My tour to Atrium of Bellmead was good. The director was very nice. She took us right in. She went over everything. We went on a whole tour of the facility. She offered us that if we wanted to come eat we could do that. The only drawback to the nursing home, which for my dad wouldn't be a problem, was that they said that it's not a lock down. If you push the handle of the front door long enough it would unlock and the patient could walk out the door, but they've not had a problem about that. My dad doesn't wander, so I don't think it would be an issue, at least for now, but that was probably the only iffy part that we weren't sure about. The director was very thorough. She showed us through the facility and answered our questions. It was such a quick tour, not because of her, but because I had to get back to work. So, we couldn't stay for a long time and ask a lot of questions. The facility was very clean. She said they only had two private rooms in the whole facility. So, all of the other rooms were shared. We went to a room that was kind of set up like a model home room. They had two beds in it and it was very clean, but I would rather have my dad in a private room. They only had two private rooms, so that was a little disappointing, but the shared rooms had a curtain that you could pull between the two beds, kind of like being in a hospital, and each room had its own toilet and sink. It was good that they had no shower. They said they have their showers in a separate room because that's where most people fall, when they try to take a shower by themselves. So, that was nice.

Atrium of Bellmead was very nice. We really, really liked it, but they did not have a locked area for people with memory problems. The staff who gave the tour was very good. She was very nice and very informative, and she completely showed us around the place. We were actually sold on it, but they couldn't accept my mom because of the memory issue and not having a locked area. The rooms were very nice and very clean. It's a pretty new place, so it's in very good condition. They have a really big courtyard that they could walk in, and stuff that was enclosed.

After a fall and surgery for a hip fracture, I spent 5 weeks recovering and doing Occupational and Physical Therapy at the Atrium. The Physician’s Assistant visited me 3 times a week to check on healing and my meds. Nurses were always available. The skilled nursing staff was attentive and kindly. The OT and PT staff were outstanding. By the time I left, I regained almost all my mobility. The Business Office took care of all insurance issues for me. The Social Worker made sure I had the equipment and services I needed when I returned home. And staff coordinated all care so that all knew what my needs and status. were,,,so I did not need to repeat any concern.

I came to the Atrium for rehab after a hospital stay. The room was large and kept clean. The aides and nurses were attentative. The real gem though is the therapy department. I had both physical and occupational therapy. Each and every day the therapists were extremely encouraging and worked with me to attain the goals we had set for me. While they certainly challenged me in therapy they did so while being very attentive and aware of my body's healing process. There were times where I wanted to push myself more and they had enough farsight and genuine care to make sure I didn't so at the risk of my physical healing.

Atrium is closest to my mother's house. I like that my mother doesn't have to drive across town. She is 87 now so we were very interested in being close to her house. My mother goes up everyday and stays with Dad. It's a good facility, as good as all the rest of them in town so the nearness was a great factor. They take care of him and whenever we have a problem, they manage to fix it for us. Mother is very happy but Daddy is getting depressed there. He has Parkinson's and the doctor tells us that this is part of his disease.
