My mother moved into Yuma Senior Living. What I like best is that she has a small apartment, not a room. She's got a living room, a restroom, and a full-sized bedroom large enough for a king-sized bed. They come by every day and pick up the trash. If she's not well, meals are served in her room, but the dining room is fabulous. I tried the food, and it was delicious. They have lots of activities. They have free laundry. You can do your own laundry for assisted living. You can use your furniture, or you can use their furniture. There are two flat-screen TVs in the 3-room apartment, a small refrigerator, and a microwave in every room. They come once a week to change the linens and clean the room. They supply fresh towels and sheets on the bed. My mother has been there for a little over a month, and she loves it.

Yuma Senior Living was an old hotel. It's got two stories that had one and two-bedroom apartments (the ground floor was an extra charge). They had one elevator to service the entire second floor, which was quite substantial, but I didn't particularly care for that. It seemed like for an emergency, you would be hard-pressed to get out of there if everybody was trying to use one elevator. The apartments were clean and they were furnished, which is a big deal. It's got beds, dressers, a TV, a kitchenette (with a microwave and small refrigerator), and a sofa or recliner in the living area. It's a very nice place. It was the most inexpensive one we researched. It also had a very nice cafeteria in the center of the complex with chef-prepared meals.

We have moved into Yuma Senior Living. It's got an outdoor courtyard situation, so you're not all indoors all the time. I've walked several blocks a day inside the courtyard without leaving the premises. Three meals a day are served in the dining room. The office is open five days a week Monday through Friday. There are activities in the morning and the afternoon of each day. It's economical. I would call the buildings majestic. There's a lot of greenery and water features on the grounds. The rooms are all two-room apartments with a bath, a step-through tub, a living room, and a bedroom. They are all fully furnished, including laundry the sheets, pillowcases, and towels once a week, and housekeeping. So, you just come in with a suitcase, bring your clothes and handle your wash. It's also the cheapest I could find.

Yuma Senior Living was a beautiful and very friendly facility. The only drawback was it's in complete lockdown, so my friend could not go off the premises, and he did not like that. He said that he would feel like he was imprisoned. It's very clean, and there's a nice area in the ground to go out to and sit during the day. They have a full laundry facility, and the rooms are nice. The person who gave us the tour was very nice and very knowledgeable. They answered all of our questions and were very friendly, too. We looked at a couple of studios, but they're not as large as the others, so we weren't interested in that.
