Horrible! Since our family member has been here, within less than a month the nurse has let pain medicine run out 3 times, which has caused horrible setbacks in care and caused more hospitalizations. Patient has had diarrhea for 2 weeks without care. I asked for something like Gatorade and they don’t have that, ginger ale or 7-up only? Patient on floor was positive for C-Diff and left facility a short time ago. On October 30th, there was only 1 CNA on at least 2 wings. They have Covid outbreak as of today… We had call light on for 20 minutes today with no response. The staff blames each other for mistakes that occur instead of taking accountability. The Dr. through PANS care is the worst! He may walk into the room, ask how you are feeling but if you ask a question or try to get care he tells you to speak to your own primary care doctor? If this is supposed to be the best, I hate to see what a mediocre facility would be like. Stay away, not good!!!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was recuperating in Brookside Care Center for a little while. She had a private room. It was roomy, but it was clinical, and more like a hospital room. Her physical therapist and occupational therapist were very good. The care was excellent. It was very clean, and they were very proactive, especially with COVID, they kept us informed. Some of the staff members were very dismissive, they were mean, they were rude, and even when I complained about it, nothing was ever done. I mean if they did talk to the one person, she never changed her ways. It was one particular staff member that just seemed very dismissive, and the social worker didn't seem to be on top of his stuff.

My mother went to Brookside Care Center for rehabilitation. It's clean and things were in good working order. She liked the people that work there, but because it was a rehab center and a nursing home/assisted living, the building was very big and sprawling. It was hard to find her way around at first, but we figured it out. The staff seemed friendly and attentive, but there was a situation where I didn't feel like people were listening to me. The dining area seemed nice. I liked that they had big containers of water with fruit or vegetables inside to make it like flavored water. Everybody could drink it.

My father was in Brookside Care Center. It was good. They had bingo. The staff was very responsible and on time. To me, the food was lousy. The room was neat and clean.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Because of stroke, my mother had to go to the hospital. The hospital in turn sent her to Brookside Care Center. My parents are familiar with this facility. My grandmother had Alzheimer's and was there before she passed away. Also my parents themselves had used them before. The facility is a nice and clean. They have a 24-hour staff and I think they're giving great care for my mother. If she has to go to the bathroom, she would just ring the buzzer and they are there within the minute. Mom can have 24-hour care there. She seems to be getting better and getting her strength back. For accommodation, my mother is in a room with a shared bathroom. She has her own TV. They have a dining room. They provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for her. They give her good portions and she's eating well. Usually, my dad joins her for lunch and dinner. Aside from the one in her room, they also have a common TV room. For activities, they do therapy three times a week.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My 84 year old mother was in a very bad car accident back in April 2012 and spent her first week in a local hospital. After that she was transfered to the Brookside Nursing home. I visited her almost every day while she was there for those 11 weeks so I have firsthand knowledge of how she was treated and how the facility was run. Brookside first of all is known in Kenosha as one of the best if not THE best nursing home in this area. It is very clean and the care takers and staff for the most part are A-1. They are very friendly, courteous and caring. There are lots of fun activities for the residents put on by the staff but due to the severity of my mother's injuries she was bed ridden the majority of the time except when she had therapy - so - she could not participate in any activities. As for the food, my mother had no complaints except for a few exceptions. Other than that, she said the food was pretty good and she was pleased overall. While my mother said Brookside was a great place in almost all respects, her main complaint was the time it took for a staff member to come to her room when she pressed the bedside call button for assistance. She said sometimes it would take 15 minutes or more, but many times they would be at her side within a few short minutes. So definitely they need more staff on hand from what my mother said and what I saw firsthand. Also, the grounds of Brookside is very scenic and they have a large cafeteria which overlooks a deep woods where there are deer, raccoons and other wild life. Also - I had a grandmother who stayed at Brookside from 1994 until 2000 when she died. My grandmother also liked Brookside very much and had very few complaints as I remember.

Brookside Nursing Home: My grandmother was admitted to Brookside Nursing home in Kenosha after suffering a severe stroke. She has been in this facility since 2009. They have been very good to work with and deal with in this situation. All of the staff has been very welcoming and nice to my family as well as my grandmother. The surroundings of Brookside are nice, with lots of tree's and flowers. There are a few different wings of the facility, each specializing in different disabilities. The rooms are nice and a decent size for a nursing home facility. The meals are varied and are of decent quality. They have a lot of good group activities for the residents to participate in. There is always a group of people watching tv or partaking in a group activity. Brookside also has various outside activities for the residents to participate in. There are frequent trips to the casino as well as other outings.
