While both in-home care and home health care are one-on-one services delivered in a senior’s home, there are several distinct differences between these two types of care.
In-home care is nonmedical care provided by a home care aide or a trained individual who has successfully passed any state-mandated background checks. Home care services are designed to help seniors remain independent, and can include socialization, assistance with laundry and light housekeeping, escorts to appointments and support with personal hygiene. By comparison, home health care is delivered by licensed and regulated health care professionals, and this type of care may include wound management, monitoring of vital signs and rehabilitation services.
