My sister has moved into The Gardens Memory Care at River Falls Comforts of Home. They have several different areas there. You can have independent living, assisted living, or memory care. She is in the memory care unit. It's beautiful. They have big, paved, wide walking paths around the facility. They have about four or five large buildings and the walking paths go all the way around and the buildings center around a beautiful little lake or pond with benches. It is quite lovely and very, very safe for walking. The caregivers are wonderful. There is not a nurse on the premise, but they can do blood glucose checks, heart rate checks, and blood pressure checks. They have all the skills, and they have been trained. They are very responsive. In the area where my sister lives, there are only 20 residents and there are about five or six caregivers for those people only, so they get almost individual attention. They have an exercise program that they do three times a week. They have a reading group made up of the residents there. They have religious ceremonies in the dining room if you wish to attend. They have all sorts of games. They do trivia games at least three or four times a week with the activities director. The staff will take people out for walks if they want to go. It's wonderful. I've never eaten there, but they give them three meals a day and from what I've seen, they're very well-rounded meals. A lot of the people who live in that particular area are diabetic, so they are very, very careful about sugar content. They don't serve caffeinated coffee at all. It's only decaf, but there's fresh fruit in the morning and the lunch meal. I have never seen what they serve for dinner, but my sister is pretty picky and she likes the food a lot.
