Independence Hill Retirement Community was very nice and our tour there was good. The lady was thorough. She showed me around and told me all about it. She was nice, friendly, and answered all my questions. The apartments were nice. They have a lot of social activities.

Independence Hill Retirement Community was good. What I saw was acceptable. I just didn't get a good feeling when I got there. I was not happy with the maintenance of the facilities. There are things that I saw that I didn't like. It's just a matter of personal preference. Everybody looked happy. The staff members were bright and alert. They could make things a little more pleasing to the eye.

I went to Independence Hill Retirement Community about three different times to look things over and see different possibilities. It's a pretty large place, so they've got a lot of different options. It took a while for me to digest all of that and finally find the right thing for me, and they were very patient and accommodating. They have a little kitchen or kitchenette, so there are a lot of different models. They have one-bedroom and two-bedroom options, so there are a variety of choices. They provide two meals a day. The staff listened and tried to address the concerns, and needs that I had. The food was fine and good.

We're seriously leaning toward Independence Hill Retirement Community. Diedrich gave us the tour, and he was fantastic, a born people person, just answered all my questions and answered a lot of stuff I didn't even ask. It was a very good experience. They have apartments right there in the main building, but you also have the option to have a cottage that is in a separate building that has wood-burning fireplaces. There are two-bedroom options. There's a one-bedroom with a study option. There are one-bedroom cottages as well. You can have all the amenities of the facility there, but you also are in a building separate from that if you don't want to be involved in all the activities. That was a selling point for me. The other lady was also very personable, brought us a bottle of water, and asked us if there was anything she could do. Everybody at the facility, residents and people that worked there, were very nice, smiling, and welcoming. Diedrich told us about the chef and explained to us about the menu. There's a lot of options as far as the menu was concerned. It was very, very clean. There was a room they were working on and nobody was living there at the time. The lady hadn't moved in yet. They were doing major construction, and she had granite countertops put in. It was very clean. I used the restroom and it was very clean. The dining room was very clean. It was immaculate.

The staff that we met at Independence Hill Retirement Community were very friendly, and welcoming, and gave a lot of great information. We were able to tour three different apartments, which were clean and very nice. They seemed to have a lot of activity and so it's a very nice place. Two of the apartments were a little bit updated. There was one that wasn't quite as updated and wasn't as nice, but it looks like they're kind of turning over and they were nice and spacious. They have nice kitchens and bathrooms. Everything's good. They have some areas for socializing.

We went to Independence Hill Retirement Community. I liked the fact that they have a lot of social activities. They seem to be very tuned into senior needs and making sure that they can encourage them to be involved in activities. They have an excellent menu and layout for everybody to socialize. They have very long serving staff members, and I think that makes a big difference when you're considering which communities that you want to put your family into because they've been there for a long time. They're very consistent, very knowledgeable staff, and that makes you feel that you can trust these people to take care of your parents. The staff was wonderful. I couldn't have been more pleased. I didn't really have very many questions because they provided me with so much information. We toured a couple of the models. They also took us around the facility and showed us all the different common areas that are available for my parents to enjoy. They had two libraries, a movie room, group exercises, they had activities, and they had a very professional calendar, like a little magazine that came out every month so that everybody knew what was going on. They could take their trips to the grocery store or other outings. It was very detailed. It was easy for people to plan their days and their weeks. Everything about it was great. It's probably the oldest facility that I've looked at, but it was still very nice, and it wouldn't keep me from using them. They're very much one of my considerations. We looked at the menus, and they offer a good standard menu, and then they have the daily specials, and they all looked wonderful. It was a very nice layout. The activities were in different levels and there were activities on one side of the building, and there were activities on the other side of the building, so you're not having to walk too far. We didn't want my parents having to walk across the street, so we didn't look at the cottage apartments, which would have been a nice option, because they were bigger, but the layout for the main building was done very well.

I toured Independence Hill Retirement Community. The amenities were great. The rooms, the room size, and the kitchenette in the room were fabulous. The layout of the rooms was great. The staff were great. They were very helpful and very informative. They had been there a long time. They had a theater, a koi pond, and laundry services. It was a well-laid-out facility. We ran into residents on the elevator, and they were just offering how much they enjoyed living there, which was nice. The community is huge. It's 35 acres in the middle of town. They have every type of accommodation.

I went to Independence Hill Retirement Community. The man said they would be serving lunch, but they didn't. They serve two meals a day, which is morning and night. They had everything there that's necessary. The apartments were nice and clean. The staff was very nice. They had a nice handout. I saw some people doing their exercises. She showed me the library, the books, and the bridge place. They also go on trips. I'm not sure it's for me, but I think it's a very nice place.

I thought that Independence Hill Retirement Community was really good. It's one of my father's top two choices, and my father was the one that had chosen it, and so it's really kind of what he decided. I like that they had given us the opportunity for some discounts, and the facilities really, really looked nice. The staff who helped us during the tour was very helpful. The facility was very clean, but at the time, it was more of the overall impression.

We visited Independence Hill and we think it's a nice place. Everybody was friendly and the apartments were very nice and roomy. I didn't see any activities, but I read the list, and they have a variety of activities that would be good. The dining room was very large, it's very nice, and they kept it clean. The facility was well-maintained and clean too.

My dad moved into Independence Hill a week ago. It's great. It's a good facility. They are taking good care of him. I like the level of care there. The staff members are great. The facility is very nice, and I feel comfortable with him being there. They keep an eye on him. They're always checking on him and they go above and beyond to try to help him. The location is good. He likes the food, too.

My mother will be moving into Independence Hill Retirement Community. I like it. It looked like an apartment complex, very clean on the inside, and very homey. The staff member during the tour was good and very helpful. The dining area was very large, and the food we ate was fabulous. They had a lot of activities like theaters, outings, music, and a choir.

My parents moved to Independence Hill over a year ago after searching numerous retirement properties. During their search, they fell in love with the friendly environment and comfortable surroundings of IH. The apartments are spacious, the food is great, the staff is amazing, and the activities are abundant. We had high expectations, and IH continues to meet and exceed those expectations. We are very appreciative to be a part of the IH community. Thank you!

The staff at Independence Hill Retirement Community was friendly. The residents that I met were happy and friendly, and they were complimentary about their accommodations. There seemed to be a lot of activities that I could participate in. It was clean and up-to-date. My dad had lived there some years ago, and it had been kept up. I'm just looking forward to moving in there.

I liked the location of Independence Hill because it was easy for me to find. The facility itself was a beautiful building with beautiful grounds. What they were offering were activities, your 3 meals, and short excursions to small towns in and around San Antonio. You just stand in front of the front desk, and the staff would snap to attention. I got to meet the young man who was out front -- Tommy -- and he would snap fingers for someone to come to the front and see what I needed done. In comparison with other facilities, it was complete the way it was.

We like Independence Hill. My mother-in-law has been there for six years. I can’t say enough about it; it’s very vacation-like. You can have an independent house, be in the apartment complex, or in the buildings like she is. The restaurant has three meals a day, and housekeeping is wonderful. They have a swimming pool, movie theater, billiards, library, fitness room, and a salon.

We like Independence Hill. We like the location. It was very close to where we used to have our other house. It was a little bit different because it was older, but I liked what I saw. The apartment was nicely laid out. The food and the activities looked good. The staff was OK. However, if I have to be on the waiting list, it could be four to six months, they said, so that's the downside there.

The decision to move my mother to assisted living was a difficult challenge for our family but can tell you I wish we would have made the decision a year earlier. My mother has thrived at Independence Hill Assisted Living. She regularly participates in crafts and activities that are cleverly designed for the residents! She also frequently attends resident excursions several times a month. However, the biggest compliment I can list for Independence Hill Assisted Living is that ALL the staff work to help my mother daily from the administration, to the dining room, to the care givers. I would rate them 5 stars in every category as I could not find a more caring and sincere staff.

Excellent facility with wonderful activities and superior staff. The care my relative receives is far beyond what I expected and hoped for. At 98, my relative is in need of extra care and I am confident that she is getting more than I am paying for.

My children thought Independence Hill might be a good one because I had been sick and it could be a good one for me to be in for a while. I've been here for two and half months now. I got a nice 2-bedroom apartment. They have the most fantastic food I've ever had in my entire life. It is super good. The joke is I may have to move out of here because I'm gaining weight. I have not participated in activities because I have been sickly, but they have a bit of everything, like tours and swimming. I like the nice dining room. I would recommend this to others.

I've been to Independence Hill a couple of times. It was upscale and was really nice. I get mail from them all the time inviting me to social activities. They had a wide range of services, as the name implies from a good deal independent living place. If I remember right, they also had individual houses as well as rooms or apartments. They also have continuum of care, so that you could go from independent living to assisted living, and I think even to nursing home care. The rooms were very nice. They had some pretty good size rooms. I like the friendly demeanor of the people who live there. Not the staff, but the very nice folks. I met a number of them. It has a very good social environment. You got everything you need there.

My dad lived in the assisted living facility of Independence Hill for four years. They were fabulous. I'd give them a five on any category, except for the food, which was probably a four. The meals were fine.
