I visited this facility

Sterling Aventura was very nice and very clean. The folks were very friendly and professional. It was very well taken care of. I went to the memory care and the staff there was very friendly. They have sitting areas that are very nice and a place to do exercise. The dining area was very nice, too. It was spacious and clean. It's open all day, and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was very nicely kept. The waitresses seemed very nice. It's a sit-down location. So, they come and they serve you from a menu of what you order, like when you're at a restaurant.

Provider Response

Martha, thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at The Sterling Aventura! We can't wait to see you again, have a great day.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved into The Sterling Aventura. It was somewhat affordable. My apartment is good. The amenities are acceptable and reasonable. We have a full day of activities for those who want to participate. The food is certainly not healthy in general. The staff members are great.

Provider Response

Hello Bob, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us this feedback. If you ever need anything else from us, please feel free to give us a call or stop by. Have an awesome day!

Sterling Aventura was very nice. They pretty much have everything. It's a little bit cheaper but I don't like being down there in Miami. It's not the best place to be. I have nothing against them or anything like that. It was more the town that I didn't like because a lot of people don't like to go that far south. The staff were OK. They were very nice. They answered all my questions. The facilities were very clean. It's a very tall building. It's like a 10-story high.

Provider Response

Janet, we are so pleased you enjoyed your visit to The Sterling Aventura! Please let us know if there is anything additional we can do for you.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife moved into Sterling Aventura. As far as what I'm seeing now, I'm satisfied with the way she's being treated and adhered to. The staff is very caring and they're aware of what's going on. They're doing what they were asked to do. They remember the names of every resident there, so the interpersonal element is impressive. There was a bingo game when I was there one time, so there was an assertive effort to draw the residents out to participate. Whenever I go there to visit my wife, she's not in her room, and I'm satisfied with that.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your positive comments about The Sterling Aventura! We aim to provide five-star experiences and welcome the opportunity to discuss any concern to ensure a five-star experience in the future.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law is now a resident of Sterling Aventura. We chose this place for him because the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, and we just had a good feeling as soon as we walked in. It seems like everybody's been working there for a long time. They have activities for the people there all day long, but they don't have very many amenities, though they have a hairdressing salon, an outdoor space seating area, a TV room, and a dining room. The food has been good so far.

Provider Response

Anika, thank you for your kind words and this wonderful review! We hope you have a great day.

Sterling Aventura was a large place, and they were doing some renovations. They had a studio and a 1-bedroom apartment, and they were both really good. There was a cafeteria area, an outdoor area, and a media room. The staff who gave me the tour was great. She showed me a board where the activities and the menus were posted.

Provider Response

Your recommendation means so much to us and we're so happy to have earned it. Thank you for taking the time to let the world know about your positive experience. Have a great day!

I visited this facility

I went to Sterling Aventura at 11:00 AM during the week, and there was a group of folks who went on an outing. Then I met with Mark; he was the one who toured us. He also called and followed up with me after the tour. I saw a lot of activity. The residents I spoke to were friendly and appeared to be happy. The facility was clean and comfortable. The staff that I interacted with was very kind, attentive, and visible. I really liked that, and I would choose that facility for my brother.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father was at Sterling Aventura and it was great. I live a long distance away, and they made sure to provide you with a portal through which you can spend face-to-face time with your relative. They also give you updates on what they do per day and what they are scheduled to do. They make sure that the residents are well fed and taken care of. The ratio, especially with dementia patients, was low, which I loved because my dad had one-on-one care pretty much. My dad had his own room, but he had a roommate. The room was beautiful. They fixed it to adjust for people with dementia. They had certain things to help people with memory loss, and it was just perfect. I wish I had gotten him in there earlier. We loved it. They take them shopping, do field trips, bingo nights, and different music nights. They take pictures, send them to you, and put them up on the bulletin board. My dad really loved it. They had a calypso night. They try to keep them doing what they used to do. It was a little pricey, but it was worth every penny of it. They will work with you and come up with a plan for you.

I visited this facility

The guy at Sterling Aventura was super nice. When we went in there, he instantly sat us down, and did a whole intake of what my cousin's husband needed. He was very sympathetic to him. I was very, very impressed with him. He showed us all around, he showed us the room. We just absolutely liked it. The staff was very professional, and everything was super clean. And then he gave us a follow-up call. We were very, very impressed with the facility and the staff. It would have been the one that we would have chosen. The third floor is specifically for memory care. The staff brought us downstairs also for us to see the patio area where sometimes they bring them to. It was great on the third floor where they had their activities and everything, with lots of windows looking out, and the view was beautiful. It felt very calm there. What I liked about it is that they had a separate floor completely for memory people and specifically the staff there dealt with the memory people. That's what impressed me more on the other one. The people that we spoke to were very informative, very competent, and professional, and most of all, they were very caring. The staff was fantastic. He walked the extra mile. Afterward, he checked up on us and we told him my cousin's husband took a turn for the worse, but the staff was so kind and everything.

Sterling Aventura was a little dated, but the staff said that they were updating everything. The actual rooms were being updated. I did see one that had been updated and it was nice and I liked that. I said, "When are you guys doing it?" He said, "Immediately." I was actually on the memory care floor, and he said this is the first one that they're gonna do, but they also didn't have any availability at the moment. He said I'd have to go on a waitlist as well, which is fine. Everybody was nice. I met the people in the cafeteria and the kitchen and some of the staff. They had a big area where they had games and TV and everything. I saw downstairs they had a nice outside patio area with chairs where they bring the residents down to spend some time outside. I saw a couple of living areas where they have tables, sofas, and chairs where people can have visitors or they can just talk amongst themselves. The staff was great. The attention was great. I was pleased with that. Everybody was very nice and very attentive. It seemed like a good place and I know that they were gonna do some remodeling, so I feel like it will probably be a lot nicer when they do them. It was clean.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

I toured The Sterling Aventura for my mother. They told me that it is going through renovation now and they still have a lot of work to do to upgrade everything. They showed us a few areas that were already upgraded. It was a very nice facility, but it needs more upgrading. They said it will take maybe a year or two to get the project done. The person who assisted me was very nice, very knowledgeable, and very helpful. They have a library, an arts and crafts area, a great game room area, and a very nice dining room. And they have an outdoor area that was also nice. It wasn't the top kind, gorgeous place, but, again, they're just starting to work on it.

My mother moved into Sterling Aventura assisted living a month ago. So far, so good. I think they have a really good and really great staff. They seem to get along, compared to where she was before where they're in conflict with each other. It's just night and day better at Sterling. The dining room is fantastic, and the food is really good. Their nursing is excellent. Their activities coordinator, Daniel, is fabulous. They just really have a good group of people there. They're friendly, and they're taking good care of my mom. She told me she's happy there, and she seems to be happy. For her to say that is amazing.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My cousin is at Sterling Aventura, so far, so good. I don't know what the place is like because I'm in Colorado, but she says it's okay. She said some of the staff are good, some aren't, and the food is just so-so. She is in a studio apartment, and she likes it. They have lots of activities, and she loves them. They have bingo and dominoes, and so far, that's what she likes to do. They have a courtyard but because of Covid, they can't go there. There's one staff that is not that great, but most of them are really nice, and that's good. It's a pretty good facility.

Management is poor, never can get in touch with someone in charge. They are shorted staffed especially at night and weekends and do not respond quickly to calls for assistance. They increase the rent often as it month to month and have no consideration for the elderly that are on budgets trying to survive. The rooms and public space are nice but the operation and management is poor.

I visited this facility

Sterling Aventura was not as clean as the other place, but the people there seemed very happy. The common areas were not as big and as spacious, and you have to bring all your own stuff there. There were no furnishings provided whatsoever. The building itself had just a parking lot around it. There wasn't any place to go, just a little patio. When you look out the window, you just see buildings, not anything else.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I toured 3 highly recommended facilities and ultimately easily selected sterling. I could not be more pleased with my experience at Sterling Aventura thanks to Mark and Patricia. I live out of state and made an emergency trip down when I heard defeat in my typically optimistic cheerful dads voice. On day 1 when I called to set up an initial tour and then showed up too early, Mark was unfazed by my disregard of schedules, pleasant, professional, and welcoming. He understood almost instantly the level of dementia that we were dealing with. The details of his exceptional handling of my cynical self, my resistant weary overly stressed, in-denial dad and my confused mom , resulted in the most amazing and unbelievably seamless transition. From The thought he put into which room location would be best to his selection of dining room companions and table for her was astounding . The clean, beautiful bright room was welcoming and furnished for us with care. The communal dining room that I actually can eat in without getting nauseous has one of the kindest men, Alex, as their head chef. You can see that his residents matter to him. Mom has been there almost a week and Mark sends me daily videos where I see for myself how happy, relaxed, carefree and involved she is. Daniel, the activities director does an amazing job keeping all his confused residents as focused as possible and totally happy and engaged. I kept telling myself that it was too good to be true and I wanted to review it before the honeymoon ended. I plan to review again in one month but for now, this is everything and way more than I could have hoped for. The decision and then the act of moving a loved one into a " facility " is emotionally brutal and should be regarded as a process. Mark M's sensitivity, flawless listening skills, simple lease with basically no commitment and white glove handling of everyone including providing my dad with his cell number were paramount to our decision to "go for it". I only hope it continues to be the happiest place on earth for my mom who seems to think her new friends and family have always been with her. My 86 year old dad, although distraught at moving his wife of 60 years out of their home, now has hope for his own future. Thank you.

The Sterling Aventura is a 1-bedroom and 1 bath apartment. There’s a mini refrigerator and a microwave. It’s nice and small, but my parents need to scale down. I liked when I walked in, it felt like the Ritz Carlton Hotel. The people were incredibly pleasant, I just like the entire facility, and its 5 minutes from me; that’s the main reason. They have constant activities, and my parents will be moving on Monday.

The Sterling Aventura was the one that I really liked. It was much more relaxed, and the facilities had a nice, casual, homey atmosphere about it. The people were all very nice, the staff was excellent, and it looked like their dining area was great. I think they had little tables set up, and they had a menu. The way it was all organized looked really nice. The rooms were very nice.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am happy in Sterling. It is nice. The people are pleasant, and the administration is decent. My room is nice and like a tiny apartment with one large bedroom and a little alcove where I put a small table and chairs, and a bathroom. The staff is very good. They have enough activities to do, so I am content. They take me to a church on Sundays, and I am very pleased because some other places have no interest in doing that. The food is decent. Perfect? No, because I am a better cook that anybody I know. I think I can go up against the cooks on television. You have choices, like between a hotdog or a hamburger. The rooms are a good size. I have my own furniture and prints on the walls, so it really feels like my old place now.

We chose Sterling Aventura for my mother and stepfather. They have only been there for a month now. It is a very nice facility. They have their own apartment in the building with people to check up on them. My mother is the one who really needs the service. They come around every hour to check on her and make sure they are inside during the night. During the day, they have activities like social hours, bingo, and movies. They have a very nice restaurant. It is more of like a hotel or an apartment complex with eight floors. I am not sure how many residents live there, but they have a full staff who are very attentive.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I don't know that a review can fully convey what a safe, caring, professional, happy, and loving atmosphere one finds at The Sterling Aventura. My mom recently passed away and my father made the very difficult decision to relocate 1/2 way across the country to South Florida to be closer to us. I was completely unprepared for the job of finding an assisted living community and all that went into it. Among many other things, Barry handles the leasing at The Sterling, and quite simply he can only be described as a gem. Upon meeting Barry, I immediately felt like I had a new friend, one who would walk me through the process every step of the way...and he did. Barry went so above and beyond the call of duty. He was incredibly accommodating and not only made my father feel welcome, but our entire family felt comfortable at The Sterling. It is obvious that Barry genuinely cares about the residents and their families, and pitches in like a family member to do what needs to be done for the residents. Mary, the executive director, is just the same. She bent over backward to make my dad's transition a smooth one. In addition to her total professionalism, Mary always has a friendly smile and a warmth about her that personifies the caring feeling at The Sterling. And, it is the same with all the employees you encounter there from the nurses, the wait staff, the activities director, the concierge, etc. They are all concerned with making sure the residents are happy and well cared for. The food is delicious, also! Truly, it is so good, I'm worried my dad is going to gain too much weight if he isn't careful. The residents will all tell you that this place is the BEST, and to me, that means everything. I hope my dad can stay at The Sterling a long, long, long time! I think the best compliment I can give The Sterling is the fact that every time we go to visit my dad, my 14 year old and I look at each other and say how much we would like to live there! Barry and Mary have really set the bar high there, and the rest of the staff has lived up to the expectations. I have nothing but the best things to say about The Sterling Aventura!

Sterling Aventura is a very nice place. We chose this because I just felt that they have more people of similar background to my mother. The rooms are spacious. The staffing are very nice. The food is okay. In terms of activities, they have exercise classes, brain activities like current event things, movies, and bingo, etc. I did eat there and the food was fine but it wasn't anything great. Food is okay for me, although my mother says it is really not very good.
