Colonial Assisted Living at Miami

I moved to Colonial Assisted Living at Miami. During my tenure here, I've come up with a few things missing, personal items, memorabilia and family looms, and private stuff. I'm not the only person complaining, but this is what's been going on. This is why I'm looking for another place. I went to management a couple of times. They said, "We'll take care of it", but nothing ever happens, so I'm very disappointed with the way things are run here by the management. The facility is good. The cleaning, the dining room, and everything that has to do with it, it's just the management and operations where I find the problems. The variety of meat, I mean, now and then you get some real chicken. I'll call it real chicken, and most of the time it's breaded chicken. It's not the best, but at least I've been able to lose weight. They have bingo. It's not a large amount of facilities. They don't have an exercise room. They don't have a pool or anything like that. It's just sitting at a table with bingo and whatever, games or checkers. Before the company bought it out, the management came to me and said, "Well, we charged you $3000 when you first came here, now, it's going to be $3500". That was a dagger. I don't feel like it's worth it. I'm independent. I think maybe it would be more appropriate if a person had to be cared for like, taken out of the bed and moving around, but not for me. That's why I think it's inadequate for my particular type of needs.

My friend has moved into Colonial Assisted Living at Miami. It's a nice place. It's very clean. The people there are very nice. Even though they don't have medical staff on board, other than the CNAs, they arrange for things. My friend has a nurse that comes in and gives him his insulin. They make his doctor's appointments for him and things like that. My friend's room is not opulent or anything like that, but it's nice. He has a closet and a bed. He has a roommate. He doesn't have to stay in his room all the time. There's a little patio where you can go outside. I think his only issue is that he has to be back by 9 p.m., but other than that, it's nice. They have a large common area. There's a TV and a piano. They have a church that comes in and does Bible study once a week. When we came in yesterday, they were having a birthday party for someone. One night they were playing bingo. They have a game night and a movie night. So, they have activities for them. The staff members are all very friendly.

Colonial assisted Living in Miami Review My loved one hasn’t been here for very long and I am already experiencing discrepancies compared to our initial visit. Within the last week and a half, I’ve noticed on 3 out of 5 visits, my loved one was left soiled and smelled of urine and feces, another day they had an unexplained bruise on their arm. I initially expressed that direct care is mandatory as they suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and I was met with guarantee’s and an act of what seemed to be a genuine desire to help during this difficult time. Well, unfortunately the type of care I was promised and feel my loved one deserves has not been provided here after countless conversations. It makes me truly sad that I trusted this company and went against my better judgement by deciding to place them here. I take full responsibility for being naive to a wolf in sheep clothing.

I had an in-person tour of Colonial Assisted Living at Miami. It was a very good tour, and I got a lot of information. It was a very clean place and very organized. The people seemed very happy with what they were doing. We saw a room that I could share with someone else and a private room that I would like. They took me into the area with people where everybody was happy and waiting for a meal. The guy told me that they do two seatings for each meal, so that way you could go in any time you want during those two seatings. I am on a special diet, and he said they could cater to whatever diet I'm on. He showed me a room with a shower in the bathroom area. They could provide a stool to sit on and send somebody in each day to assist you. They have a game room and several outdoor spaces where you could go and sit in the gardens. The private room was spacious. I could bring my furniture if I wanted, but there was no kitchenette.

I went to Colonial Assisted Living at Miami. I thought it was nice. I like it. It's wide, it's not like a little house. I don't want my mother in a little house. I want her to be able to come out of the room and share with people, do other things and they do have a big, big, humongous room. They do activities out there. It's very spacious. Ben is a great guy so far. I only met him a couple of times. The lady, the other day, was extremely, very nice. She's going to be in a semi-private room, but everything was very clean and nice that they showed me. I went the other day again because I had to bring some paperwork, and they were doing some painting things with this lady. You get them all, the whole group on a table, doing some painting, watching the painting on the TV. They even have a piano, I don't know if they play the piano, but it seems nice and clean. Everybody seemed fine. The staff was very nice. I hope they treat my mother the same way they treated me. She will probably move in next month.

The staff in Colonial Assisted Living at Miami is very helpful. They take very good care of my husband, and they keep the residents involved with activities. He also likes the meals very, very much. He's already made a tie dye shirt, did all kinds of arts and crafts, and word puzzle books. I've also been there when they've done things like singing and stuff, and they do a lot of interacting, not only with the staff, but with each other. His room is always very clean. He shares a room with someone and they keep it very neat. It's got a window in it, so it's not just four walls. It is nice.
