My dad moved into assisted living about a month ago. It looks a lot like a small college campus. The residents have their private rooms, some have private baths and showers in their room, but my dad's room only has a bathroom and a sink. To go for a shower, he has to go down the hallway a little bit. A very little bit, actually since it's right next to his room. It's quaint, clean, and nice. His room has a microwave and a cable TV box, and if you want to put a TV in it, they'll mount it for you. It's big enough for a king bed but my dad only wanted a twin, so it still has plenty of room for everything he has. They assist him with shaving, with his showers, and reminders for things like the lunch being served. They have social activities daily on Fridays. They have a little happy hour for the residents too, but my father doesn't drink. They have a nice little dining area. It's kind of small so they have an extended dining time so everybody doesn't have to get there at the same moment. I've never been there for any of the activities but from what my father tells me, he enjoys it and he enjoys his stay there.

I toured Graceland at Garden Ridge. I didn't like that they had no showers in each room, and the gates didn't seem secure. It's not furnished, so you have to bring in your furniture and your medical supplies, like a hospital bed, which is hard to do. The staff was very knowledgeable. They do not do any kind of wound care or medical stuff. If you need physical therapy, you've got to have it from an outside source.

Graceland at Garden Ridge was good. There was a slight smell, but it wasn't anything that would deter us. While we were there, they were painting. It's very, very nice to see that they're taking care of their facility. I like that. I met the director of the program and the tour lady, and the fact that he came out to talk to us was I thought impressive. The director was wonderful. They had a big common area, a courtyard, a salon, and a place to watch TV.

The staff at Graceland at Garden Ridge was good, but the facility looked like it was a little old and rundown. Half of it wasn't in use, which had me kind of concerned. They showed me some rooms. They weren't as nice as the other. The staff person that gave the tour was good and nice. It was an EMT/caregiver. They had a courtyard. Half of it was closed down. So there wasn't anybody in that half of the courtyard area. It's kind of like a V shape, so the left-hand side of the V was in use. The right-hand side was vacant, except for that one resident there. They provided laundry. I saw a laundry room. I think I did not see as much in Graceland at Garden Ridge, because I was kind of not impressed.

This facility when it was Sodalis was great. Now that New Haven has taken over it's awful. The turnaround of staff is disturbing to say the least. You can never locate staff members and that is so disturbing and unsafe for residents. It shows as many residents are leaving the facility. Good luck with housekeeping. Good luck with your family members being showered and cared for. Very few to no activities. No one answers the phone. Save yourself heartache and look elsewhere.

It was the first tour I did. They were great. They were extremely welcoming and extremely helpful. It was fabulous. The staff who toured us was very nice and very helpful. I could tell he wants his residents to feel like they're at home and the families to feel that they're being well taken care of like he would take care of his own mom. The rooms were nice. They had a TV and a little refrigerator for them. They were a good size and easy for the residents. The dining area was very open. It was right at the front of the building. They were all in there because they were doing an ice cream sundae thing. Everyone looked to be having a good time. It was a very open and easy-to-maneuver area. I appreciate the attitude that they have. The gentleman that did the tour was very specific about what they're looking for as far as looking around and making sure that a resident is eating not just pushing food around on their plate that makes it look like they're eating. He makes a point of checking on them individually to make sure that they're not hiding in their rooms because they just don't want to be out with people, but they're actively engaged. And I thought that was a great attitude and I appreciated that. In addition, after I was introduced as we did our tour, the staff came by the office and invited me to join them for the ice cream sundaes and whatnot and offered if I wanted one, and I thought that was very nice.

My mother-in-law liked it but I did not. The kitchen looked terrible and dirty. I didn't see one person milling about. It was like a bunch of big common spaces, but nobody was in them. We saw three different rooms, and we liked them. They had a nice outdoor setting with big oak trees in the back. They had nice patios with deer coming up to the patios and bird feeders, so that was nice. The guy who showed us around was great.

My friend is here and it's good. They're kind, and they're always attentive. She says the food is good. We hadn't been there that long. I know they do have activities for them. The staff act like they cared. The place is nice. Her room is nice. It had a refrigerator and a microwave if they want to heat something. It gave them a choice. You don't need much when you're in there because you can get out and do stuff.

It was very nice and they seem to know what to do with people who have Alzheimer's. Their rooms and staff was wonderful, they seem to know exactly what to do. Everything looked very nice and clean. The staff seemed to know how to be able to deal with all the residents that needed care. It was their caring staff that made all the difference.

It is very nice and very clean. I talked with the residents and they like it. My mother is enjoying the way that they treat her. They serve three meals a day, they offer laundry services, they have a salon, and they provide help with medications. The staff is very friendly and very helpful.

My mom is in here and it's very good, and we like it. They have bingo, Bible study, art classes, and trips to Walmart. Everybody is super nice and seem to really care about the residents. The food is good, and Mom likes it. The place is very clean and everybody has a private room, so that's another bonus. The dining room is good and very nice.

My parents have been in here for a couple of months. It's finally starting work out now as they are getting adjusted to the place. We like it because it's small. We also like the people that we met with. They are ready to take over the responsibility to take care of my parents, which is what I needed. My parents have had some complaints about the food, but I think it's just that they don’t care for everything that is being offered. When you have a large number of people that you are going to feed, you are not going to please everybody. The chef that they have there does a great job with breakfast. He customizes whatever the people want for breakfast. They also have plenty of substitutions that they can have if they don’t like the main course. With their sanitation, I think they come in twice a week, and they take care of everything.
