I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend stayed at Lincoln Park Nursing and Rehab for about two months. I can honestly say there was nothing I liked about the facility. There were at least a couple of weeks when my friend didn't get any therapy because they said they couldn't find the orders. The thing I liked the least was that he was also, in my opinion, a prisoner in his room, practically. The way they have the rooms set up, my friend could not get the wheelchair out of the room by himself. You would have to call somebody if you wanted to get out of the room. So my friend was confined to that room for most of the time he was there. There was no communication with me whatsoever. There was no communication with the nursing staff or the doctor unless I pursued it. Sometimes I did not get the answers to the questions that I had. It was just a horrible experience. Some of the staff were completely unresponsive when I would pursue them either through phone calls or in person when I was in the facility. They also lost a great deal of my friend's clothing. They only send their laundry out once a week. So you need to have at least two weeks' worth of clothing available for the residents, and that clothing disappeared. My friend didn't complain much about the food, but he did to some degree. They had activities, but not many. They left it up to the residents to get there on their own, and my friend couldn't do that. When you came into the building, they had a very nice-looking common area where visitors could sit and meet with the residents if they brought them out there. But the rooms themselves were very small.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Right now my mother is at Lincoln Village – a skilled nursing facility. Mom was taken there directly from the hospital where she had surgery. We go there every day to see how she is doing. They keep the facility nice and clean and you can have either a private or a semi-private room. The food has been good. She needs to have special pureed foods and they have been doing that very well for her. Everybody is very pleasant, but it takes a little bit of a time when she rings a buzzer to get somebody to come in there and that is the only negative thing that we found. They have musical programs and then they have card games. They also have church services and several different events. They have a calendar of events that they publish each month. She is starting to enjoy a few of those things that she can get to.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I stayed in Lincoln Village for 2 months. I had physical therapy and some other therapies. The staff there was fine. There were some people there that were extra special and did good at their job. There was a young man there that was really good. He went out of his way for the patients. I think he's from the Philippines. There was also one girl who was outstanding. One time I was so upset and I threw up all over the place and I heard not one complaint. While I was there, I shared a room with another patient. Food there is quite good. Though I had insurance, I still had a large bill. I paid most of them from my own pocket.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Please, do not bring loved ones here. My father remained there for roughly one week and was sent to the emergency room twice because of neglect. It takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour to get assistance with attitude. I understand that many places are understaffed, but this was astounding. (I am also trained as a CNA and have worked in a nursing home before).

I visited this facility

when we went to lincoln luthern to check things out we were greated by a nurse who helped us with everything, she was very caring. the facility itself looked very clean and looked like the whole place ran very smoothly with barely any problems, we went home and thought about putting her in that facility , so after checking around a little bit that facility seemed to be the best fit for my great aunts needs. she is doing very well in the facility, but being a facility of that nature it is very sad going into that kind of enviornment, i think putting her there was a really hard decision for everyone, but everything will be fine in the end.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

When one of my family members was staying at the nursing home, they had a rough time. The staff didn't seem to care about the residents, and not to mention the food looked dreadful. I felt very sad every time I stepped into the nursing home. Not just sad for my family member but for all the residents. The home itself was pretty clean, it could have been better. The nursing home didnt really have any type of entertainment for the residents, other than tv's in their rooms. The thing that bothered me the most when I went to visit the nursing home, was the way the staff seemed to ignore the residents, almost as if they were dead. I remember the home being very quiet. On several occassions we found our family members room unorganized and messy. This of course was the staffs fault. The people who work at these types of nursing homes really need to be trained better, and they need to care about the people they care for.

My loved one stayed here

Very poorly organized. Staffing included a different nurse every shift and day. No one has answers for family concerns. Call lights on for more than 1 hour before being answered. Staff is loud and inconsiderate. Disrespectful in many cases to what the residents needs are. Meals were served late and cold by the time they reached the resident.
