There are not enough words to say how awesome the staff is here. Everyone treated my dad (and myself) like family. He loved it from the first day. Everyone from the administrator (Deborah) to housekeeping was so nice and always willing to help with anything he needed. Doty took great care of him and my dad loved cutting up with her. My dad passed away December 11, 2019 but we have donated a Crackel Barrel rocking chair to the facility in his honor for all their loving care. God bless all of you at The Gardens and thank you for all you did for my daddy.

I like that The Gardens of Texarkana is clean. There was no smell like you would smell some in a hospital or nursing home. I like the services that they offer, especially the meal prep, the cleaning, and getting the person back and forth to doctor's appointments. I really think the services they have were great. I only had interaction with one staff, Sonia. She was very pleasant and informative. I enjoyed the tour. When I walked in, it was very nice and the esthetics were good. I only looked at one room, which was the model room. There was nothing in there, but it was clean. I caught a glimpse of the dining hall and the reading room. There were people in the room. It seemed like it was very nice. The only smell I smelled was when they were preparing lunch, and it made me hungry. They said they do badminton, they had one guy that thinks he's the domino king, at Valentine's day they'd also bring in entertainment, and they have bible studies.

The Gardens is very dated and dark, but the people seemed nice. I like the lady I talked to; she was very nice. It seemed homey; it's just that it needed a lot of updating. The place where they do the activities was very small. I saw the dining room but they didn't have a menu to show me. They were going to be in charge of my mom's medicines, so it would have worked for me, had it been the right place.

The Gardens of Texarkana was very nice. It was a very clean and beautiful place with a very friendly atmosphere, from the administration to the workers there. Everyone was just very sweet. They were very helpful and supportive of the residents, from what I saw on how they interact with them. They have studio apartments that have several closets, a huge lovely bathroom, and then they have a kitchenette portion. There's no stove of course, but there is a sink, and a place to put extra shelving for canned goods, or towels, or stuff that they want to display. There's also a mini-refrigerator and adequate space for storing the dishes and things of that sort. When I went there, they were planning a Cinco de Mayo party, and they were having strawberry margaritas. It was really, really nice. I saw the activity room and their library was phenomenal. They have quiet areas where they can go and sit. Even the lounge part is set up just like a homey living room. Sonia, who gave me the tour, said that they have meetings with the residents about the foods that they may want, and then they take that into consideration. They look at the nutritional value in all of it and then they'll fix it. It's not only what the staff wants to cook or what their doctors say they should cook, it's what the people want at will.

I liked the tour at The Gardens of Texarkana; they were accommodating. My daughter was with me and asked some of the technical questions about who would take care of the patient. Mainly, it was for my wife who was disabled. They answered the questions and they were straightforward about the cost. The place was very clean and smelled good; that's one really good plus for me. We even met some of the residents and they liked it there. I was happy with it and my daughter was too. They showed us a single room, and where they had a couple, it looked fine to me. I asked if I could bring animals there, and they said we could bring small animals like a dog or a cat. I asked her about parrots and she said, "I don't think so," and that's all right.

The Gardens of Texarkana was quite good, but it seemed to be an older building. The staff was excellent. The rooms were all the same. There were no larger rooms. They were nice sized, but you couldn't get a bigger one if you wanted one. The facilities were quite nice. The interior courtyards and the garden inside were all relatively well laid out. The problem was the hallways. The layout was a little narrower and not as open as the other place. As far as space goes, it's not as open or airy. The common areas were nice. The apartments and those areas seemed a little bit narrower. If you were walking down the hallway, it was not quite as open. I think that's probably because it's an older building. The inside was not old, such as the carpeting, walls, and doors. The staff was very helpful, very forthright, and very insightful. The residents seemed active. There was a lot of interaction with the staff that were present. They seemed friendly, and they seemed to care. There seemed to be an ongoing relationship with the staff and the residents. The manager was very helpful, very knowledgeable, and gave me information about other options. The facilities and the common areas were nice, but the ceilings were low and the hallways were narrow.

The Gardens of Texarkana was a fine place. They were very explanatory and very nice; they showed us the room Mom is going to be in and everything. I didn’t have any problems with them. They will clean her room, do her laundry, help her with her bath, and feed her 3 times a day. The place is very clean and quiet. Her room is very nice, and everything looked really good.

The Gardens was a nice facility, but I don’t think it’s quite as affluent as the facility my mother-in-law is in now. There was a lot going on. The management and staff were wonderful and caring. The food was good, but my mother-in-law is from Wisconsin, so there were things she was not used to eating at first. Every week the manager sits down with the residents and they plan the menu for the whole week; they make sure that the residents will enjoy the food and also make sure that they are nutritiously balanced.

I looked at The Gardens, and I wasn’t happy with it because she would have to share a space with someone. The staff was fine, but nothing really stood out. I think it would be fine if you could afford a private room, and the rooms were pretty small. However, the dining area was good.
