My mother and I were on a major rampage to visit and decide upon an assisted living facility for her. She's 70 years young, still active, a retired nurse who still is interested in earning her own way. Over the course of many months we visited just about every assisted living facility in Mesa, Arizona and beyond. We then moved on to assisted living homes, just to see for ourselves if there would be a difference in quality. One of the first places we visited was Extended Family. Literally nestled in the heartland of Mesa, Arizona, a set of beautiful homes! You'd think as a passing stranger that these were residential houses. Nothing out of the ordinary. Gorgeous, well kept lawns, patio's, flowers. We happened to visit the location at 2256 E. Hermosa, as there is an extended/dementia care home down the road. A gorgeous home with physicians on staff! I know I give that sentence an exclamation point but am I not right? At what facility do you have a personal physician? Not many. Although, registered nurses rank higher than high in my book. My mom is a retired registered nurse and has run the gamut with her services and abilities, including respite, burn units, psychiatric, prenatal, E.R., and even used to be one of those people who rode on helicopters to outlining villages in Alaska to provide care. An active woman with a lot of demands. Extended Family was superior in providing an outlet for her. Everything seemed so accessible from the room to the bathing to the courtyard to the patio to the staff. I don't think I've ever given a facility a five star rating. To this one, my first, I did.
