The Estates at Hillside Gardens is an independent living. Primarily, I like that it is a gated community. When I first moved here, the apartments were excellent. They were brand new. They have events that you can participate in if you wish. Most people here are pretty friendly and they help you out if you need any help (some of the bad ones from the staff have already left). They have a gym and a business center or you can use it as a little library. I haven't been there but it's there if you need it. I think they used to drive and help people go to the grocery store (I had a car, so I never utilized any of those services). When I started out here, it was only $950. Then they went up to $1000 to $1060. It's supposed to be low income and they say they're lower than what the market rate is based on algorithms. It's just the prices just become more than a little bit uncomfortable to me.
