I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have been acquainted with this facility since my grandmother was a resident here back in the 1980s. It was a wonderful facility then and continues to be. At present I am a daily visitor to a long time friend and am most impressed with the care and attention residents receive. The facility now follows The Planetree Model of care which makes it an outstanding facility. There are many daily activities for residents as well as many choices of dining rooms for residents to choose from. Meal preparation is of a high quality and staff with few exceptions assists residents in their meal choices. Rooms are spacious and extremely clean and kept up. Interactions with staff are wonderful throughout the course of my visits. I find the administration and the staff are superior to many other facilities. I heartily recommend this facility. As a licensed social worker I have visited many area nursing homes and found this to be the best in the area.

The staff at Bishop Wicke Health & Rehabilitation Center is excellent. They're very professional, always pleasant, and very prompt with any questions. I have no complaints whatsoever. The facility is very well kept up, very clean, and very welcoming. The grounds are beautiful too. They go out of their way to make us as comfortable as possible during the pandemic, which is surprising as it's a very difficult thing to do. They try to accommodate my mom as much as possible during the pandemic so that she can see her family. They have a lot of different activities. They have indoor activities and they're starting to have outdoor activities. They've done bingo, crafts, and outdoor activities for Mother's Day. My mom mentioned music, game playing, and some dancing that didn't include family because of the pandemic, but they are saying that they will be able to include more family eventually. I know that they said that before the pandemic, they were able to have picnics outside with the family, but as of now, they have not been able to do that. We have not been able to sample the food as family members, but my very fussy mom, says the food is very good there. We've made a couple of requests that my mom enjoys and they accommodated. They told us to just ask and as long as it's safe within her medication list, she can have it. I think we are getting what we're paying for. She's getting good care, everyone is very friendly. They remember, not just my mom, but each one of my sisters and me. They remember our names and who we are. They remembered to tell us my mom's needs especially because my mom has dementia.

I visited this facility

Bishop Wicke was a nice place and I liked that it was all in one floor. You walk in and it feels like you’re walking into little apartments. The location though was not good for my dad.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Grandfather spent time at Bishop Wicke for rehab. Upon arriving, we found him in bed with same clothes he had on the day before. He is diabetic, and we were constantly having to stop staff and cna's from giving him fatty, sugary foods. Grandfather ran out of soap and asked for two days (scary to think of what staff was washing their hands with in his bathroom) Bathrooms are shared by FOUR beds, so if you have an urgently needed trip to the bathroom prepare to have an accident…also had to request toilet paper twice. The rooms are not cleaned daily and there are NO hand sanitizer dispensers posted inside the rooms (I noticed one at the main entrance). The list goes on and on and on. It's scary to imagine what kind of care he would have received had we not been there everyday to remind staff of his needs. The rehab staff simply checked the block. I observed staff members texting and paying more attention to their cell phones than the patient exercises. In the end there were some very nice registered nurses and Rachel from the kitchen was exceptionally attentive. Other than that, prepare to micro-manage your loved-one's care. Disorganized, lack of communication, and substandard operating procedures had us worried about our grandfather everyday…couldn't wait to get him home.
