My mother's husband has moved into Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley. What I like best is the level of care and the encouragement of the person in the home to follow his schedule and get up and try and do more for himself. I have only met one staff member and she is phenomenal. She has gotten him out of bed and out of his room, which my mother was unable to do in the past four years. The facility is all ground floor that encircles two separate courtyards and has mature oaks and grass. They have grills out there. They have a garden club and bird feeders. It's an oasis. The reason I picked Brookdale is when you walk in, it is clean and fresh. The color scheme is welcoming. There are several large, welcoming, well-lit natural light gathering areas for residents or visitors to sit. They have on staff beauty and barber. There are several clubs and weekly activities. It smelled good. You could not tell that there were many assisted seniors in the building.

We toured Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley. It was very clean. It was a very calm environment. The patio was clean and well-kept. The rooms were nice. I was impressed with the size because that's what we were looking for. The staff was very helpful. I met the person who would talk mainly when you walk in at the front desk, very helpful and very patient also because they knew it wasn't going to be a quick move-in. They were able to give me all the paperwork, but we still need to get their financial information. They're very patient, offering whatever services they can, and even had the nurse come by and visit my parents and we got his assessment. We just need to get a formal assessment.

We chose Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley because the community was just very, very conducive to what we believed Mom needed. She reacted very positively to the caretakers and to the other members of the community. She's already made a couple of friends that talk to her on a regular basis. She's coming back to her old self from where she was before, because she was not happy at the previous community she was in, which is why we wanted to move her. She just seems to be so much happier here at Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley. The staff is amazing and incredibly personable. I've met the executive director, the sales person, the finance people, and all of the caretaking staff, and you get this very family feel from that place. It's very warm and inviting, and they seem to know everybody even though it's not a small community. It's just really amazing to watch them all work together. I was there when Mom was fed and tasted one of the desserts, and the food was amazing. To me, it's restaurant quality. It was really good. The options were great. They have constant activities going on throughout the day in the memory care and one of the things that I found very, very, attractive about that location was that they have what they call happy hour. So, they might have an entertainer come in for the group and they'll bring the memory care side people over to the AL side and that's where they'll enjoy. I think they did something for Easter where they had the Easter Bunny and people brought their grandchildren over to meet with the people that were there. They do quite a lot more than most places that I've been to.

I love the layout of the rooms that Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley had. It's amazing how the accommodations were beautiful. What I liked most about this place was it's all on one level. I love the space. It's only 410 square feet, but it just seems a whole lot bigger when you walk in. It didn't feel small, even though it is small. They have two types of rooms. They have one room that doesn't have a walk-out and another one that has a walk-out into the courtyard and you have the option of enclosing it. So, you can walk away from that back door right into the courtyard. That was amazing. The front door is inside the building. It's a nice long corridor. The facility was easy to remember. It's a rectangle, so you really can't get lost. It's nice. They have a wonderful library, too. Everything they have is pretty much updated. You can step right into the shower easily, not having any problems as far as trying to get in by yourself. I like that it also has benches that you can actually sit on to have your shower. They showed me one room that had wonderful tiles in the bathroom (the lady gave a disclaimer that some rooms only have all white as opposed to stone-looking tiles on the inside). So, it was nice to see a variety. They had shown me a nice amount of shelving for you in the bathroom. It was just quaint. As for the staff, they have the right representative walking around to show you the area. They even made an apple pie for us.

We visited Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley. The staff all seem to be positive and probably the best you could find. They were all dedicated and were all pretty much long-term workers. It was more modern. It has the basic fireplace in the regular dining room. I thought that the memory care people didn't care because they can't remember anything, I thought. It was beautiful and it's a modern-style building. They have their own chef. I have to say the food was excellent. I've never had better food anywhere. They offer food choices. It was smaller in the memory care area. It was nice. I just experienced the regular dining area, that's where we ate, which is large with a big fireplace. The memory care was a smaller room, but it was nice. They do not have too many memory care patients there. We only saw the front grounds as we went in, and it was well-kept. They offered a lot of activities. While we were there, many of the residents were watching a movie. They offered arts and crafts, and regular opportunities. In the memory care, they did show us a bedroom set up and there was a lady who was watching a movie at the time. She had a stack of books on her bedtable that her family had provided in case she wanted to read. I don't know if she was able to read or not, but there is that opportunity that was there. So, I believe they give their residents all kinds of different opportunities. The people who are living there can go out and make some decisions. They have caregivers who will go out to a store to help them if they want to buy things for special occasions. So, they're very flexible. It's a modern design, and I'm not crazy about the way the bedrooms are designed. They didn't have any single rooms; they were all double rooms. They could put a single person in there, but it costs a lot more because that other part of the room isn't being used. Also, the way the room is set up, I wasn't crazy about it. They probably have enough closet space, but I wasn't sure about that for both patients. They encourage the doubles. But they did say if somebody wanted or needed a single, it could be done, but it costs a lot more.

What I liked most about Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley was they were doing a group project and they all seemed to interact with their residents real good. So, I saw a lot of interaction with the crowd. The woman who took me around was friendly, pleasant, and very informative. The apartments were spacious and clean. The dining area was nice, organized, and spacious as well. The outdoor areas were well-maintained.

By looking at Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley's programs, the activities they had for the residents, plus the attitude of the staff, all those came up positive for this facility. The staff had a good attitude and they seemed to be attentive to the residents. So, I feel that they would take care of my husband while he was there. The food was very good. The place was very clean and they had nice-sized rooms. The bathrooms were resident-friendly. They were ADA-capable.

Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley was excellent. It was clean and very modern. The staff was wonderful. The food was restaurant quality. It's incredible. We had a couple meals there. Based on what I saw, it's an excellent facility all the way around. The rooms were spacious and decorated nicely. Everything was modern. The staff was very friendly. She did everything she could to assist us and made us feel welcome. She was very attentive and very helpful. The first time we visited, they sent us home with the most amazing apple pie you've ever had in your life. We went back for another tour, and they gave us lunch. It's truly incredible. The dining area was like a very nice restaurant. Everything was clean and modern. You have a lot of choices on the menu. Everything was spotless. They have a beautiful facility. They have some basic activities, religious services, and things like that.

One of the hardest things I've EVER had to do was to leave my husband, of 38 years, in a nursing facility. He started off in the Assisted Living section mainly because I believe I was in denial of his condition. Thought he could do so much more for himself. But just after a whirlwind 3-4 weeks, it was obvious he needed much more assistance than I realized. So, off we went to the Memory Care section. Best move EVER. Can't say the care is "better" in this part of the facility, but because he is in Memory Care he receives a lot more immediate care and attention. It's not the cheapest place, but then the old saying is true - you get what you pay for! I'm happy we chose Brookdale for him - guess I'll end up here too someday.

Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley had larger accommodations. It was certainly adequate. The environment was very clean. It felt like more of a facility and not a community. They really were not subpar in any way. It was more a subjective feeling that I had about how the environment matched the couple that will live there. The staff was very personable and welcoming. They gave good information. There was no shortcoming on that part. The facilities all seemed pretty adequate. They had activities. The dining room was nice. There was a courtyard. There was a beautifully lit sitting area with a huge skylight in it, so it was very bright. The place was very clean.

My father is at Brookdale Medical Center. I thought the executive director and the girl that signs you up were very positive and easy to work with. They're just really good people. The nursing staff has been very accommodating, and they're doing a great job. They provide transportation for doctors' appointments, three meals a day, housekeeping, and laundry services. We're very happy at this point.

My mom lived in the memory care section for almost 10 months. The first couple of months went well, but things went down hill quickly. They stopped bathing her, brushing her teeth and her room began to smell like urine. I asked many times for someone to take care of these basic needs, but nothing changed. The staff left my mom in a wooden chair in the living room all day, every day. This wore a bald spot on her head and left an indentation as well. During the last 7 months she fell 8 times. Nothing was done after any fall to prevent another one. The last fall left the entire side of her faced bruised. Ken, who is suppose to be In charge of care plans never made an effort to implement any changes to prevent her falls. His attitude was unprofessional, offensive and aggressive. I told Debbie, the executive director that I didn't feel safe leaving my mom there any longer, but she still wouldn't waive the 30 day move out notice. Debbie and Ken had no empathy for my mom. I would not recommend this location to anyone. I ended up finding a much higher quality home that ended up costing over $1,000 less per month.

We toured Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley with the manager, who showed us the community. We found a room that really met all the needs of my grandmother. There must be an exterior door to the courtyard, so she has access to the outside yet is in a safe environment. This was one of the major reasons we chose to go there, along with meeting with their lead nurse, who was more than helpful in giving us an overview of what would happen on her first days or weeks and has helped us overcome any concerns we have about the community. I liked the interactivity of the employees with the residents, the layout and the furnishings in the common areas, and the availability of the room that we want.

Brookdale is very nice, clean, and it has a swimming pool. The rooms have fresh paint, and fresh carpet. Also a full-kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. I liked that one best.

I visited Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley (formerly Emeritus at Kingsley Place Medical Center), and everything was clean and pleasant. The people were walking around, and it seemed to me that they felt free to roam, and the staff was personable with them. I didn't see anyone sitting around like they were far away in another world. They were all active, and everyone just seemed happy and very content with where they were. It was very nicely decorated. They had an exercise room and a laundry room, even though laundry was done for them. There wasn't an odor. The staff was very well intermingled.

Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley seems OK for my mom. The staff seems qualified. They take good care of the residents. They're professional. The activities are good. They keep the older residents active, moving around, and interested. They keep track of where the residents are and when they come and go, so security seems to be adequate. I visited several communities, but because we needed the memory care unit, Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley is the best one.

My mother has been staying at Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley (Formerly Emeritus at Kingsley Place Medical Center). She got a roommate, so we moved her from a shared room to a private room. I like the environment. The staff is positive. The food is fine; some days are better than others. They have bingo and arts and crafts, and for those who can get out, they do field trips. They should just train their staff a little better.

We've placed our mom at Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley (Formerly Emeritus at Kingsley Place Medical Center). It's been alright, and we're very much satisfied. They assist her with her personal care such as bathing. Her room is good. She has a roommate, but her roommate has been in the hospital, so she has her room all by herself so far. The staff is very helpful, and I would recommend them.

Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley is a nice and clean place. It was very bright looking, and there were a lot of windows for the sun to come in. They have movie nights, cards, and an activity room. They do go out as well. If I had to put my cousin anywhere, I would put her there.

We choose Brookdale Kingsley because it is one floor. It is a good size so my uncle will meet a lot of people. It is very clean and looks very nice. I met a lot of the employees, and they are very nice. I also met a number of the residents there and talked with them, and they are all very happy. There is also a wide range of residents there. Some are in wheelchairs, but a lot of them are able to walk without wheelchairs. All of the rooms are studio apartments, which are in an L-shape. They have another one that is a little bit larger, but it is essentially in the same shape. The dining room is in the center. The community is layout sort of a large figure 8 so that there is a lot of walking that can be done if the residents choose to do that. In the center is where all of the dining rooms are. They have probably 8 community areas with places to sit and stuff like that. It is very nice. He says the food is good. I talked to the chef. She seems very nice and seems to know what she is doing. I speak to the other residents as well, and they like the food.

My aunt is in Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley. I would say the care that they give is good. The staff is friendly, and they seem to genuinely care. When she needs something, they are there. They communicate with me. If I needed things fixed in her apartment, they take care of it. One thing I like about it that made me decide to choose it is that they have call buttons that residents wear around their necks. They have a beauty shop inside the facility and a doctor on staff. They have a lot of activities like bingo. They have concerts once in a while. They also have their own in-house home health care where they have provided her with physical and occupational therapy. Probably the only biggest annoyance she has is having to wait a long time for dinner and being taken back to her room.

This is an excellent facility & my mother in law is comfortable here. However, 3 price increases in less than 2 years is pricing my mother-in-law right out of the facility! With her dementia, I don't know how moving her out is going to affect her health but it's outrageously priced for a one-bedroom, considering our loyalty since 2012.

Mom liked Emeritus as they seemed very friendly and the units that they were offering came with a patio and that really interested mom. The rooms are spacious and each room has its own bathroom. The staff seemed to be very friendly, caring and we haven’t had any issues. The dining area has a restaurant setup. She plays bingo, exercises and goes on outings when they go HEB or Wal-Mart. However, I would suggest a little few more activities.

My sister and I visited Kingsley Place twice, along with several other places, and chose to move our 88-year-old mother there. She's always been a social person and living alone hasn't been good for her, so she really responded well to the upbeat atmosphere of this place. Her private room will contain her personal furnishings, etc, is very nice, and doesn''t feel like a 'hospital' room at all. We also liked the director very much. She related so well to our mother and knew how to calm her fears. I was very grateful for that. Finally, the atmosphere in the dining room is that of a restaurant, not a hospital cafeteria, and the food tasted wonderful.

Kingley place is a wonderful place. My brother and I toured this place and we were very impressed. The Executive Director was so wonderful and made us feel like we were making the right choice. We are gonig to start our 88 year old mother out in Assisted Living and then if she needs memory care they have that also so we don't have to move her to another facility. We had lunch there and we were also impressed with the taste of the food. We move my mother in 2 weeks and I think she is also looking forward to it so she can be around people.

We visited the Emeritus at Kingsley Place Medical Center assisted living facility while searching for a place for my brother's place to live in the San Antonio region. The outside area was very nicely maintained. The grounds outside offer easy access for residents, where they can enjoy walking around freely safely each day. We could see that there was also plenty of space to have cookouts, parties and picnics. All of the indoor rooms had plenty of fresh air and light. The foyer was fresh and bright with very nice decorations and furniture. Communal activity rooms were spacious, with comfortable furniture. The seniors can easily socialize, make crafts, play games, watch TV and films and participate in many stimulating activities. Residents can also tend the garden. The facility can accommodate all levels of ambulation. Seniors can use the exercise room at any time and also go on daily walks. Aerobics and yoga classes are offered. The residents go on trips to visit the many art galleries and museums, eat at casual and fine restaurants and enjoy the many cultural events offered in the area. The private rooms featured plenty of space in nicely decorated surroundings. All had a great deal of natural light and fresh air with very comfortable furniture. The food we saw looked and smelled delicious. The menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. Healthy snacks are offered all day and into the evening, as well as whenever residents request them. The dining room was quite nice, with plenty of space and comfortable furniture. The residents here looked very content in their living environment and were well cared for by kind, considerate and competent staff.
