My mother-in-law is a resident of Gardens of Wetumpka since November. They're excellent. I would recommend anyone consider them. The staff members are attentive to the residents and they work well with people like me. They do all of her laundry. If my mother-in-law has trouble with her TV, she pulls the string and they come help her with that. They just help her with anything she might need. The Gardens of Wetumpka just did all the legwork to find her a doctor and to make an appointment so we could get her the medical waiver form signed and she could get moved in. That was very helpful because they did a lot of legwork for us. They're willing to help. They have exercises every morning, they have someone come in every week to sing songs for them, and they have a movie day every Friday with popcorn. My mother-in-law had her birthday while she was there and they gave her a tiara and made her the birthday queen for the day. My mother-in-law is in a private room. She said the food is spectacular. She has put on a little weight. I don't have any frame of reference for the price, but it seems to be a fair price.

I'm going to the Gardens of Wetumpka. I loved it. Everybody was so nice. The price is OK, and it includes everything. I won't get a bill at the end of the month to surprise me. I checked all around in Alabama, and that was the best place. My son and I looked at it and we didn't decide right away, but after we talked about it and looked at other places on the internet, we thought that was the best place for me to go. When I move in, the chef will meet me, and he will make food that I can eat. They have a calendar of everything that happens during the month. They give it out at the end of the previous month. They go to a seafood place sometimes to eat. They have buses that take the residents. They visit different places. They have a lot of activities going on. They have a crafts day and several things going on all during the month. There's a nursing home just down the street not far and you're transferred from there to the nursing home. The staff was very friendly and nice. I met the one from the corporate office while I was there. I met the administrator who showed me around and met with me. My son was with me, and he asked questions. We were very happy with everything. They told tell me they hope that I would decide to come there. The residents there were so friendly. They had two houses and I'm going to be in the second house. I already know where my room will be. They had a big back area, like a big patio that was covered where you could go out and read and watch the birds and that kind of stuff. They do puzzles and I love puzzles. I was pleased with everything and my son was too. This was not cheap, but it was all-inclusive. The administrator was wonderful.

The rooms at Gardens of Wetumpka were more updated. This was the nicest of the bunch, and it seemed to have larger spaces. It was not as crowded as some of the others.

My grandmother, whom we call Mo-mow, moved into this facility in the summer of 2011 after my grandfather passed away. I like that it is a smaller community: I feel like Mo-mow gets the attention she needs. The staff seems to genuninely care for the residents, for example they remember information and details from conversations Mo-mow has had with them, such as great grand children's names and the like. The rooms are smallish but fine. There is ample parking. Mo-mow seems to enjoy the community dining and the activities. She's always winning some kind of prize, and they make a deal over birthdays, so that's nice. She's had to visit the rehab facility associated with the assisted living home a couple of times due to falls (she's 91 and still walking :)), and has found that amenable as well. Overall, a great community. I would recommend this facility to anyone to whom it was convenient.
