The 10 Best Home Care Agencies for Seniors in Cape May County, NJ for 2025

The Genworth 2021 Cost of Care Survey doesn’t include cost data for Cape May County, so local care costs are based on rates in Ocean City, which is located within the county. Home care agencies in this region charge $5,529 for care, which is several hundred dollars over the national median but in line with the state rate. Care costs in surveyed cities within the state are considerably cheaper, with seniors in Vineland paying $4,767 and those in Trenton paying $5,148. Across state lines in Dover, Delaware, rates are closer to Cape May County’s average at $5,339.

Home care agencies in Cape May County provide nonmedical services in the individual’s home and charge $5,529 per month. • Medicare: Medicare does not cover in-home care because it is classified as custodial, or non-medical, care. However, some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, which offer expanded benefits, may cover in-home custodial care.
• Medicaid: Medicaid coverage of in-home care varies between different states because it is not a federally mandated benefit. Currently, all states cover some in-home care either through their standard Medicaid or a waiver program. The specific coverage rules are set individually by each state.
