My mom was a resident of New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care. There's nothing that we disliked. We liked it immensely. It felt like home. My mom loved it even though she wasn't there very long. She thrived with what little bit that she had while she was there. It was a good place. The staff was wonderful. They were nice and considerate. They were amazing. The upkeep was nice. We didn't try the food, but it smelled really good. My mom pretty much had stopped eating, but they made her broth and stuff like that, and what little bit she could take down. She didn't complain or anything. We saw all the other people eating. We wanted to join in on some of it. It smelled amazing. They had a nice living space where they could sit and watch TV, and a dining area. They had where they could do puzzles and stuff like that. They had a wonderful area where they could just sit and read and look out in the backyard and stuff. It was just really nice.

New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care-Schertz was good and they could do double occupancy, which was nice. They had a movie night and they showed us the Sunday school service Bible study. They had an outside patio with a garden that everybody could come in, which was kind of nice. The rates were kind of high and it was small. It wasn't really big. There weren't a whole lot of people, but it was a nice facility. When we were there, the chef was preparing the meals. They had this big open area that had a big dining room, and he had the prep room, which was open. You can watch him cook there and there's a little bar around it. Kind of like a diner.

New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care-Schertz was like being at home. I was looking at the memory care there, and when you walked in, you felt like you were at your home in the way they've set it up. If you're looking for somebody in memory care, it was set up nicely. They seemed to have the equipment and different things people could do. Upkeep was very good.

I toured New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care-Schertz. It was good. The staff were all very nice. They knew what they were talking about. They were good. The rooms were kind of bleak though. They were small. The common area was nice. The grounds were OK, but nothing spectacular. I really didn't go out and look at the grounds, I just kind of looked through the window. They had a TV room, and that was the main thing about this place.

I thought that New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care - Schertz will be the best fit for my father. It's the most convenient location for us. I didn't have any negative things to say about the place. It's a smaller facility, and I like the fact that they have 24-hour staffing for any medical issues. It seems to be very organized as far as working on personal assistance for the residents, that they would have a timeframe and a calendar to go through. The employees were very helpful, if I had any questions after work hours, I was told that they would be available to answer any questions that popped up. It was very clean and there wasn't a lot of clutter. It was wide open for people that had different medical devices to get through them like walkers, or wheelchairs. Everything was laid out pretty well, even the rooms were easy to access. They had a person that comes in that does the salon, they offered activities and they have a calendar like they do exercise.

We liked that the New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care - Schertz was kind of a small facility. It was very much like a home with a lot of bedrooms. Everyone was very nice there. We liked the layout of the facility. The rooms were big enough. The thing that we didn't like was that they didn't have an enclosed yard area. They have a nice patio. The staff was very nice, but I think she was fairly new. She didn't seem knowledgeable because she knew nothing about the pricing. I don't think she was an administrative person at all. They had a small little kitchen that was nice with a microwave, a sink, a refrigerator, and a nice little counter.

New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care - Schertz is a smaller facility. It's not quite as open. It's an older facility. It's very clean. The people were very friendly. The only thing I didn't like about it was that the memory care wing was across the parking lot from the assisted living. There's no hallway or nothing connecting them. The memory care people have to be taken outside and across a parking lot to interact with other people. The rooms were clean. I was actually there at lunchtime, and the food looked amazing. The dining room was well lit. It's not huge, but big enough size for the number of residents that are in there. Their kitchens were basically in the center, so they could actually watch them cook. You could smell the food down the halls. There was no open concourse in the middle. The memory care had an enclosed porch patio. It was nice. I really wouldn't have a problem putting my father in there at all, but it was a little farther for us.

I like New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care, otherwise, we wouldn't go there, and my husband will be moving in there. It's got a nice outdoor, and it's got a nice sunny area. The rooms are really large. It has a nice huge bathroom. I like the people there, it seemed like a nice place for a short respite for my husband. The one who assisted me was very nice, and I like her. She even made a follow-up call, so I like her. The place was spotless, and it was very homey. I liked it because it only has 13 people there. It has a huge walk-in bathroom in his restroom.

New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care Schertz was beautiful and secure, but it cost more than what I'm already paying for my husband. The apartment was fine. I saw both their assisted living and memory care facilities. They had games, church, music, and they can go outdoors and still be secure. They had sitting rooms with TVs and TVs in their rooms as well. The staff was friendly and very cordial. The facility was very clean and very good looking.

New Haven was a very nice facility, but they're short staffed and very unorganized. They were not adequately making sure that all the medications were available for my father and they didn't have a good response time when he called them. The administrator went from being a CNA to an administrator. I don't think she had the knowledge or capability of being an administrator in that facility. She didn't have appropriate training. She was getting help from the nurse on how to run things. After my father had fallen a couple of times and had to be hospitalized for it, I felt he needed a better level of care. They play bingo and some people come in, but it didn't seem so lively there, which has a lot to do with their residents. The rooms were really nice, very roomy, and clean, even the bathrooms. They have a kitchen in the middle of the whole building as you walk in.

I didn't have any problem with New Haven. The appearance was great. The people seemed to care about what they're doing. The person during the tour was very nice. I saw where they feed the residents in a communal area. I liked it very much and liked what I saw.

New Haven was very nice. I like this facility the best. There wasn't anything I didn't like about it. It was my mother who made the choice that she would rather be in a nursing home because she didn't want to be in a room by herself. New Haven was assisted living, so they have apartments. My mother would have her own apartment. The staff was very nice. The atmosphere was very home-like. The lunch room for everybody was in the center of the building. They only have 15 units, and everybody has their own room, their own bathroom, their own small living area with television, refrigerator, microwave, and sink. It was like living in a little apartment. I would recommend this facility. They have the same activities as with the other facility.
