My wife was there for rehab for 2 1/2 months. I was there with her from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. 7 days a week and ate lunch there every day for $5. It is very obvious to me why there have a 5 star rating. I don't know who would have given them a 4 on staff. The staff are like ministering angles. I don't know where you could get a better more caring staff. If I ever have to be in a home I hope my children will put me at Cottesmore at Gig Harbor, Wa.

When my sister could no longer care for our mother, my wife and I took on this responsibility. When it became too much for one person to handle (my wife being a licensed caregiver with 10 years of experience) we found a wonderful place for her in an adult home with two other residents and a staff of three. Mom was happier there than I had seen in over a year. She would talk about how great the care was, and how great the food was. It was a bright, happy, and loving place. She stayed there less than 3 weeks. My sister was angry because I moved Mom into a home without consulting her (while she was out of the country). My sister took her out of the home that we had moved her to and took her to Cottesmore of Life Care. When I went to visit her 3 days later, I was shocked by her condition. She seemed to be in a coma and very close to death. It was also obvious that they had not changed her adult diaper and she was wet. There was a doctor there and he was talking about putting my mom on morphine. My mother had always avoided pharmaceuticals and now they were forcing drugs on her. She died two days later. Cottesmore does not have a home atmosphere. It has a hospital atmosphere. Her former care facility felt like life, but Cottesmore feels like death.

Cindy L. in the last week For my mother, and my family, Cottesmore has been beyond wonderful. As a former social worker I have seen many many skilled nursing rehab facilities. Cottesmore is a skilled nursing facility I might have once believed could not possibly exist before my mom's illness. She suffered such a massive stroke it left her without clear speech and only the use of one arm. She could not stand on the one leg not paralyzed because of knee problems. She became fully dependant for all physical needs and unable to clearly communicate with speech. At Cottesmore she had incredible physical, occupational, and speech therapy services for several months but her body did not respond as we had hoped. We chose to keep her care at Cottesmore and she was moved to long-term care. It has now been just over 1 year. The nursing and support staff have since become part of our family. I have always observed sincere caring and attention toward my mom and they are quick to call me with any changes or needs she might have. They managed to help her regain a fighting spirit, despite the condition of her body. From my experience, the facility is beautiful and always clean. Given my social services experience, I am extremely aware of cleanliness, especially odors. Any unpleasant smells (inevitable in this environment) have not been detected in the halls or social areas. The grounds are lovely, as are the family rooms and social areas. The Director of Nursing would often take the time to sit with my mom as she (mom) sipped her daily Diet Pepsi. Everyone's experience is different, and expectations for a skilled nursing facility will obviously differ from person to person. However, a skilled nursing facility cannot be compared to a 5-star hotel. Staffing levels might vary and change, just as they do with any business. But Cottesmore helped my mom regain her spirit for living, and the medical staff maximized her body's ability to heal, despite multiple and ongoing challenges. My mother has been much too ill and medically fragile for us to properly care for her at home (medically or financially) and there is no shortage of guilt about this fact. But Cottesmore's skilled, caring, clean, and respectful environment has truly allowed my family to breathe easier when we cannot be with our mom.

I placed mom at Cottesmore Life Care last August. We like this facility very much. She is in a double room, and it's sufficient for her with lots of closet space. The facility is very nice, and the staff is really good.

I visited a couple of different places, one of which is Cottesmore of Life Care. The staff were very professional. It's a little bit more of a modern facility, so it looked newer and definitely clean. I didn’t try the food there, but it seemed OK. My first impression would be higher with regards to this facility.
