What I like about Desert Winds Retirement is its proximity to where I am located, the staff, and the financial peace. It has green space, which I appreciate. My mother was from the Midwest and has just moved into Desert Winds. The serving staff is very responsive to any adjustments on the menu that might be needed by the resident. They provide two meals a day, which I appreciate, and they're flexible as to the time that the resident needs. The dining room is open for set hours and then the resident can visit at any time during the day. There's a salon that's open two days a week. They have an activities director, which we're not that familiar with yet. They provide transportation to groceries, pharmacies, and clinics, which probably my mother won't utilize because I'm right here, but I know that the residents there appreciate that. They also have some spiritual components available, which we appreciate as well.

We're at Desert Winds Retirement. It's excellent. Everything is really good here. The apartments are beautiful. The food is good. Everything is good. They have transportation. I would highly recommend this place. The staff and services are all good. They just take care of everything. You never have a problem or if you have a problem, they fix it. They have all kinds of activities and places to go.

I like Desert Winds Retirement. It is one of the nicest facilities I have seen yet. They had pleasant surroundings. The staff was very caring and helpful. They went out of their way to help a person answer questions. I ate there and the food was delicious. The rooms were very spacious. The grounds were extremely well kept. The swimming pool was beautiful. There isn't anything bad I can say about that entire facility. They also had a hot tub. The people were excellent. I took a tour with the manager of the facility, and also one of the people, and everybody is just topnotch. Everybody that I passed said, "You would love this place." And two women have been there for 17 or 18 years.

I was a resident at Desert Winds Retirement for two months. My stay there was OK until they raided my room one night when I was asleep and took some over-the-counter medications I had there and that made me mad. My apartment had a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. I had a microwave and a refrigerator. There was breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided and I was eating that in the dining room. The food was OK. They provided control over my medications and they gave me my medications every day. Some activities were going on but I did not do any of them. They had chair exercises, movies, travel, and board games.

I'm living in Desert Winds Retirement Community in Peoria. I'm in their assisted living, and it's been very, very good. I feel happy that I moved here. I cannot describe the menu, but I have never left the dining room hungry. I even had to ask for half portions because they're giving me too much. If you don't like what's on the main menu, you can get anything you want, like chicken, burgers, you name it. They have a beauty salon and an exercise room. They have activities, but not many of them fit me because I'm a 92-year-old male and I'm outnumbered here by women. I wish there were more men in the activities but there were not so I don't go. The facility is great. I don't know how old it is, but it doesn't look too old.

My mother-in-law is now in Desert Winds Retirement Community, and it's been a great experience. They have casitas available. They have bingo and daily scheduled trips. They have a hairstylist, and they have an array of amenities available to their residents. Their food is very good. We had shepherd's pie for dinner.

My mother was at Desert Winds Retirement three years ago. It was close to where I lived, and it was nice. She was there for about six to seven years, and she was happy there. I went there again in March or April of this year. She was in the independent living part of it. It's just as nice as where I'm at, but there were too memories there. I'd be thinking about my mother every day, so I didn't want to do that. I know she went to some of the games and such, and she liked playing bingo. They had a lot of activities. She never had any complaints about anything. I was happy with it because she was happy. She had a one-bedroom apartment. The kitchen was too big for her because she didn't like to cook. She got what she paid for. She never complained about what she paid there. It's close to where I lived in Sun City, which was about a mile away; it was convenient. It's not too far from the hospital, grocery stores, doctors' offices, and Walgreens. In fact, she used to walk over to Walgreens to pick up her prescriptions. It's a good location.

We moved into Desert Winds Retirement. It is very nice, and we like it very much. I like the people who run it, and I like the food. Everything is very nice, and they take care of everything. I like the apartment. It is a two-bedroom with two baths, a living room, an eating area, and a nice kitchen. It is very comfortable. There are tons of games and different things like movies and a beauty shop. We got the first COVID shot, and we're getting the next shot this Saturday. The list of amenities just goes on and on. They have games, movies, and entertainment; just about anything you'd want. The food is excellent. Their facility has been here quite a while, and it's been updated somewhat. It is in the process of getting new carpeting. They keep it up very nicely. I have not participated much in the activities yet because we were getting settled, but from what I see they have a lot of different people who are participating and taking advantage of them.

They call you over 12 hours away as a family member and tell you that EMS was at your mothers door this morning when they never were at all. They do not deliver on care that you actually paid for and leave your mother postop for a week without even showering. They refuse to follow through with the care that you had arranged and paid for already and only call you back to tell you that you were imagining the phone call that you received 10 minutes earlier and nobody ever told you that EMS was at your mothers door and it is all in your head but “you can speak to management” at some point later because they are not in. This is the most ridiculous place I’ve ever seen. As a healthcare worker, I would never recommend it again to anyone. Absolutely inappropriate and inhumane to tell an elderly postop resident to “do it herself” with respect to just putting water in the humidifier. But at same time you will receive multiple calls felling you to pay for 24/7 care for your loved one who is otherwise independent but needs minimal assistance- all about money

I moved into Desert Winds Retirement. It's very nice, it's clean, and it has good care. I've been here only a month. They take care of their people, the staff is very good, food is provided, but it's not seasoned, and I'm used to flavorful food.

The staff at the Peoria location are exceptional in every way. My first experience was the facility because it immediately smelled clean and the aroma from the kitchen was down right appetizing. Prior to my mom’s move in date, I was informed of her assigned room and I was authorized to make my mom’s new room feel as comfortable as possible by making it feel like home. Erin was and still is very attentive, caring and has patience. She assisted with my mom’s transition from the facility where they no longer wanted her to be there and for selecting my mom’s beautiful room. My mom’s first day was amazing and my anticipation was so relieved when Kathy, the nurse, and the care givers welcomed my mom with open arms. Every staff member are amazing: Elizabeth, Meds Assistant, is amazing because she instantly read my mom’s mannerism, accepted her illnesses and has managed to work with her in every aspect. They also have build a bond which has eased my daily worries. Thank you very much Elizabeth. Kelly, Best Caregiver Ever! On my mom’s first admission date and to current, she immediately made my mom feel at home and has spoiled my mom to no end. My mom always comments how Kelly watches out for her and the hugs and kisses that are exchanged are so genuine. Kathy, Nurse, is on top of it all. Her attendance and attention is #1. She was the one who met, interviewed and approved my mom acceptance to Desert Winds Assisted Living. Thank you so much for accepting my Mom. All the Caregivers are great! Special thanks to Stephanie who cuts up my mom’s mangos; Angelica & Rosalba for being there for my Mom and Savannah for caring and loving my Mom so much. Adam, med tech - Love this teddy bear - Love the fact that he is another who has accepted my Mom's ways. Barbara, new director of nursing. My 1st encounter was a week after my mom moved in and will always be very memorable. Jeremy, Waiter/Server is such a gift to the residence. His smiles and attendance is exceptional. Thank you for putting up with my Mom’s food pickiness and serving her, her jalapeño and her 4 sugars for her coffee. Front Desk Receptionists are integral part of the Assisted Living and without their great customer service the business would not flow as perfect as it does. Special thanks to: Nancy, Pam, Becky, Julie, etc. Thank you Desert Winds Assisted Living in Peoria

I'm considering Desert Winds. The people who showed me around the place were very nice. The apartments were nice, except that the location is not that close to me. They have things going on for the residents. It sounds like they have a nice kitchen and activities and things. They offered me a meal, but I didn't have the time. They also have amenities, and the layout of the place looks nice to me.

We visited Desert Winds. The dining room was fair; cleanliness was better than fair. However, we were not crazy about the place. We were very unimpressed with the accommodations and the rooms. They didn't have what we were looking for as far as the price. Nevertheless, the staff was very friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. They went overboard to help us, and in that respect, we were very thankful.

Desert Winds is not a very big community. The people seem very nice and friendly. The meal is very good and tasty, and we enjoyed it. I think we'd be very happy there. It's very nice, and it's not overly humongous. They have a nice exercise room, a gym, and a pool. The meals will be prepared for us, and they have driving to shopping and church services which we will obviously need assistance with.

My mom seems to like Desert Winds really well. They have music there for entertaining, so she goes down and watches that. The staff has been really nice. They come into her room and help her. If something happens, they will call you and tell you what happened like if she fell or something. They seem to be doing everything right.

I am in independent living at Desert Winds. The facility is close to my son and granddaughter. The staff is very efficient and very friendly. It's a two-story facility, and there is parking if you have a car. A bus service goes in a 12-mile radius. Everybody's friendly and nice. They fixed my room up the way I wanted it, and it's very pleasing to me.

Desert Winds was clean, and the people I talked to were very nice. They showed me the room. It was a nice room with a bedroom and a little kitchenette. It has a little refrigerator, a microwave, a sofa, and a TV. I think they played something like bingo, and they go out to eat once in a while. For me, it was expensive. It was almost twice as much as a group home; that is why I didn't take that. But that is the cheapest one around here as an assisted living home.

I visited Desert Wind, and I only met the woman who showed us around. She was helpful. The rooms were very nice. My mother really liked it. It was spacious, and it was only one room, but the bedroom was in a separate area, and my mother really liked that. I looked in the dining room, and it was nice. What impressed me most was that the apartment was light, spacious, and it had room for a stackable washer and dryer so my mother could be independent and not go down somewhere and wash her clothes. The kitchen was complete so she could cook like she wanted to and not have to go downstairs or go wherever and eat. It was also close to family. As far as I know, it was secure enough.

Mother is now at Desert Winds Retirement now. A neighbor found it for us and made a recommendation to my wife and me. The staff is outstanding. My mother has a beautiful apartment. They have all kinds of activities like exercise, bingo and outings. They also bring in musicians for them. My mother says that the food is very, very good. The best thing about this community is that it is close to where I live. The place is centrally located. There is a Walmart, Sam's, and Costco, and there is a mall probably a mile away.

The facilities were immaculate. They were well designed, decorated with the latest beautiful decor -- obviously done by very qualified interior designers. The amenities that impressed me the most were the dining portion of the facilities and the care they took in keeping the residents active and involved with everything and everyone in the facility. The staff seemed qualified and caring. The place had a very good "feel" when you first went in. That carried throughout the facility with both staff and architecture and furnishings. I was impressed by the variety of housing that was available -- from independent areas with total freedom, such as places to park your own vehicle at your "apartment," to more assisted buildings that provided different degrees of "care" needed, to a total care area for patients with Alzheimer's and debilitating disorders that provide one-on-one care 24/7. I would say that if I ever needed a facility for myself, this one would be highly desirable. On the negative side, the location of the facilities was not ideal. It would not be close enough to amenities I would use when living at an independent living facility. It is a fair drive to the "heartbeat" of Phoenix, where the culture (theaters, museums, restaurants, sports) exist. However, this would not be an issue for the assisted living portion. The cost was also a shock. Not everyone would be able to afford this facility, so it would incorporate a less diverse type of residents.

This is a medium sized assisted living with 76 Units. It is a two story building. The grounds and building is well maintained. The various landscaping includes treesand greenery. They have a nice courtyard with patio, sitting areas, and walking paths. The apartments are studio and one bedrooms with partial kitchens. Cable and utilities are included. All units are handicapped equipped and have an emergency call system. They have a nice dining room with restaurant style cooking. The food is good. They provide three meals and snacks. They have a fitness room, library, and activity area. The decor is nice. They do assisted and memory care residents. There are doctors who come. They have a staff nurse. They do transport if necessary to appointments. All caregivers are certified. The staff seems fairly competent and friendly. They have an activities director and a physical therapists and they do daily exercises. They do in house activities as movies, games, arts and crafts, parties, and one on one. They go out for activities as shopping, restaurants, and other events, This is a nice clean facility.
