The caregivers could have a greater impact if they could take more initiative. My mother is there, and I don't think she asks the caregivers to do much, but I would have them do a lot more. I just pay for it, and I am not there where the client is. There are days when they're off or they don't show up, but they do try to bring someone else in. They need to improve consistency. I know there is turnover, but the biggest thing is consistency.

They have made it positive because before he had a fall. My brothers and sisters and I were at his house 24/7, and when they took over, it's made our lives a lot easier. My dad is 97 and needs help. He can walk with his walker, but it is possible he could fall and need help in the bathroom, and they never leave him alone and are always with him.

Overall, they were helpful with always finding someone because they are big, but they had average caregivers. The cost is more expensive than other places that I've found. It took a while to find a caregiver that was a good fit. I had to take more time than with other agencies to find someone that I liked. The caregiver quit and I was left with no one that I liked.

It was very helpful because I was worn out. At the end, it was good. I thought that most of the caregivers were very good. There was only one the I questioned because she had just got off a twelve hour shift and was going to do another twelve hour shift with my father. Once the caregiver didn't give my father enough liquids.

Today, there was a caregiver who was supposed to be here at 1 o'clock, and they called me at 12:12 to let me know the caregiver wouldn't come. I can't leave the home or do anything outside of the house if they don't send a caregiver. Four out of the first eleven days of February, they sent no one, and two of those days I had doctor appointments. They thought nothing about sending anybody else. Someone told me that someone from the office would come if the caregiver couldn't make it, and that was a total lie.

A lot of the caregivers didn't really know very much about how to start or take out his IV. They just had us do everything and they never offered to do anything to help; I thought that was pretty poor. The caregivers need more training. They could have been more well trained and more engaged.

It's not the caregivers themselves, it's the people who run the service. One of the managers was very argumentative, very impolite, would always cut in when I was speaking with her, and seemed to just want to bring more money for the company. She was rude. Our caregiver came and provided outstanding service. My mother in law grew very comfortable with her and specifically asked for her to come back. We hired her for the purpose giving showers a few times a week.

Susie quickly came out to evaluate our situation and set up a schedule to provide exceptional care for my mom and dad. Along the way she would re-assess their needs and give me status reports; she was always there for support and to answer questions. Trenna is a gem, she assisted with bathing, dressing, medication reminders, meal preparation, household chores and whatever else she could do to help out…all with a sweet smile on her face.
