Mom just moved into Sherwood Village Assisted Living & Memory Care. Their maintenance was prompt. They hooked up her TV, decorated her room, and hung things on the walls. That was huge. Also, the housekeepers and everyone came to introduce themselves to us immediately. The welcoming experience was amazing. She has a very large studio. She has her own AC, refrigerator, sink, cupboards, and microwave (cable TV is included). Then they have a great dining room with a great dining room staff for breakfast, lunch, and dinners. I had lunch with her today. They gave me a complimentary turkey sandwich and soup for her first day, but they have a regular menu and alternative menu. So, if she doesn't like what they're serving for a hot meal, she can have something else. They have lots of entertainment and activities throughout the day. They do bingo and movies. They also have people that come in with pets or are piano players.

From what I saw, Sherwood Village was an amazing place. I want to get my grandfather in there as soon as possible. From what they told me, it used to be a hotel that's turned into an assisted living facility. I like the fact that they take such great care of the residents, and they have an elevator there. Those that cannot take the stairs can take the elevator. They have an excellent place for being able to eat. They also have a doctor there too. I saw the assisted living. They have memory care as well, but the place is mostly for assisted living. I described his memory problems to them, and they still have no problems with it at all. The staff member was excellent. She described everything to a T, the way it is, and she even said that her own mother was there too, and she herself started working there so she could help out people that have problems getting things done if they need to. She was excellent in her descriptions. Overall, she was just amazing with how she helped us in understanding everything. She described in detail how they help out with the living situations, and how they help out with getting through with things as well. If somebody has a special diet, they go by that. The facility was fantastic. They have a courtyard. There used to be a pool there, but that's not available. They changed it from having a pool to being a courtyard completely. It's the only place that I could find that was actually close enough proximity to me so I can go visit my grandfather whenever I need to.

I toured Sherwood Village Assisted Living & Memory Care. It was a pleasant tour. It was a pleasant and welcoming setting, but it's just not what I was looking for. They have nice rooms, accommodating rooms, but just not the amount of space that I was looking for. The staff member was great. She was very accommodating and was very interested. She was very interactive with the residents that we came across as we were taking the tour. She was introducing me to the staff as we were on the tour. She was very interested in what I was looking for and what I would need. I don't know what the food was like, but the dining area was very spacious; they had definitely more than accommodating seating. They had a very spacious activity room. I know they were going to be playing bingo that afternoon when I was there.
