I toured Catalina Village Assisted Living. The feel was a very homey atmosphere. It was a very welcoming setting and it just felt like a very natural transition. The staff member was definitely very accommodating. She was very informative about the establishment itself, was very interested in me, wanted to know what I was looking for, and genuinely cared about my needs. I didn't directly observe any of the activities, but I did see a calendar, and I saw that they do card games, beading activities, and they go on outings. So they're very involved. They have very spacious apartments to move into.

I did not like Catalina Village Assisted Living. I did not like the smell of it. Nobody was in front of the place where you could talk to somebody. I waited for 15 minutes before somebody came up. I didn't like the way they speak to their clients. The hallway smelled like pee, and it shouldn't smell like that. The problem was nobody walked me nowhere. The state should go there to look at the place and make them clean it. The apartment needed more space and more lights.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. The staff is rude and uncaring. The facilities are disgustingly filthy. You would think that are care home would be 100% handicap accessible, however many pathways are uneven, unpaved and difficult for even healthy persons to navigate. The staff are neglectful of tenants unwilling to help with even the most basic of needs including regular hygiene.

There has been many changes at Catalina Village. They have their remodeling underway (new kitchen/dining room started) The old activity room has been torn down and will be located in the current dining room. Staff are kind and work very hard to meet all of their residents needs. Activities have increased but due to each resident has a very limited funds going out to the zoo, old Tucson etc. are too expensive for them and the majority of the residents smoke so I believe Overall, it is a wonderful community for those they serve.

Staff is friendly enough but the care in this facility is not enough for anyone with dementia. My mom has been in the facility only about 5 months, and is somewhere between moderate and severe dementia. Upon admittance I was assured that they were willing and able to assist her with the things she needed, but they have fallen short on most occasions. I'm not referring to an occasional slip of services, but I have to remind them constantly that they need to remember to check that she needs toliet paper, and pick up her laundry as she can't remember or understand to do those things herself. If she's made a mess, it stays until her regular cleaning day, and I mean the kind of mess you shouldn't leave, like bathroom messes. The facility itself is old and needs refurbishing, which I was told was to start in July 2012 but never did.

This a facility which sits on 5 acres with 4 one and two story buildings. There is105 apartments. They atr studio and one bedroom with partial kitchens. Iy is an open campus so residents have plenty of walking room. All are handicapped equipped and have emerhemcy buttons and pull cords. All residents have pendants which go into a call system and the caregivers get alerted on their radios. The grounds and buildings are well maintained. They have a large patio, various walking paths, a gazebo, and numerous sitting areas. It is partial desert landscapped with greenery and orange trees. They do housekeeping and linens. They have a dining room which offers three meals a day and snacks. The menu is a ser menu with 2 entree choices at lunch so there is little variety. The food is ok. They have two nurse practitioners who come in. They have an RN or LPN seven days a week from 7am to 1030pm and on call. All caregivers are certified. They do assisted living only. They do not transport. They are a low income home. They have an activity directer. They have in house games and exercise. They do take them to shopping once a month and sometimes go out to library or casino. Seems they are limited for activities in my opinion. This is a clean facility which is afforable for those with limited income. The staff and atmosphere is not very homey.
