My mom is in Bethany at Silver Lake. It's kind of like a community with buildings, and she's in one of those buildings. It's got ten or 12 residents in one building, and it's a really nice place. The staff is bending over backward for all their patients. There are lots of Alzheimer's and dementia patients in there, and their memories are not so good, and they would sit there and repeat things for them. They're ever so kind. It's also a very clean facility. Everybody is just so accommodating. The most important thing is their care for the patients. It's a nice complex, and it's not very hard to find.

Rooms are adequate, however a/c during the hot summer months would be helpful (and required?). Staff professionalism is hit or miss. The night shift is sometimes negligent. So far, overall communication to family members from this facility is terrible. Food is absolutely HORRIFIC - often served cold with minimal nutritional value. Made for quantity, not quality. This is not an exaggeration, the food here is not good or healthy.

Do not let the reviews fool you. I thought this was a great place for my mom. WRONG. Took forever for aides to answer the call light. My mom who at 71 had major back surgery and was in a lot of pain just sitting was left in the bathroom sitting on the toilet for over 45 minutes after she pulled the call light string, she was screaming for help! The only reason she was found is because her roommate came back in the room. She also waited 5 hours to get pain medication she requested over and over. The only reason she received the medication was because she called me and I went to the facility and talked to the nurse. Do not put your loved ones in this facility.

My 86 yr. old father was transferred to this facility, after being released from the hospital. His major complaint is when he pressed the call button, no one came "immediately" to his call. I understand, he didn't, that this isn't a hospital, where there would be an immediate response to his call button request. However, he did state it could take up to 30 minutes for someone to come to his call request.

My mother was being rehabilitated after her hip surgery here. She became ill with the flu 4 weeks into her stay. She was taken to therapy even though she told them she was ill. She vomited all over the floor and herself loosing her dentures. Staff cleaned her up and threw away her teeth in the process. She was without teeth and being served food she had to chew. Her food was cold most of the time. No one took the initiative to make sure she was cared for correctly.. fed correctly... This care facility is on the National Nursing Home Watch list. They have a red flag "actual harm or imediate jeopardy" rating... they hire persons with known histories of abuse/neglect...

My grandfather was suffering from mild dementia. We knew that he could no longer stay in his own home unassisted, and we worried a great deal about what moving to a new environment would do to his state of mind. This was my mother's dad, so my mom and I toured many facilities in the Everett area. Many of the facilities were great and we started to feel more comfortable about the situation. When we went to Bethany, we knew we had found the place. The environment felt very warm and caring from the minute we stepped in, not institutionalized at all. The room my grandpa ended up settling in was excellent, and bigger than other places we had looked at. Because of his dementia issues, eating and personal hygiene were areas that he needed help with. When he stopped showing up for meals, he was reminded that he needed to eat. When he stopped brushing his teeth and shaving, he was assisted. In a few short weeks, my grandpa, who had been living alone and mostly isolated since my grandmother had died the year before, was communicating with people his own age on a daily basis. After a few months, he even had a girlfriend and it warmed out hearts to see my grandpa move on with his life. We strongly feel that even though it was a difficult decision to move my grandpa out of his home, this ended up being the best scenario possible and my grandpa thrived in assisted living. The best thing about Bethany too was that there was a nursing facility connected with Bethany so that in the event that grandpa needed to transfer to a nursing home, the transition would have been easy.
