Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program(866) 485-9393The LTCOP advocates for seniors in six counties, including Washtenaw. A trained ombudsman works with seniors who have a complaint about their long-term care facility, such as an assisted living facility, and helps them understand their rights. They also ensure the residents receive the appropriate care.
Chelsea Community Ride(734) 475-9494Chelsea Community Ride provides free community shuttle transportation for any Chelsea resident. The service is made possible through a collaboration between the Western-Washtenaw Area Value Express (WAVE) and the United Methodist Retirement Communities. The shuttle service operates seven days a week. WAVE vehicles are equipped with wheelchair ramps and lifts to make them accessible to seniors or disabled individuals using canes, walkers or wheelchairs. Seniors also may ask for assistance carrying packages to and from the curb.
