My husband was in Encompass Health Valley of The Sun Rehabilitation Hospital before. I would highly recommend that place. It was wonderful. I would give it a five-star rating. The facility was very clean. They kept the landscaping looking really good. The food was good. The staff and everybody that we were in contact with was very professional and very good. With the food, they had a selection so you had a choice. It was always good. It wasn't mom's home cooking, but the meals were well-balanced. The facility was well laid out, so it was easy to find your way around.

Just spent two wks at Healthsouth. First time at a rehab facility and so a little nervous as to what it would be like. I didn't pick Healthsouth myself, it was the only Acute rehab facility available when I had to leave the Hosp. I would highly recommend it. All staff were great..nurses, aides, therapy folk, everyone. Yes, if you were able they did like you to get to the cafeteria on your own, but if you got partway and burned out, there was always someone to give you a friendly push. Food was fine, if you didn't want the main entree there were other choices. The therapy sessions were individually programmed for your specific needs and the therapists who worked with me were knowledgeable, helpful and encouraging. 5 star from me in all respects.

HealthSouth doesn’t have a menu, but it is convenient to me as it is close to my home. It was clean, but it was an older facility. There is no social stuff. I would not recommend them.

I was in Healthsouth for rehab. You have to go down to get to the food and the food was not good. The dining facility is really a cafeteria. They also did not allow anyone to bring anything for me to exercise with, which was a hindrance. When I got out of there, I was in worse shape than before.

This facility does not have enough staff to help each patient. Each CNA have anywhere from 10 to 15 patients. There is no way they can give quality care to each patient. they have maybe one nurse LPN on each unit. that never see the patient, they are always doing paper work. The CNA do all the diabetic blood work. which is fine but they have had no training on these. The facility used to be clean neat and nice. It is now dirty, smells like urine and poo. and in the need for a lot of repairs and needs for the patient.

My husband received excellent care overall, however, patients with mental health issues were allowed to roam the facility at night. My husband was constantly awoken by "intruders" at all odd hours of the night which escalated his already severe anxiety issues. During an emergency episode, the facility was able to get immediate transportation/care at a hospital for my husband and notified me immediately so that I was able to meet him forth with at the hospital. I was allowed to attend dinners, lunches, rehab classes, and other required therapies with my husband on a regular basis. I received constant updates from doctors, nurses and other practitioners regarding his care and ongoing progress and potential future struggles as it pertained to his ability to recover, which made my personal stress reduce and enable me to completed tasks necessary to prepare and sustain his recovery. U also had the ability to contact the facility if needed for home care and ongoing assistance with mobility and medicinal concerns.

Ironically enough my mother worked for this facility for nearly 15 years then became a patient several years later. My mother was diagnosed with COPD, CHF, Diabetes, kidney failure, hypertension and legally blind which resulted in her retiring from her job earlier than she had anticipated. After several years of bad health, including dialysis, Mom had to have open heart surgery in Dec of 2010, after the surgery she went to HealthSouth Valley of the Sun Rehab to be rehabilitated and have help with her daily living skills. The first day Mom was there she was allowed to fall out of a chair while "visiting" the nurses station, approximately 6 nurses and aides were around her and she was not restrained in the chair in any way. No one from my family was called, but Valley of the Sun took her for a cat scan, again without telling us, but we did get charged for it. When it was decided to move Mom to another facility Valley of the Sun conveinently could not release her for 2 days causing my Mom to pay several hundred dollars in fees medicare deemed unnecessary. I would not reccomend this facility to anyone.
