allmost workers are very nice. The facility is very clean. My husband was here for 1 month and we felt very safe. If we had some problems suzette helped us right away. Very Nice. We hope we are well and don't have to come again but if we need care we will come back to Desert Cove Nursing Center. The therapy team is very good and polite. The kitchen staff served us both and let me play the piano. Thank you all staff!!

I was released from the hospital to this nursing home. They were not ready to except me, the bed wasn't made and they had no idea I was coming, they said. My car there was marginal at best. The car light could be on for 45 minutes before anyone would come and see me. I had two great nurses while I was there but that was it. Most of the staff could care less about patients . If you love your family member, don't let them be sent here.

This center was excellent for my wife who was there for rehab. The staff was friendly, caring and concerned for their patients. There was always an RN or CNA checking on her regularly. The facility was clean and well cared for. The food was good and a varied diet not like the typical hospital food. Can't say enough for the way my wife was cared for.

My mother was in Desert Cove Nursing Center for rehab. They were fantastic. Great staff, central location, great communication, excellent medical care and physical therapy. She was there for one week. She was in a private room with a beautiful view, private bathroom, and nice furnishings. There was a friendly and caring staff, and they had excellent Covid precautions. All visitors must wear face mask and face shield upon entrance and temperature is taken. I'm sure they have activities, but strict quarantine is observed during COVID times. There's not a lot of the activities as they usually are, and I think patients have to stay in their rooms unless they're off to therapy. There are no parties going on in nursing homes right now. I'm glad that they are taking these precautions. My mother didn't like the meals; but she's very particular, so I'm not gonna hold them against it. I saw the food, and it looked nutritious and adequate. There were two stations: a skilled side and a long-term care side. There's a central physical therapy department, administrative rooms, a dining room, and big wide hallways. It's clean and odor free. They've got friendly staff and quality care. During this Covid time, there aren't any congregate activities going on with patients. There were quite a few restrictions, including visitors and times. It was covered by Medicare. They were Medicare certified.

I naively placed my Mother at Desert Cove in Chandler. Recently she was transferred to another facility after 2 CNA’s dropped her while she was mid-air using a Hoyer lift. She fell backwards landing on her head and right shoulder. To add insult to injury they did not take the initiative to ensure that an appointment was made with a Specialist for her injuries as per Emergency Room Doctors instructions. Due to the negligence of them not properly securing her into the Hoyer, she sustained injuries, including a fractured clavicle. You would hope that they would ensure her health and well being after such a traumatic incident, quite the opposite. Interviewing her and subtly blaming her for their negligence less than 24 hours later. Our request for an immediate transfer was once again delayed due to their inability to property administer a Covid test in a timely manner. Furthermore, in the 10 months she was in their care her health drastically declined. She was subjected to Nurses that negatively spoke openly within her ear shot of not only her own care but other Patients. She contracted COVID-19 weeks after they shut down their facility to visitors and made the news for their large number of cases and deaths. Excuse after excuse was made in regards to any questions or concerns I had during this time. Please do not put your loved ones under the care of Desert Cove. When all is said and done they do NOT care about their Patients, nor do they care of the families that are absolutely devastated to know of their mistreatment of a beloved family member. Do your research. Ask questions. Be prepared to be your family members strongest advocate if you decide to place them here. Please do not assume they have their best interest at heart, at the end of the day it will end in one lone phone call done over speaker phone and legal talk to cover their negligence and dismal attempt to take care of our medically fragile loved one.

Some kind staff, but horrible quality of care, multiple privacy violations, understaffed, extensive wait time when assistance is needed, depressing. Keep searching for better care. The rooms are private, which is a plus, but staff interaction with patients is talking around, and not to them.

My wife spent six weeks recovering from a fracture just above her left knee which required extensive re-hab. She was treated as family. Every member of the staff that we came in contact with was kind, caring, skillful and dedicated. The level of motivation of everyone was amazing. The facility is spotlessly clean, in a nice location and has everything needed for the treatment hey provide.

Staff did not coordinate. No follow-up unless I asked for it several times. Patient was left in bed for most of the day and developed pneumonia and a UTI shortly after leaving facility. He ended up back in hospital 3 days after discharge from Desert Cove. Case manager said "system is broken" in reference to allowable PT etc. but the care there was so poor that the only thing broken is Desert Cove. I would NEVER put a loved one in there again. I am truly shocked at how poor the care was. My brother needed people who had compassion and expertise. I saw none.

The rooms are o.k.but the interactions are very terrible. The only game I no that some of the patients like is bingo! I'm not sure about amenities. This is not a very good place for anyone, the worker's are leaving that's how bad it is, stay away please! They only make things look great when they get visitor's but after that it goes down.

I personally was a patient at Desert Cove in November of 2016. I came into this facility for an abdominal incision that needed daily cleansing and changing. Prior to coming to this facility, I was in the hospital for two months. I was quite weak, and not feeling my normal self at this time. Not even staying at this facility for a week..... my incision developed pockets of infection, and I was taken back to Banner University Hospital by ambulance to the ER. My surgeon was furious. Not only are they negligent in their wound care, Desert Cove is grossly under staffed, the medical equipment looked old, and the food was marginal. A warning... Do Not Choose Desert Cove!

Desert Cove should be shut down, period. I became a patient of Desert Cove in November 2016. At the time, I had an abdominal wound that required daily care and dressing. After all, the reason I came to this place was that I didn't have adequate care at home. Not even a week into staying here, my abdominal wound had pockets of infection growing in it (I was weak after being in the hospital for two months.. I could not look after this wound myself). I ended up going back to Banner University by ambulance, and my surgeon was furious. I would never, ever recommend anyone becoming a patient here. Also, this facility is understaffed.

Staff ignores patients, does not care about doing their job right, and causes harm to the patients. It is not a safe or healthy place for your loved one to go for anything. The administration does not care about any of this, only the money. Maybe they need to think about why so many of their rooms are empty and how they would feel if their family member was treated the way they allowed ours to be.

If you value the care your loved ones, DO NOT PUT THEM IN DESERT COVE! The staff gathers around the nursing station as if it's a country club. If you request some assistance for your loved one they say "I'll be right back" and they never return. Nursing staff throw items on the floor and you have to request housekeeping to wipe down the floors and clean up after the staff. Plain filthy and irresponsible. The food is below grade and served in Styrofoam containers. PATIENT BEWARE!

I’m not quite pleased with Desert Cove Nursing Center. The place is rundown. Everything is very old, worn out, and needs painting and complete maintenance. The service is adequate, not superior. They did their job, but they didn’t do anymore than they had to do. For the food, you can tell they don’t use high-quality ingredients. There is no effort to make it more palatable.

My mother was in this facility for a few days. She was supposed to be there for at least a month. It was so bad that she requested to be allowed to go home instead of staying there where she, supposedly, could be cared for. Facility was dirty. Bathroom sink was stopped up, and bathroom floor was flooded. Food was horrendous, and often cold when served. Nursing staff was very inattentive, seemed not to care at all for the welfare of their charges. Medications not delivered on schedule.

I would like to commend their staff for taking phenomenal care of my father while in their care. My father was practically immobile, had physical dietary restrictions and was just recovering from a hip fracture in addition to Parkinsons disease. The nurses and care staff ensured that he was taken care of from a medical perspective and also kept him very cheerful with their awesome attitude and helpfulness. We cannot say enough about the kitchen staff - they provided timely, fresh and very appetizing meals to suit my father's dietary restrictions, and were always very helpful. The kitchen was immaculately clean at all times that we were there. It was amazing! Last but not least, the gym and physiotherapy staff just rock! They helped, cajoled and made my Dad walk with the help of a walker before he came home. They displayed patience, compassion and great care and helped my Dad get better. They also trained my mom who is my Dad's primary caretaker to effectively deal with his physical limitations. The case manager was very quick to update us with progress, and always kept us in the loop - we really appreciated her willingness to help at all times. We had a chance to interact with the Director of the center who was also very helpful. The various entertainment activities like Bingo, etc, were very well organized and helpful for recovery of the patients. All in all, this center extended the same courtesy and level of care not only to my dad but also to all other patients who were there during the time. I am so glad we chose this center to help my father recover. He is now safely back home and we are richer for the wonderful experience and pleasant memories we have of Desert Cove Nursing Center - Truly a home away from home!

My Mom was at Desert Cove Skilled nursing for 30 days recovering from a brain injury. The physical therapy staff was amazing and she made a huge improvement and was released into assisted living. Each therapist treated her with a lot of kindness and compassion. Tat, her case manager truly cared about my Mom and was always there for us. My Mom liked every nurse she had over the 30 day period but one. I would highly recommend Desert Cove.

I would not take, or leave your loved ones in this rehabilitation center. My grandmother was a guest for one night until we removed her from their care. they were hours late on giving her medication. they would NOT respond to the call light that was on for hours and she had to get up to use the restroom twice in the middle of the night without assistance. The bed she was given was unsuitable for her needs. The next day we went to go visit and that's when we were in formed about her care while we were gone throughout the night. the patient next to my grandmother a really sweet lady also told us what happened and how she hated it there. After hearing that my family packed up my grandmothers belongings and took then to the car while the nurse was in and out, but was naive to what was going on. Then we helped my grandmother up and we pushed her out on her walker. That shows how unattentive the staff is. and on top of that they didn't call till 42mins later trying to tell us our family member was gone.

I am truly thankful to all the staff for taking such a wonderful care of my Husband after his pacemaker surgery. The amount of care received from the Director, nurses, kitchen workers to the custodians was overwhelming, it gave us piece of mind when leaving him every evening in their care. My husband was truly satisfied through his 15 day stay, special thanks to Michelle, Amy, Brenda, Cliff, Tat, and most of all to the Executive Director Brett, who made it a point to come in every day to ask if everything was being done to make my husband's stay, more comfortable. Sincere thanks, The Chambers family

My friend was a patient at Desert Cove and I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the building and attentiveness of all the staff. I helped her tour other facilities before selecting Desert Cove for her nursing care and we both felt that the warmth expressed by the staff was far superior over the other facilities. She received excellent care, LOVED her therapists and much to her surprise she enjoyed the meals served here as well. Desert Cove gets a five star in my book!

My boyfriend was at desert cove for close to two weeks. It was by far the WORST experience we have ever had. If I could give this place a "negative stars" rating... Believe me, I would. To start, they were constantly forgetting him. He would press his button and it would take over an hour for anyone to get to him. If he had to go to the bathroom he would be stuck waiting and when he finally got up and went by himself, the staff would scold him for getting up without assistance. His medication was never on time. He had one shower in two weeks... And that's only because I eventually called and raised hell. The physical therapist verbally abused him right in front of me and my family because he wanted to wait to do his physical therapy until after we had left. She was completely out of line and her language was inappropriate. I could seriously go on for days about how awful this place was to us. And the icing on the cake? Before he was discharged they took. X-rays to send over to his doctor. They had to do it two times because they X-rayed the wrong part of his leg the first time. We were reassured that the X-rays would he sent to his doctor (literally right across the street). Like we had guessed, when he got to his doctos appointment, they weren't there. And to add to it, they had him under a completely different first name, and yet again, they x rayed the wrong part of his leg!!!!! Even the doctor was angry. I do not recommend taking anyone that you love to this facility. And I plan to report them to as many places as I need to, to have this place exposed for the awful providers they really are

DO NOT take your loved one here! My mom was in there for rehab therapy after a fall and ended up almost dying because of their neglect! She was there 2 weeks and they never cared if she ate or not so she lost a bunch of weight and became increasingly weaker. She was there to get stronger! She got a very bad diarrhea there and would take their sweet time to come when she needed help to bathroom, and would leave her sitting in her feces. Her rear end was severely scalded. Her roommate told me that one time the nurses came in and got her to the bathroom and just hosed her off while she stood there crying in the corner. She said they were standing there laughing!!!!! I only found all this out when my mom called me and said she couldnt breathe and no one was helping her. She has a history of pneumonia and other lung issues so I was extremely concerned. They did nothing for her for several hours said there was a dr that would be in to see her but it ended up there was not one in the building like they said there was. The night nurse came in and just proceeded to try to give her her meds like nothing was going on. So at 930 pm I took her out of there and took her to the hospital. We got an ambulance and luckily the hospital was right across the street. She was so pale and blood pressure was high. She had pneumonia. She is still in the hospital. These people almost killed my mother. I am so grateful that I was able to get her out of there. I hope her roommate will be ok. They made her stay in that room with my sick mom and her coughing and explosive diarrhea. Please do not take anyone here. And if you know anyone in there, do what you can to get them out. I guarantee they are not being cared for. It looked like it was a place to go and die :(

I had a bad experience with Desert Cove. I spent 35 days there with a catheter on me and they never questioned it. The staff would ignore me and nobody was helping me. I only got two showers for the 35 days I was there. It was terrible. The doctor I saw after I left the place had told me that because I had the catheter, this will give me bladder problem in the long run. I do have that problem now. I got incontinence.
