons who are completely bedridden to persons who are just staying here for a short stint. It's pretty well run. The staff is friendly, multilingual, and straightforward. The average age range in the staff is probably around 35 or 40 years old, so it's a pretty healthy staff. They have skilled nurses on staff 24 hours a day. The food is pretty good. The dining area is cafeteria-style. Although it is served by servers at your tables, it's not cafeteria-style where you stand in line to get your food. They have double rooms, triple rooms, and private rooms. You can either eat in the cafeteria with people serving you food and refreshments, or you can eat in the privacy of your room, whichever you feel more comfortable with. The community is pretty loose-knit. There's a lot of freedom. They can have patios and you can go outside. We have persons who smoke, and they have a smoking area for those persons with different patios to go to. You can spend a lot of time outside. They move you around to keep you comfortable. So if you don't get along with your roommates in a double room or a triple room, they'll move you around to accommodate you. They supply all your transportation to and from hospitals and doctors' appointments outside. They have a good medical service where they provide medications, day and night, whatever is necessary. They have long-term treatment and short-term treatment, whatever is necessary. Maintenance is good. The place is cleaned daily. They keep up with cleaning up accidents or any spills and things that do occur. The rooms are cleaned, mopped, and sanitized every day. The beds were made every day. Maintenance is updated and well kept. However, they're very adamant about your financial abilities.

My loved one's stay at Windsor Gardens was not a very good experience. While he was there, he got a bad infection. They were taking the catheter in and out a few times, so it probably had something to do with that. He did fine on Saturday when we all visited him and on Sunday morning, they said he was running a high fever. Instead of calling 911, they waited for the son to get there, and he almost passed away. We all thought he was gone, but he made an amazing recovery. It was not the cleanest place and not an environment for him to keep his mind better.

This place is terrible! If they were as concerned with their residents as they are for their employee ice cream social, it would be a different story. My mother was there for three weeks too long. Belongings were missing and no follow up. As soon as my mother was discharged, they stopped returning calls. Took three days for a hospital bed to be delivered to the board and care, no wheelchair ever showed up. Nurses at the desk are clueless.

This facility is unsanitary. My mom stays here and I have to come in a few times a week to provide extra care because of the staff neglect. Due to a stroke, she can't feed or bathe herself. They have neglected her in so many ways. They have left her hungry numerous time if I don't come in and feed her. She has been left wet and dirty for long periods of time therefore causing rashes and sores. Her personal belongings has come up missing constantly. I have brought in numerous sandals, shoes, and clothing to replace the lost or stolen ones. Laundry is atrocious here. Asking for basic towels and wash cloth to shower my own family member is like asking them to run a marathon. They either are short or don't have it at all and they say the laundry is close all the time. I hear other patients calling for assistance and no one ever comes to help. Patients here are only scheduled twice a week for showers and they still neglect to do this that's why I have to come in and do it myself. I have brought these issues and concerns up with admin several times and little has been done to correct the problems. This place needs a lot of oversight. Most importantly they need to start caring for the poor elderly patients here and stop treating them like a number. Word of advice....do not place your family at this horrible place if you have other choices.
DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE!

My mother was here for two days too long! We didn't do our homework! Poor staff attention...Staff running from one side of wing to the other to assist patients. This is in our opinion one of the worst places we had our mother in...unfortunately, the doctors are recommending these places for rehabilitation/exercise and none was given to my mother. This place needs to be audited, investigated for lack of a better word...Lots of screaming residents. WE HAD TO MAKE A FUSS TO GET THE ATTENTION WE FELT OUR MOTHER NEEDED. I would never bring my mother back! One staff took the time to help the best she could. But they are overworked. Cleanliness: Not very clean...Walls need a fresh paint coat; Toilets needs daily cleaning. There was a stench in the restroom of urine. Staff: Some seem uncaring, not friendly. Meals: Decent. You may not get what's on the calendar. Sliding doors leading to ourdoor patio do not lock.

Excellent place, the staff are wonderful, nursing attendant were willing to help mo matter how busy they are. What was amazing was when the nursing director answer the call bell in room 7 assisted our dad to bed from his wheelchair and made sure he has everything he needs before leaving the room. I've never seen anything like that from the other place.

Windsor Gardens is in downtown Fullerton, CA. It's a pretty decent area. The staff is great, very knowledgeable. It's a nice place. But just like any other skilled nursing or assisted living, response time to the patient needs improvement. Most of these places are understaffed, but it's doable. I would recommend them. The place is fine, it's clean, and the food is good.
