My mother moved into Emerald Oaks Retirement Resort. They don't offer a level of care. I promised her I would not put her in a nursing home, and I did not. I put her in a resort retirement community. They give them Life Alert buttons, and that's it. She is now in hospice but we're doing fine. Emerald Oaks is beautiful. It reminds me of a cruise ship. It has a main street, a bank, a salon, and a library. It has a restaurant, and they provide three meals a day for the people who live here. They take them on a bus to Target and Wal-Mart. They take them on a bus to their doctor's appointments and wherever they want to go. Food is good. My mother is used to more spices, but their food is a little generic for her taste. She likes a little more flavor to her food whereas a lot of the people that are here, spices upset their stomach and stuff, so they don't use a lot of spices. But the food is decent. The staff are amazing. They are so warm and welcoming. All you have to do is call them, and they do anything you need them to do. They help in any way they can. It's just wonderful. They have a lot of activities. They have a gym, a movie theater, a resource center, an arcade, and a little grocery store. My mother doesn't need to leave the facility if she doesn't want to. They've all greeted my mother. They've invited her to dinner. They've invited her out. It's wonderful. They're a wonderful community. They have games, happy hour, and sing-alongs. They have vendors who come in and offer their goods for Christmas or whatever. You don't have to go out and shop for Christmas if you don't want to.

I went to Emerald Oaks. They have lots of activities for seniors. They serve good food. The staff was very friendly. Their facilities were clean. The sizes of the rooms were good and the layout was nice. All the residents seemed like they were very happy.

The tour at Emerald Oaks was very nice. The facility was up-to-date and modern. They had lots of activities and things that I'd be interested in. The only problem is that it's pretty expensive. They had a central office and dining room area with two wings. It's a two-story. The staff was extremely nice, very informative, and professional. There was a patio.

I like my tour of the Emerald Oaks, and the staff I liked the best. They didn't have a pool, but we probably would have gone there except for the fact that they did not have any room. The employees were very friendly, they were just like family. We've tried the food once, their iced tea was one of the best but the food could be a bit better. In terms of the facilities, they were the best of everybody that we looked at because they had everything. They had a lot of organized activities and they were very excited about them. We talked to the people there while having lunch, and they were excited about the place. They enjoyed living there because there is a lot to do and the people were very friendly. They had an amazing theater, it was like going to an actual theater. They also had a nice dining area, but I didn't see much courtyard space or outside area. It's located close enough to many things, it's just a hop, skip, and jump to wherever.

My dad is a resident of Emerald Oaks. It's not exactly the most beautiful rooms, but they're adequate, nice enough, and spacious. But the staff is just fabulous. They all just love working there and they like working with the elderly. And they've been very helpful. When my dad was sick and I had to go get him and take him to the hospital, they had him waiting for me at the front door when I got there. The food is really good. They have a very personable chef. He greets my dad in the morning, "Hey, Bob. You want your usual omelet?" He knows exactly what he wants. My dad talked to him when he first got there, and he said, "you know, you're cooking these vegetables too much. They're too mushy." And so, he fixed that. I've eaten there several times. We just had a party for 27 family members for my dad's 90th birthday. And they served the food and provided for 27 family members. They have great entertainment. One night a month they'll have a location-based theme for their evening. One night they had Hawaii, and so they show a film about Hawaii in the theater, they had four hula dancers perform, and then they go and had dinner of Hawaiian cuisine. They did another one on Brazil, too. So, every month they do a different one. They have a lot of different entertainment things that are going on there all the time and the residents all seem to love it. The rooms are average, but the main areas are really pretty. It's patterned after a cruise ship so they try to provide entertainment like a cruise ship. They have ice cream machines 24 hours a day like cruise ships. And they have snacks out 24 hours a day, juice, coffee, and things like that. Even if it's not mealtime, they can go down at midnight and get a sandwich, hard-boiled eggs, some pudding, Jell-o, or cookies. They were playing wee bowling in there when we were having my dad's birthday party and they were having a blast. They play cornhole and bingo. They always have something going on. They bring people in and do different types of music presentations. And they have an antique car show, where they bring their cars to the facility for the people. They bring in different animals, like dogs, for the residents to pet. Every time I go over there, there's something. They have people in the hall selling jewelry and different crafts and things. They have crafts for the residents and puzzle rooms. They do not have a swimming pool, but they have everything else that I could think of that older people would want to do. It's not the cheapest place, but it's worth it.

I would rate 5 stars for everything for Emerald Oaks because they're seriously top-notch. They have all the same amenities, but they had a yard that people could fence off a little portion for their dog. The residents that live there are all super friendly. I would feel like my mom wouldn't be lonely there. Everyone was super social and super nice. They talked to me, and they joked with the gentleman who was giving the tour. They provide all of the meals, three meals a day, and they even have more options. You could get room service. They have a library, a theater, and a place where they can play games. The staff is amazing.

I was looking for cottages, and Emerald Oaks didn't have them; they're all apartments. The staff member who showed me around was very nice and lives in the facility. I saw a few residents sitting around and playing cards in the recreation room. It's a very nice and clean facility, and it's like living in a nice hotel.

I have moved into Emerald Oaks. It is beautiful, open, and has a lot of light to it. I like the colors, which are very cheerful. The staff is excellent. The food is wonderful. The service is complete. They provide everything you need. They have activities going on 24/7 almost and always have entertainment at night. They have regular exercise program, concerts, games, card games, and dominoes. Once a week, they have therapy dogs come in. You can be occupied from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. if you wanted to be. I'm in a two-bedroom apartment that is approximately 1,100 square feet. I have a bedroom, an office, and a combination of living room and kitchen. I looked at six different places, and this is by far the best I have seen. The staff is all friendly, helpful, and hard working. They know you by name. They have chef-prepared meals three times a day; I'm actually gaining weight. It is a little bit pricey, but it is worth it.

Emerald Oaks was very nice. I liked that the laundry was inside the apartment. It was very spacious. The food was excellent. They invited us for lunch, and the dining area looked very good. The person that assisted me was very nice. She was trying to accommodate everything and asked the residents what things they like to do and what they want. They have a pool, play cards and dominos, have a beauty salon and a barber, and they even have something for the dogs.

Emerald Oaks was very nice. The lady who showed me around was very pleasant. She showed me just about everything and answered every question that I had. She took me up to an apartment and showed me the dining facility. It looked like everything was fairly new; if it wasn’t, it was kept up very well. I know they have a computer room. I just talked to the one person, but it seemed like they pretty well knew the business.

Emerald Oaks was an independent living community. It had tons of amenities. The apartments were on a nice size. The management seemed very caring. There were a lot of activities for the senior to do. Their dining facility looked wonderful. They had transportation services. I liked the facility overall -- the way it was run and all the activities that they had to offer.

Emerald Oaks is off the charts. It is set up like a cruise ship. They have live entertainment. Their dining facility is already set up like a banquet room, but then they leave a space on the floor for people to dance. They also have the chef in the kitchen, so anything you did not want to eat from the regular schedule, you could order it. With them, if you did not feel like coming downstairs from your room, you could call your order in and they would deliver it to your room. They have an exercise room, a whirlpool tub, and a fitness room. If people want to get into the whirlpool after they finish their exercising, they could.

Emerald Oaks is perfect and exactly what I was looking for my dad. The gentleman I spoke with let me know that there was independent living. They had downstairs apartment that had a patio, and my dad was way better than expected. He is doing great. I looked at him during my last visit, and I said you are not the same person. There are activities, but he just likes being on the porch; there’s a green space, and one of the tenants had put a deer blind back there, and people walk their dogs. The customer service was way out of our expectation. They are not only nice; they go above and beyond which is phenomenal. A few weeks we stayed there, and they had a room for their guest. They give you meal tickets, and you can buy meals. The salon, the medical team, and the concierge are great. They have a huge patio that overlooks the green space and a huge theatre room. They have a bar where the residents can put their own drinks, popcorn, and ice cream. The residents seemed happy.

Emerald Oaks is new, and the people are younger and looking to make new friends. It's better and costs less than what we found everywhere else. It’s well maintained and offers a full kitchen. The food is excellent as per my uncle. The chef comes out every day to talk with the residents to see what they like and don’t like, and they’ll make anything they ask for. There’s food service 24/7 with room service 24/7 free of charge.

Emerald Oaks is a new, impressive, beautiful community. They gave us the tour and we met some of the staff members, who were very pleasant at that time. They had a nice facility with a beauty shop on premises. When you walk in, there's a stone waterfall that was very peaceful. Their food was pretty good. I visited my friend's apartment and saw their laundry room and the other facilities. Some of the rooms had washing machines and dryers in them and some did not. I was very impressed with the apartments. The main problem I found was the distance from my family and from shopping. There isn't much there, at least not yet. They have a movie theater, so they have movies. I think they need to have better transportation. Their transportation is not as good as ours, which I found out from friends that I talked to who live there. Transportation is the one problem over there. If you don't need to go any place or your family is close by, it would be perfect. Things could improve over time with the transportation; at least, I would hope so. And with them, you can only go to the doctors on Tuesdays or Thursdays. They don't go five days a week, so that could be a problem for some people that have to go more often.

I took my mother to Emerald Oaks, and we toured it. She hasn't moved in, but we're very happy with the whole introduction to it and what they offered us for the price and everything she is getting. She is moving into a brand new place and she is very receptive of it. We went and ate brunch there last Sunday, and it was very good -- good portion but not over the top. We went back today to rent her unit and had lunch again, and it was excellent. The residents were all walking around saying we're going to be so happy here and that this is a great place. Everyone I've come in contact with has been great.

We visited Emerald Oaks, which is a new establishment. They just opened up in June. We were very impressed with them. They were brand new. They had plenty of apartments. They were very friendly. They really treated us right. It was comparable with the other facility except Emerald Oaks paid for everything, and there was no extra fee of any type or shape. They have garages available. They have some few extra things including three meals a day, which was nice. They have several open apartments. We were impressed with it. Plus, they have a nice view up on the third floor. Of all the communities we went to, we were most pleased with Emerald Oaks. They had a lot of activities, but the thing is, it was a brand new facility, so they haven't gotten everything up and running yet. However, what they had listed would be favorable to us. The staff was amazing. They were friendly. They went out of the way to help us out in more ways than I can tell you.

What is included in the amount of rent? Cleanliness of facilities. Just things that you would want to be nice for your family member to have or do.
