My husband moved to The Village at Ocotillo. There were several things why we chose this place. It was very clean. The staff was very friendly and inviting. Every room is nice. There were a variety of things available. There was an in-house PT, there was a nurse available, and all the things we were looking for were there. I've eaten with my husband many times and the food is on par with a very nice hotel. They have exercise during the week in the mornings. They have movie theaters and a happy hour with someone either singing or playing an instrument at 3:00 on two days a week. They have many activities. They have a van that will take you places and anywhere you want to go.

We're at The Village at Ocotillo. This is a great community. We're very happy with everything we've seen. The maintenance crew up to the management are extremely helpful, caring, and friendly. We love the access to having doctors and associated services come right to our apartment. We've used the physical therapy and occupational therapy. We've had x-rays done in our room and it's very convenient. There's also a van to take us to doctor's appointments. They have some special things they do two days a week. They have many activities and I at least partake in those. My husband has been ill. He hasn't been quite as active as I have been. It's a beautiful community. The dining service is excellent. It's like eating in a fancy restaurant and the food is delicious every meal. I can't say a bad thing about it, from the maintenance, to the housekeeping, to the management, and all the caring caregivers. We have caregivers 24/7, and they are so helpful and willing to help with anything and they're available with the tap of our wrist. Everything is kept up. If you have any problem in your apartment, maintenance is right there to help you and take care of you. I highly recommend them.

I'm at The Village at Ocotillo. It's very good. The food is good. The caregivers are very good. There's a lot of things to do. They have a lot of events going on. They do a lot of them just every day. They have chair volleyball. There's a really good exercise program and there's a bible study. They're doing a new paint job and they're putting new carpeting in, but they haven't started that yet. The place is very nice.

I'm at The Village at Ocotillo. It's been pretty good. It was a little rough at first. It provides meals and a place to stay and some services that I was taking care of myself before. They provide meals and a little housekeeping. There's plenty of things to do and they have lots of activities planned. There's more than enough for me to do. I do an exercise class six days a week, and I try to make them all. The staff is pretty good. The food is pretty decent. There were some days when there's food I don't want to eat, and there are lots of choices.

I have been a resident now almost 3 years. I came here on my own, and have made it my home. I have been treated with dignity and care. It is not the largest in the area, but you feel the individual care that is offered. The staff goes out of their way to make you comfortable, seeing to your needs. There are so many different verities of activities, you can find what interest you the most. We are encouraged to leave our apartments to be a part of the community, but never pushed to do so. There is a good mix of gender, age groups, abilities that it is easy to find a place where you are comfortable.

My mother-in-law will be staying at The Village at Ocotillo for respite care. The residents seemed happy and well cared for. They seem to take care of the ones that need more assistance. The facility is staffed right. The ones that didn't need extra care seemed fine. It just seemed like a happy, open facility. Upkeep and cleanliness were very good. There didn't seem to be any issues, any uncleanliness and smells. It was just really nice. The food looked excellent. Their dining area was nice, and the menu seemed good. They had different activities up that the residents were doing at the time. It's something that she could take part in that she would be happy with. Once we found that facility, we decided to put her there, and they helped us with whatever we needed.

We toured The Village at Ocotillo. First of all, Casey, the sales director, is awesome. She sent us home with free food from the dining room today. We had free breakfast. The community just suited my mom to a tee. I don't know about anyone else's mom, but my mom has lived in the Sun Lakes for maybe at least like 20 years, and this is just outside her community, and it just had that vibe. It just felt like that would be my mom's home, not just an assisted living place that she just had to have to adjust to. Even though it's not a brand-new community, I love the decor, and I love the hospitality of it. The people were friendly; the staff was friendly. The people seemed like they really loved living there. I was impressed with the size of the one-bedroom. It has a full kitchen, which is not the standard. Usually it's a kitchenette. It has decorated walls, they're not all white walls, it's decorated walls, and decorated colors and arches. It's just really pretty architecture. The courtyard in the middle is just a beautiful place. You can dine outside there, you can bring your family, and they've got a walking trail right in the courtyard area, so they're safe, but they have a good distance walking trail for exercise there, and the classes they looked like a lot of fun. I saw their activities. They have the cardio drumming, which I think would be good for my mom. They have the seated chair yoga in the fitness room. I was impressed that the girl that does the fitness, when I first did a preview tour with my husband, she was also doing a class in the movie theater about cooking vegan. They have a lifestyle, fitness, and nutrition kind of education that's called Zest. I don't know if that's something that other places have. With everything else that we saw, they were just our number one choice.

My father moved into The Village at Ocotillo. The care is excellent. His apartment is the best of any that I have ever seen. It has a full-size kitchen, and a washer and dryer in the apartment. He loves the food. He said they're excellent.

My loved ones have lived at the Villages for over 5 years. The quality of care has drastically reduced during this time and I now regret having moved them in. Our hope was that the Villages would be their final home. As others have noted they have a single nurse who is difficult to speak with, and while she may be good, she is not able to manage and monitor the aids. When I expressed concern with the time it takes for the aids to respond to the call button, they shared that it is expected that the aid would reply in 15 minutes. In multiple occurrences the staff have been notified there is a problem when the fire department and EMTs arrive at the front door. This has occurred when my mother fell and no one would answer the call button or a phone call to the front desk, so they were left with the only option of calling 911. There are staff (aids) who we believe are very good and very caring, but without leadership they do not receive the time or direction to be able to provide good care. Our parents enjoy the food, and believe that the food selection and quality is good. The restaurant manager is another point of conflict. Having family dinners at the restaurant is easiest for logistics, but most of our families do not wish to go to restaurant because they simply make it very hard. This occurred this weekend for Mothers day. We had a large group (9) and called and made reservations. We arrived at the restaurant after 6pm and there were many tables. We were told that we needed to separate into 3 different tables. We offered to help push table together or just to do it for them and we were told that "It was against the rules." Family members that flew from states away, did not get to sit at the table with Mother. Very sad!

The Village was a little more expensive, and they did not have a studio apartment. They had a band playing with wine and cheese out. The food was excellent. I met several of the staff who were wonderful.

I visited The Village at Ocotillo. They have activities that you can participate in if you wish, like Bridge groups and various in-house activities, entertainment that comes in, tours, and happy hour where you can get to know everyone. I was looking at their 2-bedroom units which have nice high ceilings, and the views from the windows are of the courtyard or the nice areas outside. It was pretty impressive. I believe they also have laundry services, which is important. It was only the price that slowed me down.

If you need this as a reitirement home, go for it, in my opinion as an assisted living facility, it rates very low. There is one nurse over all the assisted living clients, she is hard to get a hold of, many times her mail box is full so you can not even leave a message. She is obviously very overworked, and is not gentle with the patients or family members. The aprtments are not set up for wheelchairs/walkers, my Mother had a very hard time navigating hers through the door ways into the bedrooms and bathrooms. They do not have call button for the patients to wear around their neck. It is a box that they push a button for aisisstance. My Mother fell several times and did not have the box in her hand so would lay on the floor until someone came and checked on her. By the time I moved Her to a private assisted living home, she was covered in cuts and bruised from falls. If you loved one needs a high level of assisted living this may not be the right place. .

If you are still pretty independent , then this place will be good for you . Labs , physical therapist, etc are available to you in the facility if needed ( outside companies) . If you need more attention or need a lot of help , then this probably won't be the best fit for you . The food is great however and music activities are nice . Bus trips are scheduled to different places which is nice .

The Village at Ocotillo is very nice, and the meals were gourmet. I liked it less because it didn't seem to have as much room because it seems to be crowded. But it would have been desirable, and it would have been expensive. They had a beauty parlor and a physical therapist who would help you into the pool. The place is smaller, but it would have been fine.

The Village was independent living and assisted living, but they were intermingled. The rooms seemed smaller, not full kitchens, not even dishwashers. It was more expensive, and it was only 2 meals a day. They change your bed; they do light housekeeping. We had been invited to this function, and it was really crowded, with a lot of people in wheelchairs or with canes and walkers. Their outlook is that if you have to go to assisted living, you don't have to move out of your apartment, but I would just prefer to be around able-bodied people. We saw the restaurant and saw the menu. Everyone eats in that restaurant. There were a lot of nurse's aides that are willing to help the people. I think the people were very nice. It has everything: a theater, a crafts room, and a beauty shop, bingo, exercise. I just wasn't impressed. It just seemed a little more like a nursing home than I wanted.

We choose The Village of Ocotillo for my mom because it meets her needs the best. It is very clean and well-maintained. I liked the fact that it had larger one-bedroom units with full kitchens. The worker attitude of the staff is very good.

The place that we are planning to move into is The Village at Ocotillo. I like primarily its location in relationship to where our son lives. I like the way the facility is laid out. I also like their programs and their food, the way the meals are handled there. For accommodations, what we are looking to have is a two-bedroom-two-bath with a full kitchen and a nice patio. We are looking for a unit where everything is under one roof because my husband will be using a motorized chair. Also in The Village, they have the "Aging in Place" concept where you could stay in your apartment and get different degrees of assistance as you need it, so that you don't have to move to another location. The staff was outstanding when we visited. We were very pleased with what they have available. For activities, they did have classes that I'm interested in. They also had activities that sound interesting.

The staff and the facilities at the Village at Ocotillo thoroughly impress me. The staff is caring and especially helpful and always have everything covered. The facility is well-staffed with attentive, top-tier individuals. The facilities are luxurious and filled with amenities to help pass the time. I was especially impressed by the gym room and the media room. Not to mention the in-house restaurant, which serves affordable, high-quality food to both residents and their guests (for a small fee). Even as a guest, every time I visit, I am treated like royalty. The Village at Ocotillo also has a range of activities and goings-on every week. From movie screenings to parties, there is always something to do. The other residents have welcomed my relative with open arms. The community combined with the continuous activities, has created a rather warm, caring, and loving environment that only continues to help my relative feel comfortable and at-home. Overall, I am exceptionally satisfied with the high level of care that my relative is receiving at the Village at Ocotillo.
