My sister-in-law went to Haven Memory Care. We are doing respite first. We wanted to see how she would react to being somewhere. I've been her caregiver for over 12 years and I'm in desperate need of a break. They seem to be very caring people. They seem to make sure that everyone that comes in there to work has to have a good attitude and has to be in an upbeat position. The facility itself is fairly nice. But I wish they have a couple of other things that the other place had. They have a smaller facility, which makes it a little bit more one-on-one, which I like. Their rooms are a little bit bigger than the other place. Also, there are other people there that taught in college like my sister-in-law, so that will be a good thing. They have movie nights once a week. They have times when they do special recreational-type things. They take them out to go to places occasionally depending on the weather. They play cards, they play bingo, and they do exercise routines and stuff. However, the value for money is still a little high.

My mother stayed for 3 years. I had to move her due to the new staff. They let the place go down hill. Filthy room. Her clothes would come back from the laundry with poop stains all down the legs. I had to throw them away. They found her on the floor with her pants half off and asleep where she had fallen and went to the bathroom all over her self. they called me and asked what they should do I said send her to the emergency room where I met her she had a UTI. I could go on and on About the last year of her stay in 2021.

My husband is at Haven Memory Care. It's clean, and they have professional staff. He has been there for two years now. The staff is very caring and competent. The food has been excellent. They have a number of activities, and they do a lot of arts and crafts, too. The place is tastefully decorated, and it's safe.

My mother moved into The Haven in Gulf Shores last October. I voiced my concerns with the administrator, and now I see a lot of activities going on, so I think she is trying to shape them up. It has assisted living and memory care. They had new management starting last March. They have comfortable couches in the common area, transportation available, and someone donated a piano to the assisted side. They have manicures, different groups come in and play music, and do crafts. They have a nice area outside. My mother is happy there.

I like that The Haven of Gulf Shores has only 40 rooms, so it is pretty quaint. The staff are all really nice. My dad seemed to be pleased with the food. I like the fact that my dad doesn’t have to move to a different facility if he needs the next level of assistance.

The Haven happens to be nearby where I’m living now. The tour was fine. Mostly what my wife and I were looking for was not necessarily that much of assisted living that they provide. We were looking for more of an independent-living within an assisted-living community type of thing. Both my wife and I wanted to be together, and they only had single rooms. The lady we met was fine; she was really personable and was full of good information. It was good because it had just been renovated and redone, and it was practically new. It would be fine for an individual, someone who needed a lot of help, and someone who is not very active.

The Haven is a newer facility and it is very beautiful, but it was smaller. They were so new that they really didn’t have anything going forth yet, but I feel that they are very nice also. They have bigger rooms and a brand new facility.
