I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Steer clear - horrible management staff & terrible "skilled" care, our family understands this is a for profit business, but when you are in the assisted living line of work, all staff should have a working knowledge of senior health care at this facility. A management employee asked if my alzheimers loved one should be put in a cab to be dropped off at the hospital after she fell down and broke a bone. Not kidding...have evidence. Do your research and dig deep/interview ALL staff when considering a place for yourself or loved one.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Can't tell you how caring everyone was with my very ill Mother-In-Law at this facility during our very difficult journey. From every nurse, caregiver, cleaning staff and even the kitchen, they all did everything they could to check on her regularly and make her comfortable. The facility was convenient and clean. They were exactly what we needed for our loved one, when we needed it. There are several levels of care there and you really get a feeling that they are a close community/family. Whether it is short term or long term, when you have a loved one who needs this type of specialized care it is never a good thing; but when you do, highly recommend Plaza Del Rio to take care of them.

I visited this facility

I really liked it. Everything was as clean as could be. They had different size rooms -- all were very nice and had balconies. They serve 3 meals a day and you are allowed a refrigerator or a microwave in your room. The dining area was very nice and spacious. There was seating for four per table. The food was very good and in fact, the chef came out and we talked for a while. They have a bus if you want to go somewhere.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My sister-in-law was impressed by the people that showed her Plaza Del Rio. The staff answered all the questions and everyone was really nice. The place was clean and it was conveniently close to where we live. Everything was very good. That's why my mom went back there second time. She has excellent care there. However, they could improve on their communication between the staff, the doctors, and to us. But I know they tried really hard to get her the food that she could eat. The nurses and the physical therapists were wonderful. They were all really nice.

Other

I was very impressed with Plaza Del Rio. I did volunteer work at this assisted living facility for a couple of months. When I was there learning and working along side of the employees, I learned a lot. All the workers there seemed like they were personally involved with each of the residents currently residing there. The residents always came first. It was very important to the employees that if family of the residents have not visited, that they sat and talked to the people to make sure they were comfortable and doing ok. The residents always come first to the employees of Plaza Del Rio.

I volunteered at Plaza Del Rio for several months. I noticed for the time I was there that all the employees really cared about the patients. There was always a nurse "double checking" on a resident to make sure they were ok and that they didn't need anything. One day, a resident was crying and upset, a nurse went over to him and comforted him for as long as he needed. This showed to me that they really care about their patients. I would recommend this facility to others. The residents seemed as happy as could be and I loved seeing that.
