My mother was at VMRC. I really can't share anything about it because no one was allowed in because of COVID. I don't think there were any complaints otherwise. They said that you could look through the window if you wanted to, but I just called twice a day since it would be a round trip of an hour to see her. We just called because I thought I could talk longer on the phone and have better communication than trying to look through a window out in the heat. As far as the care, I think that was certainly OK. She couldn't eat some of the meals, but that was not their fault, that was just because she can't swallow some things. I think that it was clean; otherwise, I would have heard about that. She liked the help for the most part. They were good about communicating back and forth with me. If I had any questions whatsoever, all I had to do was call them and they were more than willing to talk to me on the phone.

The people at VMRC are really friendly. They have a lot of volunteers so it's a very helpful community. The staff is wonderful. The food was not good. The facility was old, but the upkeep was wonderful. They have a nice pool, but small. The gym and the rooms were small, too. However, the people are extraordinarily nice so if you live in the area and have family there, that place would be wonderful.

Independent living too regulated. Poor food. Too much served is tasteless and a poor copy of favorite recipes. The same recipes served too often, but each time served is not liked the last time served. Far too much ethnic and not enough foods that elderly people have enjoyed all their life. Too much food served South American (Mexican especially), Asian (and poor "copies of recipes- like gummy rice as well as occasionally half cooked rice. Food is one of the important in life that really makes a difference. Clean. Friendly personal Nice appearance Too costly. (compare) Picking a retirement center is far too important than to be basing the decision on what the sales department focuses on.

I have been to VMRC a number of times. Everybody seems to enjoy it. I also have friends there, so that's the biggest thing. The staff is very welcoming, very nice, and very thoughtful. However, I need to get something near an elevator because the halls are long. The cleanliness is wonderful, and the facility looks really good to me. It looks like they have taken into account everyone's abilities. It's also near the hospital and a lot of my friends and family.

Virginia Mennonite is beautiful and new. They have a permanent nurse, a pool, bank, store, library, and everything you need. I had a good lunch in their dining area, where you can choose two or three meals. It's a very good place, and I would love to live there.

VMRC provided excellent care, and the staff was very good. The grounds were very nice, and the place had a homey feeling. The staff was very friendly, the facility was clean, and I liked the community. People didn't have to leave at all because they had everything they needed there. It was a great facility.

My mom is at VMRC is in their nursing home facility, and we are very happy with what she had there. She is getting really good care. The rooms are great. The food is probably average to above average. They go on trips, and they also do arts and crafts. They have a bus that takes them.

I did visit VMRC and I would highly rate them. You can get everything in this facility without going outside. They have independent, assisted, as well as nursing home. They have a very nice dining room. I have been in their independent living where you have your own apartment. The residents can either go down and eat meals with everybody or they can have your meals prep in your room. I was very impressed with this place.

My mother-in-law lived there. The facility was fantastic. I spoke to them and their price is much higher and I couldn't afford them. The problem was they were not willing to work with us on the medicaid program although we already had a family member with them because they said they were reserving them to the other people who were already in their other facility. So, you would have to be in there for several years before they could help you with medicaid.

In my experience, VMRC is a terrific assisted living facility. All of the employees are friendly and willing to help the residents with whatever they need. I have never seen any of them do or say anything rude. They also make sure they are well staffed so no one gets ignored or forgotten. Not only are the employees polite, but they are very personable and remember the names of the residents which makes it feel more like a home. The facilities are always in good working order and things like light bulbs get changed when needed. Every time that I have visited it was clean and there weren't random items laying around. In short, I was, and continue to be, very impressed with this establishment.

My experience with this assisted living/nursing home care provider has been positive. The facility is nicer than many I have been in. They put an effort into making the facility look nice and clean. The staff is more professional than in other facilities I have been in. One thing I particularly appreciate about Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community is that they provide more choices and freedom for their residents. The residents have the ability to get up as early or go to bed or as late as they want to without being discouraged by staff. They also offer more choices regarding meals. Many facilities have a set menu each day and other than that the residents can only choose sandwiches. That is not the case here. They have a larger menu of items that are available every day in addition to the daily menu. If I had to choose a facility to place my family members in this is the one I would choose.

I have visited this facility to see friends and neighbors staying there. It is the nicest retirement home I have ever visited. The staff is very gentle and helpful. I have seen residents out in public with care takers who go with them to do shopping, attend functions, etc. What I like most about this facility though is how they bring culture to the residents. Every year there is an art show in the main hall. Children's choirs from the community come perform. Sometimes, independent piano teachers have their students perform for the residents. There are a lot of homes out there where the resident's day is just sitting alone, watching TV, going to the mess hall. But here, there are things to do. They are treated like people, not patients. My only qualm is that this is an expensive place to live. Many families do not have the money to foot the bill. I wish they had scholarship programs like some boarding schools do.
