Brookdale Medical Center Whitby is pretty patient with my mom. They seemed to know what they were doing. They communicate with me and call me very often. I don't have to worry about her all the time. The rooms are very nice. They don't smell like urine like other places have. They're moving her to her own room where they're redoing the bathrooms and it is great. They watch their residents thoroughly. Everything is very nice. They even have a grandparent's afternoon, like a little gathering, and it was very sweet.

I like Brookdale Medical Center Whitby. What I liked most about the tour was Glinda. She was the lady that showed me around. She already had paperwork drawn up with all of the information that I needed. When I got there, she took me into a room and sat me down. She was very intentional about her concerns, so I was very impressed with her with that. The facility was smaller, but it wasn't so small that you felt cramped. It was just a perfect size. She took me around and she introduced me to a lot of the employees that were there. So for me, that was my first pick. The staff asked all the right questions. She was genuinely concerned. You could just tell she had a passion for what she was doing for her job. I arrived at noon, and all the residents were having lunch and it smelled delicious. The dining room was full. Everybody was in there eating, so it must have been good. For amenities, they had a salon, a library, a media room, an area they could go to if they wanted to do some indoor exercise, and then out back, they had a walking trail. They have a group of people that walk together every morning on this trail.

I like the size of Brookdale Medical Center Whitby. It's assisted living and it wasn't too large. The staff was good, it's very clean, and I just liked the whole vibe. The staff greeted me, they even met my mom and they tried to help. They showed me their amenities but I wasn't so overly interested in that. I don't think my mom's really going to participate for a while, but I would hope so. They showed me around very well and they showed me how secure it is. That was the main thing I really loved. It was really a nice setup, I really liked it. They showed me a 1-bedroom, I thought it was set up very nicely. The lighting was nice too. The staff was very, very helpful and encouraging. They explained my mom's condition, they were like, "We see the behaviors that they do all the time." At first, I was unsure, but when I talked to them a little bit more, they reassure me that her behavior is not unusual to them and that they are fine with her behavior even though it's kind of bad. They said they can handle her. I thought the residents I saw were actually pretty good. I can tell some of them had all the deficiencies that they possibly had but they looked pretty good. I saw a couple of family members there helping them. I thought it was good just sitting, talking, and engaging with them.

I went to Brookdale Medical Center Whitby. It was OK. I didn't like the fact that the memory care residents and the assisted living were combined. We saw wandering patients and I didn't feel that was good for somebody first going into assisted living. They're doing the renovations, that's nothing against them because they're improving. I only talked to two friendly people. They offered movie night and game night, and they offered to transport them to H-E-B which is not even a block away, and I wasn't happy about that because the destination was not -- it didn't seem like they offered to go anywhere else.

We picked Brookdale Medical Center Whitby for my uncle. They've been great. They have helped us so much getting him moved in and getting him settled and helping with the doctor appointments because he can't get out to go to the doctor's offices. They've really helped us with everything. They have a clinic that they work with so that he can get his Coumadin checkups or bloodwork down there, and he doesn't have to go into the Coumadin Clinic. They have connected his phone line, his television line, and they went in and got everything set up. They have already helped with some of the doctor phone visits. The staff has all been great and helped me out. The activity people, the physical therapists, the nursing staff are wonderful. I haven't really talked to my uncle about the food, but he seems to be fine with it because he hasn't complained because he definitely would've complained if it wasn't. It's an older place, but they really have it very clean. I've only been able to go in to get his apartment set up, so I haven't been able to walk around inside the place, but it's very clean looking. I saw an activity when I was waiting outside, and that was very impressive. They were having a little happy hour and they invited him on his very first day and he did go, so that was great too.

I visited Brookdale Medical Center Whitby for my mother. It was nice. I like the place, the location and the rooms, but once again, they did not have a memory care area. I visited it twice, and it seemed nice.

The staff who accommodated me during my visit at Brookdale Medical Center Whitby was very nice and helpful. In fact, she called me back to see how things are. It was a very good visit, but to me the place looked more like a nursing home.

I visited Brookdale at Medical Center Whitby, and they were nice except that they don’t have the transportation that we will need. The place was very attractive. They have a large one bedroom. They also have a beautiful courtyard. They have an exercise room, and they also said they have physical therapy seven days a week, which my mother will need.

Just wanted to say, the director and all the staff members of this facility were awesome in caring for my father during the past 3 years of his residence at Sterling House. They took excellent care of him and the family throughout the last stages of his progressive Alzheimer's disease, including his dementia mood swings which were very overwhelming at times, continuously caring for him with their diligence and respect, especially towards the end of his demise which occurred very recently. They became our second family and I want to thank you so much for everything, staff members. We couldn't have done this without you.

My dad enjoyed his time at Serling House for so many reasons. The staff took a genuine interest in him, conversing with him about basebal, his dog, and his family, weekly Communion service, happy hour at the facility, monthly luncheons at restaurants, and gave him a true sense of belonging and safety. He brought his dog to live with him and enjoyed the huge enclosed garden area. He loved having a key to his own "apartment" making him feel more independent. For me, it provided a level of professional care for him that was second to none! The director was always available for questions via person, email or telephone, the nurse kept in contact with the doctor and I just loved the caring, compassionate and proficient staff. I have recommended Sterling House at the Medical Center to SO many people.

I just visited the community and it is beautiful. Just been painted, new carpet and told furniture on its way. When walking around the care staff introduced themselves and asked about my friend. This was first place I even spoke to a care staff. Very homey which I know my friend will like. This will be first stop to show my friend. Had everything I was looking for. Met Executive Director and even though obvious she was busy I was treated with her full attention. She was very professional, friendly and I felt she truly cared about what I was saying.

I recently visited the community which is almost complete with a renovation and it is beautiful. When walking around staff came up introduced themselves asked who I was looking for then ask questions and told me all they would do. In visiting other places I only spoke with the marketing person and Executive Director so was very impressed the care staff took the time to meet me and find out about my mom. I can't talk my mom into moving right now but will sure take her here before any other place. The people living there were all nice and much to my surprise the women had make up on.

I have a friend that lives at Sterling House. The staff are wonderful, loving and caring. It is exciting as the inside is being completely re-done and is updated and beautiful. My friend said she likes the updates but the wonderful staff and care she receives is what is important to her. I visit several times per week and would recommend Sterling House to everyone.

Sterling House was the least favorable amongst the facilities we visited. The staff was very nice and the facility was clean but it just wasn't really updated. The inside of the facility itself looked old and not as modern. They need to update it a little bit. I would not probably recommend this facility just for the looks of it.
