I visited my love one in the facility. The staff were very tentative and smiling. I was really happy to see my loved one surrounded by numerous people to care for her. Bainbridge Island is so beautiful and the building being surround by trees was a nice feature to feel not in a big city.

I've visited several times and its great to see happy nurses and happy patients. It's always hard to check a loved one into a nursing home but you will be happy with the care provided here. Therapy is amazing and the nurses really cared. The staff keep you busy during downtime and work hard to get you feeling better.
Very Very worried

Woefully understaffed. Budget cuts are causing the staff to be stretched so thin that decent care is not possible.

I was there today to visit two new residents. One in a wheel chair and weak had to wait a long time for help I asked someone to help her and the aide was complaining how he was the only one he was getting no help. The worst part as you walked down the hall groups of employees with badges on were visiting or chatting with each other, No one seemed to be in charge or looking to see if the clients were being taken care of. It was too crowded and too noisy . I am worried about the health and comfort of my two friends.

So far so good for my dad with dementia. He seems comfortable and well fed and cared for. He says it is okay. Of course no one really wants to be in a nursing home at all so "okay" is as good as its going to get. It is small and homey with big windows.

I think that some of the therapy people, activity people, cooks and volunteers at this home were very friendly. Unfortunately, the care is lacking in the nursing part. It was very sad to see the residents with dementia wandering around crying for help. The staff just ignored them. I saw a confused woman wheeling herself around, crying out for help. She was very distraught. A male nurse just ignored her requests for help while he did his paperwork a few feet away. I was so disappointed to see that the Director of Nursing and the Administrator witness this, and yet they said nothing. Neither of them tried to offer the woman help or console her. It was very sad. If they don't care how can you expect the staff to care?

My mother has NOT had peri care done since October 15!! She now has burning down there while urinating. They have not performed any tests to find out what is going on. The last time she had peri care done, one of the CNA's was too rough . My mom made a complaint and is now being moved to a new room. They are keeping the CNA that failed to perform her duties as required because Island Health is understaffed. Horrible place...DO NOT GO!!!

My grandmother has been in physical decline for quite a while. I'm her last living relative, and as such took her on tours of multiple facilities. This was, by far, the worst place we looked. It was dirty, the staff was unfriendly, and I saw multiple health code violations in the 30 minutes we were there. (Most egregious: a caretaker was eating leftovers off of an elderly resident's discarded plate. This happened in the hallway, in plain sight of everyone, including the charge nurse, and no one batted an eye or said a word.) We couldn't leave this place fast enough. Nursing homes don't have to be this depressing and filthy, as we found out when we found a comparably priced but much cleaner and nicer facility in Seattle.

Before my grandmother passed away we moved her in to this facility, some of the cna's are very nice ,but some of them are very mean as well, i would not recommend Island Health & Rehab Center . they get things mixed up allot, my grandmother was sent to the hospital after one of the nurses aids mixed up medication and gave her an antibiotic that she was very allergic to . the nurses aide was from a nursing agency,i guess they contract out or something .they would also mix up my grandmothers meals (she had special dietary needs) she only had a short stay there we eventually just moved her in with us . this nursing center really needs new management .even though the employees were scattered, my grandmother still enjoyed it there (i am not sure why)they do have some fun things for the residents like bingo arts and crafts and they have party's for holidays and birthdays , the interior is ok looking i guess its pretty but it could be nicer . the patient rooms have two people to a room and it is very hospital like and not very homey . i would not recommend island health and rehab.
